11 years ago, I had just started getting into Magic and watching LRR consistently. I recognize the card art, know all the cards, this really feels like a time capsule. So fun!
My eyes widened so much when Kathleen played a Flickerwisp into Adam’s bounce land. She could of been pure evil since flickerwisp says “permanent” and not just her own, good ol’ old cards 😈
37:47 Wow, this play by Kathleen could have been sick! Flickerwisp doesn't say "nonland" so the permanent she chose could have been Adam's Dimir Aquaduct! That would have put him so far behind.
1) This is incredibly nostalgic! A lot of these cards were in my cube in the early years as well. 2) This video is also a great demonstration of the play patterns that have caused some of these cards to leave my cube since 2013... (still rocking that Mulldrifter tho)
This was so much fun to watch! I've set to work on building this cube for my own group so I can use a lot of my old cards without having to spend too much money. Hope you guys do eventually get around to that M10 draft too, gotta love that classic Magic feel!
Fun fact, I remember when this cube got highlighted in a TTC about 4 moonbases ago, and actually built it as my first cube. So many good memories with this thing, and in hindsight such a wild format for only 200 bucks (at the time)😊
Agree. For me, peak card design are the Planar Chaos color shifted cards like Damnation or Brute Force. The darker frames with white letterig look so clean.
I serious love this lock! And the time you send it out is just perfekt for me❤ and Sacred is just pure ♥️🎉 Good luck on the race! Male: Baron Female: Baroness
I still think Magic has improved immensely since this time. A lot of the cards people are nostalgic for were very clunky, people have just become accustomed to what they do. A lot of current cards take a bit more reading, but actually play a lot more intuitively.
It has absolutely improved immensely, but it's also creeped into dramatically more complicated, especially in supplemental sets. Then again, Battles are just weird.
The average card and by extension limited? Yeah The strongest cards and by extension constructed? Nah Evoke spells and Ragavan level must answers are not fun
@James_LRR so agree past magic better; too dumb complicated and overpower and everything must have value. Course I was thinking the same in 2013 when these cards were being released... how little I knew what Hasbro was going to do and how innocent it still was. lol We pull out our Alpha Cube (basically just proxy out of Alpha) once in a while. Every time we always say 'wow this game is SO different now' Things change
Adam is such an innocent treasure (with a penchant for doing egregious degenerate stuff), I'd totally watch a stream with him just reacting to card designs that wouldn't fly in today's design era 😂
1:14:04 Kathleen played a tapland and immediately used it. Really disappointed in chat that they didn't point out that mistake. Hopefully it's not going to be game deciding.
“There’s a Mana Tithe in blue?”
Oh yeah, this is gonna be a fun stream.
I started uncontrollably giggling when he realized there was, in fact, a tinker in the cube
'Control Magic the Serra Angel' - Now you're playing Magic in the nineties!

I have assembled the List on CubeCobra, but for some reason RUclips doesn't want to upload my comment :( Can I share it with you somehow?
@@benjaminfeiner6851oh awesome! What is the cube called on CubeCobra?
2013LRRMTGCube is the cube code, if you put it into the cubecobra url after /cube/list you should get there
I want a stream just of Adam looking at old Magic cards
Yeah exactly 😂 I still remember that time wheeler Adam and Nelly played mtgo vintage cube 😂😂 I yearn for the day to see that again
Ready for the Chit Chaff episode where Cam, Wheeler, and Nelly resleeve this cube and talk about all the cards in the context of the era of this cube.
Yes please!
coming to this late but ^retweet it would be awesome to see

