hmm.member...hmmm.shall i buy it?
im not buying membership but i subcribed!!!
Jokes on you, I’m already subscribed.
No one: Seed Maker: Am I a joke to you?
game name ?
I never even knew I could buy rice, I just got it from random places and thought "might as well plant this"
same i got it from the mines
You don't even need to water it
@@johnokane1899 pretty sure u do
@@judecubes Not if you plant it near a source of water. They self irrigate and grow faster
@@judecubeslil homie isn't irrigating 😢
You'll earn money if you mill it though, which the name "unmilled rice" is just begging you to do
I keep reading it as unlimited rice and I get disappointed every time
@@tonyshum5569i an not the only one 😮
@@tonyshum5569an asian could dream
@@ChaoticShinnythere’s rice in my vein so of course i’m gonna be disappointed
My goal on my farm was to get the mill and end up making all the artisan goods , I wanted to make sure that the valley had the best locally grown and produced foods and the mill is the hardest hurdle for me 😅
If you're buying rice, even piere know you're desperate
Bruh
Nah I plant rice because it looks cool. Chilling by the water
Recipes?
If you got time to spend at year2 it's easy to get them from bugs in floor 11-29.
"Wait you can buy at joja mart!?"
The coffee beans aren't really for selling though, they're for brewing so you can jumpstart your life as a coffee addict
right ive only ever sold a single bean for completion and the rest becomes espresso because the slowness when you arent on coffee is unbearable 😂
@@vampishly the first time I played the game I was like that's the fastest you can run?!
The beans may not be for selling, but if you plant a handful in your greenhouse or on Ginger Island, you can be making tonnes of coffee year-round that can then be sold, and/or made into Triple Espressos for even more money.
or if you're like me, you plant like ten year 1, and like FIVE HUNDRED year two, having so many coffee beans that you never run out of coffee and it might actually be a good idea to sell some of them
Before the coffee machine became a thing I had a keg brewing the morning go-go juice from my coffee plantation, lol.
losing money on rice is one thing, but saving money on rice if you have a mill (40g per shoot at pierre's, vs 200g for a packet of milled rice) is quite another. not to mention milled rice sells for 100g but at that point we're getting into whether processing crops should count into profit margins by default (though milled rice is not affected by artisan)
The mill is very cheap to buy, once you finally get the cloth, so if you're going to buy rice instead of just planting what you find, it should be a given that they are meant to be milled.
And in that case, rice is great. It grows super fast, and if you plant it right, you never have to water it. Get yourself a farm with a lot of water (River Farm especially), it more than doubles your money in just a few days while requiring no energy after tilling.
Also, sushi, rice pudding, and mango and coconut sticky rice. Yum!
Plus you dont have to water it bc you can just plant it near water. I dont understand the rice hate tbh
@@devinwatson4034 Planting as much irrigated rice as possible around one of the larger lakes is beautiful, and very satisfying to harvest. And you can get four harvests every spring for only one tilling. It's a shame it's only a spring crop; it would be fun to design a whole farm around something resembling a rice paddy field.
I love your profile picture
To add, rice being an irrigated crop means it doesn't compete with other crops for space if you have a limited amount of sprinklers
If it sells for less, that just means you're not supposed to sell it as is.
Process it into something else, and then sell it.
You didn't mention that you can get coffee beans in the mines, from dust sprites.
Yup. I've never bought coffee beans or rice shoots, they're just common enough drops!
Dust Sprites are so extremely useful.
They drop coffee beans, coal and maybe a dwarf scroll. A quest for killing them gives a ring that doubles item drops.
They also give fighting xp like all enemies do.
@@Purpylon Also, they can break rocks and there's a ton of them.
well they need to drink something heavy to stay awake for long time.
No wonder they are so jumpy.
"Or you can buy it from Pierre's if you go that route..."
Bro really went the joja route 😂
btw, forgot to mention it earlier: if you do grow rice - pickle it! More profit than milling (and benefit from Artisan), though I would still mill whatever is needed for cooking - take that Pierre! 😎
In case anyone is curious, pickling unmilled rice makes you 110g.
@@waterjade4198 Yep, but that's without Artisan. Though by the time you get Artisan you most likely wouldn't be growing rice anymore. 😁
Hi, I'm on year 2.
Can you tell me what is the most profitable plant to put in kegs and jar?
I'm mainly using hops for kegs (now starfruit after unlocking the desert area) and blueberry for jars.
