Hi, Amanda! Your music must be Canadian. It is lovely and peaceful. The sea lions were fun to see. They have a nice place to live. You must have gone to a health food store. Thanks the the amazing intro.
Hi Alice :)... the music is by the artist Ben Noble - apparently born in Minneapolis, but I do agree the sounds of his guitar are incredible! That spot is a favourite of the sealions around here. There is another one right across from us and in the early hours of the morning you can hear them grunting and barking as clear as day! Thanks for watching!

I like the wooden sculpture beside the camp. A bear I think? The wind has been blowing very hard here in Regina. It’s a pain! I had a terrible haircut once as a kid. I came out looking like Ronald McDonald lol. Anyways thanks for the great scenery, lovely music and commentary. Have a great week! Love to Buttercup

What pretty days you are having! My daughter used to be a marine naturalist on marine life/whale tours out of Anacortes, Washington. I loved going out on the boats when I’d visit her. Many times we had to go far up past the San Juans. Seeing your Alert Bay trip brought back memories. Had to chuckle about the hat question. My first thought was the inquirer doesn’t understand the often damp and chilly PNW, especially further up on Canadian islands! And then there’s the hair in the face thing. Hats are great for that! Always great to see Miss Buttercup out and about with you while you go about your beautiful days up there 💖

@@AmandaOffGrid That's crazy, remote lodges in Alaska supply you with food for your stay as well as paying you and you get a bonus when you are done for your length of time until you come back. Many times Alaska lodges will keep you on for the Summer if you want and pay you monthly with tips as well. I think it's time to relocate here.
Wow, nice :)! Many of the lodges supply food around here as well. This property isn't a commercial property so I think the benefits might not be as great as if it was. The amazing thing about this property is my freedom to take care of things as I see they need to be done. The owners defintely have certain things they want done, but in general they leave me to my own devices, which, I think, is worth it's weight in gold! Alaska does sound intriguing though :)!

Hi, it's been a long time. Buttercup passed away and I was so sad... things are getting better now :). I'll post again soon. Thanks for the kind comment 🤗
Great video Amanda… what’s the story around the sculpture pictured in front of your cabin at 12:05 My condolences regarding buttercup, I often think about the furry friends that I’ve been blessed to share the various seasons of my life with …
thanks, i was so low after she passed. i still get really sad, but it’s much better. that sculpture is a half man/ half bear chainsaw sculpture by a first nations gentleman out of Campbell River. by an odd coincidence i met his son a few months ago.
Amanda! So nice to see your lovely face! I asked Alma a while ago what had happened to you and if anyone still kept in touch as the last time we bumped into each other was years ago in the line for Bao Bei. I was very happy to discover this video today on DMO. Looks like an amazing life you're living and I'm looking forward to seeing more! I would love to hear more about this airbnb as we'd love to visit. You know how to reach me. Take care! Robin Mc.
Great answer on wearing hats I have always worn hats to keep warm, head dry on the rain, and protection from the hot sun. Still snowing here in western Montana It is above my knees. Take care and I do enjoy your videos. Take care Etnest
Me too... have worn hats for many years now. In the summer they protect you from tics that fall out of trees, getting burnt by the sun and in the winter they keep you toasty warm! nothing wrong with a good hat :)! be safe in all that snow!!! Thanks Ernest!
Funny the questions you get, eh? I assumed the obvious reason you wear a hat is to keep your head warm! Thankfully, the hair in my face hasn't been a problem for me for a couple of decades now, involuntarily! 😂
Hello Amanda. Me and my husband are nomad vanlifers (we had been for 5 years now) and we are looking for a place to stay for a while that look a lot like the idilic place you live in. We also love isolation and nature. We are Mexicans and currently looking for a piece of forest in Oaxaca which has been very hard. But watching your story in the Exploring Alternatives video and this one gave us a lot of joy. I'm so sorry for Buttercup's absence, we also lost our Tamal 🐩 this March and has been very difficult. Any way, thank you for sharing. Your video warmed up my heart. 🌲💛 XX
Hello... yes, it was great, she hung outside with me... so nice. i left the door slightly open just in case she wanted to go in, but she stuck around :). thanks for watching!
Hi Amanda, loved your video on Exploring Alternatives! What an amazing place you live in. 💛 It is also always wonderful to hear someone letting life unfold and follow what feels best. The passing of Buttercup must have been hard. I can imagine it is quite an adjustment for you. Wishing you all the best from 🇭🇺 (NL). PS Had to laugh about your reaction to 'the hat' comments, very relatable.😄
thank you for watching! yes, buttercup passing really knocked me out for months. i am a big sappy girl. i am going to get back to videos soon!! within the next couple weeks i hope. i have to introduce the dog i've recently adopted :)
April is upon us and a massive herring spawn is underway over at McNeil how 'bout in your bays ? if so it would make a good vid maybe ?...( btw...just curious how many Ndn sweaters do you own ??) lol l like the blacks lookin' gd on you.
Hi Lorri, you know it almost seems like we didn't have a winter here... it has been so mild. We did have a week or so of snow, but it wasn't horrible. Very little rain. Last winter we had fog and buckets of rain on the daily. Very very different. I read that summer here is going to be hot... we'll see. Thanks for watching!
I wish i was a big fat seal. I wear a beanie alot to cover my ears because i don't want an earache. I had alot of earaches as a kid so I am always afraid I will get one.
Hi Pam, that's so nice :)! Yes, the generator goes on for 3 hours a day to top up the batteries. When the generator is off we're running soley on batteries so we have to monitor power usage very carefully.
Hi Maria, I do. Not sure Buttercup does though. I think her sailing days are over, unfortunately. For now, because Butter is princess of everything, my sailing days are at a halt.
Yes, she certainly is. I've been watching your ig videos with the bears! My goodness. Are you mostly housebound ? Hopefully you can get back to doing your weekly videos! I miss them so much. Take care

