This scene would have played out much better if they didn't show you the Lightsaber turning toward him. If the focus was kept on Kylo's hand movements, it would have had a much more impactful shock.
Or in the other hand show us how kylo move the lightsaber to snoke, but snoke notices that at the last second and deflect the lightsaber forcing rey and kylo in a lightsaber duel against snoke 2 vs 1
I'm 100% sure Snoke knew what Kylo was doing. "I see his lightsaber turning" -> The lightsaber starts turning towards him. He said waaay to many times that he can't be betrayed. And he said his true enemy. He only met Rey like once, meanwhile Snoke could feel how much Kylo is fed up with him. Episode 9 could be interesting, unless JJ fucks that one up as well.
This is also my theorie. Words are so important to the plot of a movie and a lot of things said in this scene are significant. Snoke was powerful but physically very vulnerable and probably dying. Maybe he let Kylo kill him so he could take his place as the master. I'm pretty sure Snoke would lose within seconds to a saber duel, thus why we don't see him having one. Meaning Kylo would probably be able to kill him anytime he felt like fighting back. It follows the rule of two and the only way the Sith ever managed to gain power generation after generation. Kylo will now try to convert Rey or he will find an apprentice of his own. Snoke basically sacrificed himself(like all the Sith before him) to further the cause of the DS.
Dark side users tend to be completely ignorant when it comes to sensing danger. Maul, Dooku, Vader(mustafar), Sidious, snoke-all were over confident. Maul just stood there when obi wan cut him in half, dooku was shocked to see himself betrayed, Vader just lept at obi wan like an idiot, Sidious thought it was safe to electrocute his internally conflicting apprentice's son before his eyes. It's always the same. But I feel like Snoke deserves more and I'm shocked he died in the with movie, and I'm also surprised the writers would kill him off so early. Perhaps it's a way to show that Kylo Ren is descending even further down?
Indo Science Yes, but pay attention to the words. He must be aware of what Kylo was doing. Even the actor couldn't say that his character is "done". Maybe his purpose was to "fulfill his destiny" -> turn him completely to the dark side. Because a sith can only be sith lord by defeating his master. Maybe it was his plan to make Kylo the master, knowing he would try to turn Rey as well, leaving the old Luke completely alone.
This was an amazing scene and I liked the direction it went in, but still dissapointed at the lack of Snokes backstory. No, the emperor did not have a backstory either, but it was not crucial to understand how he started the empire because that wasn't the focus of the story. In the force awakens we learned that the first order came to be somehow and that this mysterious powerful force user named snoke was leading them, which means that WAS a focus of the story. How did he amass so much power, and where was he during the empire if he is so old? It isn't consistent with the story unless it is explained, and now we are just back to the empire vs rebels again which is kind of stupid, so yes his backstory would help fill a lot of holes to explain why all this is going on.
I get this is refreshing to breakaway from the Order of the Rule of two Two I doubt we know Snoke unless we somehow get Star Wars movie that details back to his days like George Lucas did for Palpatine. Do we know his origins? Why is he so powerful ? Why make the claim he was more powerful then the Emperor? Why was he *HIDDING* in the Outer rim? Where was he during the entirety of the Sequel trilogy? How did he *CREATE* and rebuilt the remnants of the Empire into the First order? How and when did he corrupt Kylo Ren? A flurry of questions
Questions, that we'll now never get the answers to because Rian John officially labeled him ''a throw-away villain'' Just like Phasma, why the fuck did they even bother to waste our time with Snoke if they were just gonna kill him off like this?!
And? Nobody will care about Snoke anymore by the time a book/comic comes out. He's pointless! Because of Rian Johnson's sabotage of this new thrilogy having any merit or intrigue, he's rendered Snoke useless storywise so now nobody will even bother giving him him a backstory that explains who he is, how he created the First Order, or even how he meet Kylo Ren. Snoke was essentially the main focus of this thrilogy (antagonist-wise) and it's now been gutted! There is nothing interesting left for us to explore in episode 9.
First of all; cause we want to find out why and how the First Order became so powerful it was able to build a fleet of Ressurgent Star Destroyers, Starkiller Base (and now) the Supremacy. Snoke is the answer to all of this, especially since we didn't get any answers from Force Awakens. - He could've invaded planets and stolen resources, but then fleed before the New Republic was able to investigate it. - He found someplace in the Unknown Regions that granted him TONS of power (like the Star Force from the Old Republic) The point is we don't know that much about him, which was deliberate cause they were intending to reveal it later (but NOPE, RIAN JOHNSON JUST GOT A HARD-ON FOR KYLO REN (even though Kylo Ren is by far the weakest villain we've ever had in Star Wars) AND HE'S THE SUPREME LEADER NOW!) Second, he's not a Sith and yet he's incredibly powerful (so powerful he's able to use the force through a hologram, and even just lightly pointing with his finger when someone tries to attack him sends them flying across the room) Like with how he built the FIrst Order, he was alive during the time of the Galactic Empire (and was perhaps inspired by them). One cannot say that he was merely a throw-away villain, cause then I have to ask; why? Why give him a specific design like this? Why hint at a backstory with hm? Why hint at him having some big impact on Kylo's life that made him turn to the Dark Side? If Snoke was just there to get killed by Kylo, why not just make him some generic Imperial Warlord that started this new Empire after the Battle of Endor?