@@nkabanets very true! 😉
Right now I'm torturing myself with the "never leave your farm challenge", not the nice version where you leave once a year. So I'm planting everything I can get my hands on, pickling and making wine with everything I can which is how I discovered pickled rice.
@@WeabooMoe it really depends on where you're at in the game. But if I broke it down by season, I would say strawberry or maybe ancient fruit in spring, blueberry or hops in summer, maybe cranberry in fall and wild seeds in winter. Crystal fruit wine is pretty good profit too. Note I'm mostly picking plants that don't need replanting.
If you don't break it down by number of harvests, or days then I would say cauliflower, starfruit and pumpkin makes good profit, but make sure you put the pumpkin in kegs for more money.
If you've opened up the greenhouse, definitely starfruit for the highest profit.
I like having sunflowers. They're great for gifts and you can get cooking oil from them. Plus, I just normally enjoy seeing flowers.
Well rice isn't made to sell straight up It is made to make vinegar.
You don’t sell rice, you mill it. It’s a mid-game crop that you find very early on
I have a bad habit of making a gigantic coffee farm
triple expresso is too powerful to not just grow all the coffee ever.
I usually have like 5 or 6 going, just so I always have enough espressos on any given day, lol
I just like that I don't have to water them & it gives me an excuse to buy the mill 😁
Wheat is all the excuse you need for the mill. That's how you get flour.
You can also use wheat for flour and beets for sugar.
@@jenniferbrower That's true. Beets are also very important for several recipes.
tbh i only want the mill because it looks cute 😅
Coffee beans have insane scaling and you actually can skyrocket your earnings because of them.
Throw unmilled rice into a seed maker and you'll usually get 2 or more rice shoots. Convert regular quality unmilled rice into shoots, sell gold quality and mill silver quality unmilled rice to make rice for cooking.
Since rice for cooking costs 200G at Pierre's and 250G at JoJa Mart, you'll save a ton of money growing your own.
All the dishes you can make with rice will sell for more than unmilled rice.
When he mentioned about coffee I was scared.
Me too. Even if my playthrough isn't about money, I still hate the idea of it being entirely worthless!
@@cozygamingmom Who cares if we earn or lose money on coffee - we grow it for entirely different reason - SPEEEEEED EEEEEEE!!!!!
@@nkabanets I mean, I'm trying to see if I can harvest a billion coffee beens because why not.
@@cozygamingmom I think I saw on youtube several coffee-only playthrough (including DF and Leap), but you go girl!
@@nkabanets Thanks! It started as a joke on my streams and became and actual thing I'm trying to do now 😂 I think we've lost sight of the original challenge we had on the farm at this point.
YOU MILL RICE INTO TASTY FLOUR
Or you put in a keg to make vinegar
unless you buy a mill and make it worth more, but like... a whole building just for rice?
Although unmilled rice makes you lose money, if you have a windmill, you could make the rice much more valuable. I’ve been selling milled rice and making about 20k per harvest, and considering it only takes 4 days to grow, that adds up fast
That’s because you’re supposed to mill it?
I just fish it up. It shows up in the treasure chest sometimes
However I think Sunflower give one average 0.9 seeds per harvest, meaning you lose crops so it's not infinite like coffee
Which is btw one of the best gold per day crop
The thing about unmilled rice though is that you can mill it to become usable for recipes
The ancestral Asian urge to tend to the rice fields has not stopped me from buying it.
Bro 💀
I buy the milled rice when i want it for cooking. Because when you plant large areas of wheat and let the weather water them, you get loads of fuel for The Beer Engine, which is what I call my banks of kegs. Pale ales are a powerful year-one money generator.
Worth remembering a few food recipes use rice - always nice to have spare for maki rolls and such, easy food source
Mill it
I mean, I'm trying to harvest a billion coffee beans over on Twitch, so this good to hear 😂
Did you succeed?
@@Dawn_Hannah not yet! I had to put it on hold for the moment. I had to choose between my RUclips channel and Twitch while I going through some medical problems 😕. But once I'm back to good condition, I'm going to resume!
Coffee bean-llion check in
@@HeroofTime6996 thanks for checking! I'm about to resume this challenge! I was diagnosed with a condition that affects my vision, but I'm doing much better and am finally ready to resume!
u don't lose money if u mill it XD the mill is great because u can put an infinite amount of rice into it and have it be ready the next morning!
Brewing the rice after you milled it is definitely better and it's also good for eating.
The kegs make you a lot of money, but beer and mead take the shortest.
Coffee is great. The speed boost is worth far more than the sell cost
Rice doesn't need watering near a water source. And gets you 60g per pnce milled. It's perfect summer 2 crop if you do it right.