"Paul's not here." This is going go well.
My eyes widened so much when Kathleen played a Flickerwisp into Adam’s bounce land. She could of been pure evil since flickerwisp says “permanent” and not just her own, good ol’ old cards 😈
and that missplay lost her the game in the long run
Nothing has ever made me happier than Cam saying "My Boy!" About the perilous myr
Ah, finally. They're drafting a cube full of cards I recognize on sight
Kathleen could've ended Adam on turn 2 if she flickered Adam's dimir aquadock and then Adam would've needed to return it back to hand
But would that have been a fun game for us to watch or them to play?
@@braveothello1896hell yeah! Flickerwisp becoming a 3/1 stone rain is siiiick.
Just another reason why flicker whisp rocks
it took me a few years of playing before I started paying more attention to “permanent” versus “non-land permanent” on cards.
@@braveothello1896fun is relative, for me that would've been fun
FInal game between Ben and Ben was so brutal. But then, it was all I ever want in Magic. Pure, unfiltered RUG carnage.
ETBRKFYL: Enters the Battlefield, Richard Kane Ferguson, You Lose (me when I play the Borderless Grand Abolisher)
HOO boy when I saw Kathleen tap for Flickerwisp with Adam having nothing but a bounce land out I thought she was going to ruin this man's whole career
What Ben did to Ben was not okay. That man had hopes and dreams. A cheerful spark in his eyes. All gone now. Forever. 😢
37:47 Wow, this play by Kathleen could have been sick! Flickerwisp doesn't say "nonland" so the permanent she chose could have been Adam's Dimir Aquaduct! That would have put him so far behind.
Shandalar Cube when?
Goblin Polka Band will go nuts
So true bestie
What do you mean James doesn't build cubes he's literally a Minecraft streamer

So much nostalgia from when I started playing magic. This was so much fun to watch.
How come we can never see Wheeler's hands/cards while drafting?
This is how Richard Garlfield really intended It. This is delightful counterplay, what a great Cube! Still watching the first match.
2013 cube, Adam Reacts, the inmates running the asylum while Paul is away... What a treat this was!
1:14:04 Kathleen playing an untapped Grand Coliseum. It didn't matter in the first game, but it did in the second one.
Kathleen is a kinder person than I am, because if I have a flickerwisp and my opponent has a bounce land, it’s party time.
Fun fact, I remember when this cube got highlighted in a TTC about 4 moonbases ago, and actually built it as my first cube. So many good memories with this thing, and in hindsight such a wild format for only 200 bucks (at the time)😊
9 minutes in, I saw James open a Mantichore, and then the Mantichore artwork of Deep Analysis. This is already shaping up to be an incredible video
I read the title as "Budget Crab". I was excited for whatever that would mean.
This is completely unhinged and I crave more of it. It's also really inspiring me to make my own cube.
I looooove the not so old card borders (i think prior to khans)
Yeah, it changed in M15 (the set before khans)
Agree. For me, peak card design are the Planar Chaos color shifted cards like Damnation or Brute Force. The darker frames with white letterig look so clean.
Wheeler's draft deck is so good. I used to play basically that exact deck in constructed at some point. It was so good.
Another banger of a cube from the LRRMTG crew. Thanks, fam. ☺️
Also, danger and banger are similar, but quite different.
Great games. Good to see cards that I know by sight.
Kathleen nooooo, you flickerwisp the bounce land to put him back to turn 0 on mana, not gain yourself 4 life!
Deeply sad that Kathleen passed the opportunity to turn Flickerwisp into Strip Mine
"Let the Shandalar flow..." So good
James in Paul's place is peek substitute teacher energy. Ben, Ben, and Adam went full goof squad and I'm here for it.

Man not using the familiar to counter the arcane denial for that sun Titan was tough to watch.

Im not sure, i think we need a newer player like Matt to draft this and see how he feels about it to be sure.
It has absolutely improved immensely, but it's also creeped into dramatically more complicated, especially in supplemental sets. Then again, Battles are just weird.

@@LibertyMonkI think the wording is more complicated, but the designs of the cards, the way that you actually use them, is arguably simpler.
I'd argue that battles, suspect, and craft are all probably a little more complicated than a grave titan imo.
I would like the world to know that I misread the title as Friday Night Pauper Fight. Seems appropriate for a budget cube.
This is giving me the itch from when I stopped playing in 2013ish this fucking RULES
Man this episode was unhinged, Keep up the good work LRRFam!
38:10 I am glad she didn't, but Kathleen could have targeted Adam's bounce land with flickerewhisp...
I think it would have just been GG right there, sad she missed it 😂
The Ben / Ben Ben / Adam commentary was lit.
Flickerwisp is especially spicy in a cube with bounce lands.
Some real old school magic here.
Cannot convince me Magic wasn’t better back then. This cube rips
Wasn't Flicker in UDS like 10 years prior to Flickerwhisp?
Correct. Flickerwisp is not “the OG.”
this stream failed to answer the most important question: is Wheeler thankful for having him, and is it great to be here?!?
I would watch a vod of Adam's reaction to card after card of broken old singles that are probably worded poorly.
More of this please!
Could we get a cube list?