i eat a lot of eggs, chicken when i have it… a ton of chickpeas (you can make the most amazing dishes with chickpeas), lots of lentils. gluten causes my eczema to flare up so i stopped eating breads, flour - that’s made it a bit tougher.
it is so expensive!! last week on my supply run i paid over $30 for 3 loaves of bread 😳. i eat a ton of homemade soups/ stews in the winter… lots of lentils, chickpeas, eggs 😊

hi, i believe one of the heaters is a backup for the big house. it hasn't been used in the 2 years i've been here, we've only had 1 turned on. the previous owner of this property used to have many many guests (apparently many US war veterans used to stay here for months at a time) in the big house all summer long so hot water probably ran out quickly :).
Hi Deborah. I was really really sad for months as Buttercup passed away. Last month or so has been much better. I am just a big sap... I missed my old girl and lost my mojo. I'll post again soon!
Perhaps you could keep some chickens (custom insulated coop with secured variable compost fields), greenhouse scraps for the chickens, fertilizer for the plants, and lastly a more reliable cycle of sustenance for the human inhabitants of the island.
some people can be rude, but i do have to admit i don't get a ton of unkind comments here. youtube has a great filter you can turn on behind the scenes (which i do). it has filtered some unpleasant comments and i just delete those... nobody needs to read those :)!
Maybe because you like to wear a hat Wow some people I wish I could wear a took I can't have anything over my ears drives me nut because I can't hear everything 1s for hunting I cut ear holes out of a full face took🤣🤣🤣 looked funny but loved it
I can definitely see why covering your ears hunting is a bad idea :)! My ears are just barely out of the toque, but they are out. I do have one hat that has flaps over my ears... don't wear that one too much!