999 missed calls from Uncle Roger☠️💀💀
Reminder that you can just buy boxes of rice from Pierre to use for recipes.
If i get rice early on in the mines I'd plant it to get the little extra money it gives which is extremely valuable since every gold is important for year one
Me, an asian: **internal pain**
true
Same 😢
As someone just really now getting into the game, this is actually super helpful
I mean thats why you process the rice into something else that sells for more. Ive barely started playing and even I know that processed goods are more valuable than raw crops.
Rice is only lost money if you dont have a mill
Sunflower honey is also highly profitable but everyone forgets about that
I hear your voice, i see robin fron teen titans talking. I cant unhear it 😂 i love robin tho.
As an asian, im mad that its rice
an* asian* (sorry if you dont know much english)
I have never played this game, but enjoyed the content anyway. Grow yet crops lil fella! Harvest! Woo! ...yes. I am easily entertained. Have a like.
I got it from fishing chest, if I remember it right, and a seedmaker multiplied it to infinity. There is no need to buy rice, you regularly find it.
*sigh*... guys.. this is the third time i write.. but...
TIP FOR USING MILL
mill need 2500G 150wood 50 stone and 4 clothe
you can mill 3 crop

2•beet

3•rice
rice shoot can be purchased from pierre for 40G.rice shoot need 8 days to mature.do not sell the unmilled rice.instead, mill them.milled raw rice will gave you rice.rice sell for 100G
(plant rice shoot near body of water to make it grow faster)
Sooo... let me explain why is this my 3RD comment
Iwas writing thesWHOLE thing, and i editet it.but when i post it.its completely GONE.so i need to write the whole thing again...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt attacked for being a rice farmer also wheat either being turned into beer or flour is pretty solid especially if you have a lot of pigs or goats.
Saying G instead of gold is psychopathic behavior
When I started to play the game I read g as "grams" when I shipped my first parsnips and was a bit confused.
Tell me you're a tryhard stardew player without telling me you're a tryhard stardew player
@@hailme6034 ??? wdym lmao its just common knowledge? I have like 10h in stardew
Heheh.
Wait until this guy finds out about Runescape.
We used to say G.
Once it reached into the 1000s, we stopped saying that and switched to "K".
After it broke 6 digits we just referred to it as "mil".
And, though it rarely happened, some extra wealthy players would refer to their balance in "bil".
Enjoy your day.
So is assuming we go to Joja mart, what's up with this short
Mill your rice people, make use of those small ponds in the spring with it!
I get rice from the caterpillars in the mine. They can drop coffee beans or rice occasionally. I don't normally buy rice or buy it milled I grow it from what I get in the mines. Sometimes you can dig them up when you see the little hairs in the dirt.
Coffee beans are my personal cash crop.
I always try to get it as soon as possible. Tmk its one of the best crops for money value (especially once you get good fertalizers) and can be turned into coffee for selling it for even more or used as a gift once you get the Keg
Rice is my bumper crop. I buy it bulk, harvest a few times, and mill it all. I never collect enough in the mines or elsewhere to warrant not purchasing any.
Yeah but you gotta mill the rice! Once it’s milled you’re profiting, but you can also save it to make loads of maki rolls which are good snacks!
Wait people sell rice without turning it into iridium quality wine
Better choice for rice
@@DungMa-ro4lm it was more of a joke
Never really focused on crops, just dived into the mines after the first week and that was that
Got all the money I needed for tool improvements and by the time I was done or at very least by the next year I'd have dozens of irrigation up and no longer have to waste stamina or time
Always found it better to blitz the mines, maybe a tiny bit of produce for the community shelter (town hall?) but that's it
I saw coffee on the thumbnail and was expecting Coffee slander. I stan by Coffee beans being the ultimate starter crop
I actually never realized 😭 I really like growing rice because it’s fun to harvest but maybe that’s a contributor to why some things have taken me so long
If you process rice on a windmill you can sell it for 100g, so it gives you quite a good ROI
Ah. Pierre.
That's all I needed to hear.
I somehow missed the fact that you could buy rice, and I’ve been relying on seed makers to “bread and fishes” a handful and save them to seed year 2
“Hey Pierre, do you have any rice seeds?”
Pierre: “do you need help? Like financially?”
That's why you turn the rice shoots into flour, then use that flour to turn into food, then sell it to make a profit.
Oh you gotta be kidding me.
