I know, right?!!! I never put pressure on myself though. I plan out my weekly jobs and make sure I have plenty of time to do them and don't rush myself :). I don't buy into the 'hustle mentality' and it's one of the many reasons i live the way i do... so normally i spread things out :)... that day was a big rush though... not normal for me :). thanks for watching!
Winter...Layered jumpers, setting fires, early evenings, the sound of rain on the roof. My favourite time of the year Amanda. Stay safe, stay warm with your wonderful furry companion sweetie...hope that storm passed quickly by too...much love from Aus 💗🐶
I believe those whales know when you're filming..lol. It must be an amazing experience to live so close to where there are whales. Here in Louisiana we have been having next to no rain. Although we have gotten some the last couple of days . We need more. The Mississippi is really low. I hope Buttercup is doing better. I am sure the rain and cold doesn't help her joints. But,she was showing off with her out and about walks. Hope you have a good week. Thanks for the visit.
that's so funny you say that as i mutter that to myself everytime i start filming them... they MUST know i'm filming. they're probably all laughing below the surface at me! I am so sorry you haven't gotten much rain... that must be pretty scary. Even though it's cold and rainy she actually does do a bit better. this is b/c she'll sleep on the couch which is better for her old bones. in the warmer weather she refuses to sleep anywhere but on the hard floor :). have a good week :)
Hi Mark, thank you! I am so glad you enjoy the music. Sometimes the lyrics really don't jive with the footage, but if I like the song I put it in anyway - haha!! I use Musicbed.com for my music and the 3 songs from today's video were (in order) "Ode To Spring" by Coldbrew (@coldbrew), "Nothing Personal" by Ed Patrick (@Edpatrickuk) and "Questions" by Jacob McCoy (@JacobMcCoyBurton). Thank you for watching!
Butter seems happier with the coming cold weather. I have two malamutes (I live along the Juan De Fuca Straight) who start cheering when the cold comes.
The old Bowline knot! Well done, Amanda. That's about the only knot I know, ha! Did your deer hunting guests "catch" a deer? Your videos are so relaxing and peaceful, and I thank you.
bowline is a knot that can be used for many occasions... a very good knot to know :). yes, the hunters caught 1 deer. they hung and skinned it in the shop on the hill. i went and had a peek at it the next morning and watched them load it up into their boat. i didn't talk about it on the channel as i am sure some viewers are sensitive to that kind of thing. thanks for watching!
Hi Amanda, you sure have a way of providing beautiful openings of your videos. I hope the owner of the property knows just how good of a caretaker you are. You reslly do a lot of work. Great music as usual. Did you see the video I put out on my 22 ft. boat I bought to go crabing and shrimping? Thanks for sharing your everyday life with us.
Instead of yelling "SQUIRREL" Amanda yells "WHALES" 🤣 You know I had that exact same tire inflator and battery jumper and it broke the first time I tried to use the inflator 😉 So the picnic table flying onto your boat would make great RUclips but yeah turn it over!! You always have great music but I wonder what the picnic table on your boat music would be 🤔Watching you turn that table was like when I had to turn over my new counter. 🤭 Kinda heavy?
haha :)... i'd be yelling 'whales' all day long! that inflator has been great... i am always moving it from the house, to the dock, to the shop. it's the item that travels the most with me here. i'm just glad i didn't break the table. that was my biggest concern... it was very heavy!!
it's not so bad :). when you're alone the jobs go by pretty quickly as there is no one to interrupt you and you can do everything at your own pace :). thanks for watching :)
they ended up showing at around 1AM… woke me up. it was pretty loud, but i couldn’t see much outside. next morning there was a ton of new leaves to clean up 🙄 and a lot of small branches everywhere. no major damage 😊😊
@@AmandaOffGrid Too far off grid for a house phone. We have emergency calls only and Wi-Fi calling. We keep everything buttoned up, due to the frequent high winds. We have not experienced phone outages for this long. Thanks for asking. How did your wind event turn out?
too far off-grid for a phone is heaven - haha! wind storm was big. boat survived and minimal tree branches fell… so not too bad. definitely won’t be the worst of the winter!
@@AmandaOffGrid The forecast calls what we are experiencing breezy, but tomorrow's forecast is windy. Makes me laugh. Glad that not too much damage was done by the windstorm...
it was pretty loud at around 1AM. loads of branches etc. were dropping on the cabin which made it a bit scary :). no trees came down, which is great. i am so sorry about your trees... hope you have some woodstoves to make good use of the wood!
@@AmandaOffGrid Oh yes. we have wood stoves and can use the wood but the damage was so big it changed the landscape on our property in Eastern Ontario. Good thing you didn't get serious damage , just a lot of extra work.
I have just recently found your channel and am so happy! You are wonderful and very inspiring Amanda. In fact I love them so much that I’m even watching the ads to better support you! I always skip ads🤣 keep them coming
Beautiful I love the soundtrack very nice. I've been following for a couple weeks since I saw a show about you living off-grid sorry about you loosing your doggo 😢 Good to see you healing after your loss. Do you think might get another dog or puppy?
Yes, I can go pretty much anywhere on the property :). It's very large and most of it is covered with a large cedar forest. Their aren't really any trails... just a lot of mud, an old logging road with dense, difficult to navigate foliage everywhere. The owner has said to use whatever I need in the shop etc. I'm very conscious of using electricity though. If he had solar I might use a bit more... everything, for now, runs off fuel, so I use as little as possible. Partly b/c I don't want to spend the owners money when I don't need to, but mostly b/c I don't really like using fuel if I can avoid it... bad for the environment :).
yah. definitely… i installed mine on my boat and it wasn’t difficult. the owner is planning it out really well. we’ve been monitoring the power usage for the last year and with that data they can be sure to get enough quality equipment that will last many years 😊.
it showed up i full force at around 1AM. woke me up. i went outside and shined the flashlight on the boat and it was hopping!! i wish i hadn’t as in situations like that there’s nothing i can if something goes wrong (wouldn’t be safe) do so it’s best not to look - haha!!
So much to do and only so many hours in a day. Stay safe and keep your peace.

Mine too! I kinda feel like I'm hibernating - haha! Where we are the winter (including part of Fall) lasts about 7 months, sometimes 8!
You live a quiet beautiful life along the Canadian islands. Take Care Ernest

Stay safe this winter Amanda. Great video as usual. Cheers!!
Thanks Andrew!!

It was definitely a full morning :)! A lot of the time what it takes to move around the property - ha! Thanks for watching Mary :)
Your choice of music is awesome Amanda. I as wondering who was singing. God bless you.. stay warm