I just discovered your videos and can’t get enough. Already binged watched what you posted. I hope you continue posting someday. 😊🙏
I will!! Thank you for watching... I am so glad you like them :)
Hi Amanda 👋 hope you’re both doing well, haven’t seen you for a couple of weeks and wanted to check in 💖 sending love and sunshine🌻🌻
Take care! Robin Mc.
hi 😊😊! wow! nice to hear from you! email me at the email message in my bio or message me on insta (same handle) and i’ll give you the details.
Great answer on wearing hats
I have always worn hats to keep warm, head dry on the rain, and protection from the hot sun. Still snowing here in western Montana
It is above my knees.
🌲💛 XX
Amazing! I hope you find a great spot for awhile. I am very sorry about the loss of your pup...it is so hard :(. Thanks for watching!
I too am concerned. Please reach out. I think you're amazing😊
Isn't it funny what people are curious about? Hats? 🙂 I just figured you wear hats for warmth or some other practical reason. LOL
It was so good seeing Miss Buttercup out and about for a little while. Take care Amanda.
Hello... yes, it was great, she hung outside with me... so nice. i left the door slightly open just in case she wanted to go in, but she stuck around :). thanks for watching!
Love the sweater
it's my favourite :)!
@@AmandaOffGridVery understandable! And all in good time.
Awww you've adopted a dog! Amazing, looking forward to seeing your new companion. 😊
she’s pretty awesome. very different from my beautiful Buttercup, but just as amazing ❤️🐕🐕🦺
April is upon us and a massive herring spawn is underway over at McNeil how 'bout in your bays ? if so it would make a good vid maybe ?...( btw...just curious how many Ndn sweaters do you own ??) lol l like the blacks lookin' gd on you.
I just found your channel. Wish you would post soon to update us.😊
hi :). I definitely will post soon! Got something in the works. Thank you for watching :)!
💛
Love your videos! ❤
Thank you so much!!
Hi Amanda, I love how the season seems to be changing there! You are such a hard worker! Thank you for another great video. 🐾❤️
Look forward to seeing you and Buttercup every Sunday!
Question, when you turn the generator on each morning, is that how you get electricity?
Hi Pam, that's so nice :)! Yes, the generator goes on for 3 hours a day to top up the batteries. When the generator is off we're running soley on batteries so we have to monitor power usage very carefully.
@@AmandaOffGrid thanks for answering my question! I am sure that can sometimes be challenging. 😊
Great to see that you are both doing well. Do you miss sailing?
Hi Maria, I do. Not sure Buttercup does though. I think her sailing days are over, unfortunately. For now, because Butter is princess of everything, my sailing days are at a halt.
Yes, she certainly is. I've been watching your ig videos with the bears! My goodness. Are you mostly housebound ? Hopefully you can get back to doing your weekly videos! I miss them so much. Take care
Try castor oil [glass bottle] for your skin..
yes. def do use castor oil… always have it on hand!! good tip!
Quite similar prices to Swedish groceries in that store 😂
oh dear... expensive!
I would love to move there, and just leave everything behind. But I'll move there if i can take my kids with me 😊.
oh yah 😊😊… i didn’t have kids, so i was able to do whatever i wanted, whenever. i’m sure if i did have kids i would have found them just as rewarding 😊
Concerned about you. Are you ok. Did you stop doing RUclips?,,
Great video Amanda
About the hats some people
Just like to ask stupid ass questions
I look at it this way it’s your life wear what you want as long as it makes you happy stay safe watch for the bears
haha :)... agree 100%. my eyes are peeeeeeled for bears... any day now they'll be coming along.
Hello Amanda please post something haven’t heard from you in a while.
i will 😊
❤
Amanda waiting for your videos .tight hug lot of 💕 I have just heard the article of news .i am in Kerala (INDIA).i like your channel . I can't stay alone ... stay safe and healthy happy New year 2024 god bless you 💕
Thank you :) and thank you for watching!
Hi Amanda! What food you eat everyday?
i eat a lot of eggs, chicken when i have it… a ton of chickpeas (you can make the most amazing dishes with chickpeas), lots of lentils. gluten causes my eczema to flare up so i stopped eating breads, flour - that’s made it a bit tougher.
I've got a question! What do you mostly eat up there? Food must be very expensive.
it is so expensive!! last week on my supply run i paid over $30 for 3 loaves of bread 😳. i eat a ton of homemade soups/ stews in the winter… lots of lentils, chickpeas, eggs 😊
Napanuod kita sa exploring alternative,,,,,kamusta na ang buhay mo ngayon na wala na si buttercup,,,,,????...ingat ka lagi dyan at mabuhay ka,,,,,....
sad, but getting better ❤️
This video just popped up on my RUclips today so I'm wondering where you are these days?