You also fish out rice. Like A LOT from treasure chests. Either that, or it’s just my luck. 😂
I think that's the whole idea. It's a cheap low maintenance supplement to the early game and you'll find it throughout the land while doing other things, but not meant to be bought and sold like the main crops.
A little surprising considering rice is one of the main staple foods in much of the world (along with wheat and maize) and the player is pretty much the only farmer in the valley.
I haven't had to buy rice for anything because I horde my shoots till I need them.
Also coffee beans are both the seed and the crop so it can get ridiculous really fast. Plant like 10 of them and you're swimming in coffee.
I was so happy when I turned 1 seed of coffee into a greenhouse full of it. I was too proud to chop it down to put Ancient Seeds
Even coffee is unboughtable. You can find it in the mines with the dust sprites, in a good coal harvest
Once you mill rice, you can turn 1 rice into 2 vinegar, which sell for 100g each.
Mill rice, put beans in the keg to make coffee
Rice is pretty useful for cooking and if you are selling it you should mill it it's like getting a fruit tree you only use the crops for processing
Rice is a super simple money-making method and one of my personal favorites. just own a mill first.
Also sunflowers are a loved gift of Hailey so even if you don't get heaps of money from them they make getting friendship with her super easy
You can also get coffee beans from dust sprites, and rice shoots from the insect larvae.
This video was the sole purpose of me deciding that I was going to use only rice to fuel my Jonathan completion. It took forever but was actually pretty fun.
Seanie out here selling unprocessed rice
This reminds me of yesterday, I was playing stardew valley with mods and I went to see if there was a purple cabbage at the Friday seller, when I got there, the coffee seed was only for 300g, I didn't understand anything and no mod I was using did that
You can also give your sunflowers to Haley as they are her favorite flower. So they’ll never be useless
You don't buy coffee at the cart. You mine it in the ice levels like a patient rich coffee farmer 😂
I’d say the best use for rice is maki rolls. Won’t make you tons of money but it’s great for energy if you have the right ingredients
Youre supposed to put rice in fhe mill. It sells for more
Coffee beans are also a free drop from the ice caves by slimes. Save your money.
Me and my dirty mind adding all g's 😂
Most of the time I just take multiple yeld crops and turn them into seeds to sell back, so good to turn a 18g blueberry onto 3 60g seeds.
fun fact:
pickling rice gives more money than milling rice, but takes forever longer, as the mill processes everything put into it at once and not one at a time
Rice in the mines sounds like a punchline
you can also just get coffee beans from the dust sprites in the mines and never have to pay for coffee at all B)
You have to ship one un-milled rice to complete the shipping collection. Other than that, rice is just a wasted slot in your inventory. If you feel the need for a maki roll, you have a couple of options. You could acquire a rice shoot, grow it, and build a mill for 4000g; otherwise, you can just buy one rice from pierre for 100g.
i recently found 2 coffee beans in the mines so i’m pretty much set when i get the greenhouse
I just realized how long it has been since I've played Stardew Valley. Last I checked there was no way to grow rice yourself.
And checking steam, yeah, the last time I played was in Jul 2019
i never realized i could buy it lol i would just go home and find it in my inventory and go “huh, interesting” and plant it
Yes but with rice you’re more than likely going to mill it after and use it for cooking or sale as a refined product which will net you a profit
you can find coffee beans and rice shoots without buying them. once you plant, put some through a seed maker and you’ll have an endless supply. if you. care for rice or coffee
Raffadax beers mod: I am about to turn milled and unmilled rice into a massive profit margin
Also you can get rice plant when you are hoeing on a rainy day.
You need to mill rice then put it in kegs to make 2 vinegars out of 1 milled rice. From 40g to 200g.
I was just gonna say coffee may not be one of my obvious money-makers but the drink alone gives me more value than most other crops.
I get my rice in the mines, and by time spring comes back around I have the seed maker to have infinite rice.
You can use the seed maker to sacrifice crops for seeds, but it is kind of a waste of time for most crops. With any profitable crop, just buying seeds and using the saved time to do other activities will net you more 'value' with your time. Use the time that you save from the seed maker to mine, fish, talk to villagers, smelt, or whatever else you want to do.
Even with rice, spending more time on the rest of your farm concentrating on making greater profits with other crops and just buying the finished rice when you need it will save you time.
But hey, if you like growing rice then grow rice. Make a bunch of seed makers and never buy from Pierre again. Just because something is efficient doesn't mean its fun.
Though personally, I just use the seed maker for ancient fruit.
Everyone, when you get rice from the mine plant it and then MILL it before you ship it out. It sells for substantially more
You can get coffe Bean from these little Sprite dusts