Hi Robin :). Buttercup passed away and I was really low for a long time. Things are getting better though. I just adopted a new 3-year old pup who i'll introduce soon :). i hope you are well.
@@AmandaOffGrid I'm so sorry to hear this news 💗. Losing a beloved pet is not easy at all . . . Hope you are climbing back up & glad to hear you have a new little dog to love .
Why do you have two hot water heaters
hi, i believe one of the heaters is a backup for the big house. it hasn't been used in the 2 years i've been here, we've only had 1 turned on. the previous owner of this property used to have many many guests (apparently many US war veterans used to stay here for months at a time) in the big house all summer long so hot water probably ran out quickly :).
In the woods on a private island is the best of the best. The only thing that could top it would be living on a private island being a millionaire 👍🤟👌
haha :). if i was a millionaire i'd definitely be buying my own little spot on a island up here...
@@AmandaOffGrid i agree , it's basically the garden of Eden. A grand lifestyle. 👍
Amanda, are you doing okay?
Exploring Alternatives. She's in their latest video.
thank you 🤗
@@AmandaOffGrid 👍🏻🙏🏻
ARE YOU OK? DID YOU STOP DOING RUclips? IT'S BEEN 7 MONTHS. HOPE YOU'RE OK 😢
Hi Deborah. I was really really sad for months as Buttercup passed away. Last month or so has been much better. I am just a big sap... I missed my old girl and lost my mojo. I'll post again soon!
Perhaps you could keep some chickens (custom insulated coop with secured variable compost fields), greenhouse scraps for the chickens, fertilizer for the plants, and lastly a more reliable cycle of sustenance for the human inhabitants of the island.
all great suggestions 😊. the plans for the property, of course, are up to the owners.
Help me out please. She disappears 11 months ago. ?
Come back to your channel Amanda and get monitized, you are missing out and so are we from watching your videos.
thanks :). i will!!
That's y I don't do social media....rude people & no manors...if u can't say something nice DON'T say it at all!!!
some people can be rude, but i do have to admit i don't get a ton of unkind comments here. youtube has a great filter you can turn on behind the scenes (which i do). it has filtered some unpleasant comments and i just delete those... nobody needs to read those :)!
@@AmandaOffGrid 😁😁
👍👍.... You mentioned something about a bear....Have you ever had to fist fight a bear???
haha... nope. i've encountered black bears many times in my life and so far none of them have started a fight with me!!
@@AmandaOffGrid 😂😂😂😂
New Subscriber here Ma'am. I really like your video I hope you'll get lots of Subscribers.❤❤❤😊
Thanks for subbing!
Does anyone know if she’s ok? Quit RUclips?
I wish I knew how to find out. She’s not replying to any messages. Very concerning.
I don't know what's going on but I haven't had a video of yours for a long time I was watching alone in Alaska's channel and then noticed your channel on hers shortcut oh you haven't seen your video for a long time and I see you got a lot of videos I haven't watched wow that ticks me off makes me mad Okay what's going on these are all old videos I've watched them all and it says that I haven't watched them because I give a thumbs up on them all the time to tell that I've watched them before and it doesn't look like you've made any videos in the past 7 months wow
Hi there :). i haven't made any videos. I'm sorry to say that buttercup passed away. her passing really knocked me out. i had no get up and go for the longest time. i missed my old girl. i'll post again soon though i promise!!
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭Sorry to hear that that is the hardest thing when you lose a dog they They give you unconditioned love and don't expect anything back and it sticks with you for a very long time of went through it a few times and I'm looking to be going through it again pretty soon with my Chihuahua not looking forward to that he is my best friend like you it's just one of the hardest things to do to lose a dog this sleeps with you all the time I feel really bad for you sorry@@AmandaOffGrid
yes. it’s so difficult to lose a pup. i swore i wouldn’t do it again, but there are so many dogs that need us out there and i knew i could offer one a great home. i miss Buttercup, but Peach is loving life here and that fills me with so much joy 😊😊❤️❤️
Amanda are you still with us? We mide never find out! Hope you are good! Give us a sign please! 🩵💙💜
Things were tough for a bit. Buttercup passed away and it put me into a sad funk. I've adopted another dog, Peach. I'll post again soon!!
Missing your videos. Hope you and buttercup are doing well❤
Hi David, sadly Buttercup passed away in the summer. It was really tough, but it's getting better!! Have an wonderful Xmas :)