Then right after the battle they go and ruin it by having Kylo just want to crave power, He shouldn't give a shit about Rey but for no reason at all he does. The worst thing to happen now is if JJ turns it into some shitty love story because after the prequels nobody wants to see that.
Well, yeah...I feel like some people watched a different move than I did. I don't think Star Wars is complex enough for people to miss everything in it. Yet they seem to.
You call peoples "preconceived notions" shit even though they were all better than this trash. So after ROTJ we're supposed to believe that some random force user came out of nowhere and made the first order? This is an insult to fans, Disney are treating you like shit and you're thanking them for it....good job!
Why this drama about not knowing who Snoke was? Nobody knew who Palpatine was when Vader killed him in III Episode, but there was not drama at all those days. I can´t understand all the drama surrounding this movie... this part of the movie is great BTW
I think the difference there is that Palpatine wasn't a derivative character. Snoke being a hand-me-down Emperor is the first thing we notice about him, so we're kind of hoping for some sort of backstory here. We see the "New Palpatine" and we think "okay. Where's this going?" Apparently nowhere?
I honestly think the main problem is that nobody have clear what kind of villian Kylo is, so people think there won´t be a great villian in Episode IX. The point is that Kylo seems to be too conflicted, and tortured by his own demonds, to be the big bad guy in Episode IX. I get the feeling that Snoke death leaves people in some kind of orphan state, you know, people need a great villian till the end.
I just don't really "get it". He was the guy at the tippy top and now he's just sorta gone before he could really make his mark. I'm not sure what he was meant to amount to.
who knows, maybe in Episode IX we will discover that Snoke had another apprentice, as evil as he was, so we will have the great villian, who is a Snoke creation...I don´t know. The truth is that I don´t care about Snoke backstory, but I can´t see Kylo as the great villian, in fact, I think most people don´t even want Kylo to be the great villian, because they´ve shown too much of Ben Solo in Kylo to see him as the great evil one. As you said, people usually need a great villian in Star Wars to make his mark
Snoke: fulfill your destiny Kylo: I know what I have to do Me: internally screams Kylo kills Snoke, and teams up with Rey Me: internally screams of happiness and Reylo
GOT SNOKED: adjective. 1.An important mysterious character is killed in a clever way just to be clever. Leaving all the questions and motivations to his/her character unanswered. 2. Lazy screenwriting. 3. A bad move eg: 'You got snoked.'
Remember why the Fans love Palpatine? Cause in Eps.1-3 they created a huge backstory about him, his motivations and goal. Something that won't happen in this new trilogy. Sometimes mystery is not the best way to go.
I like that part when he puts the light saber next to him but doesn't think it could kill him but then it does and hes like "oh shit I didn't see that coming" but it did.
setting up the most powerful villain and then killing him without giving any backstory whatsoever. its a bold strategy cotton, lets see how it plays out for them.
At first I thought this movie was pretty good amid the mistakes but the more i look into it the more I say ...Seriously FUCK Rian Johnson for ruining this movie. Could have been an epic sequel to TFA and even answered some of our questions but nooooooooo
Chris Goomba He shouldn't kill off Luke... We do not have any old cast in Star Wars now. :'( Even Chewbacca is played by a new actor because the old one was too one.
J Campezzi They've already failed their job. They can't be fired because their boss is already dead. It seems like they could just walk away if they wanted to.
It makes perfect sense. The preatorian guards, just like the emperial guards were trained just for one thing. Protect their emperor. Their lives are meaningless to themselves if they fail to do that. When snoke died they only had one thing left to do: Die fighting.
crazysam871 say if they killed Rey and kylo ren then what? Do they commit suicide? They still failed to protect him. The lightsaber activated through Snokes torso before they had a chance to react.
Director Abrams. Years ago, you made an excellent Star Wars movie. Now we beg you to help us in his struggle against Rian Johnson. I regret that I am unable to present this request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack and I'm afraid my mission has failed. I have placed faith in you, that you have the vital information for the survival of the Saga in the memory of the original trilogy. . You must see this LAST JEDI installment corrected and safely deliver a suitable ending to this story. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, JJ. You're my only hope
Everybody in the cinema erupted with applause when this scene happened. The people in my country can make even the worst movie "Batman v Superman" seem amazing.
spiritgirl41192 I have a very random thought...someone in the comment section said he lived in the prequels up until now...if you watched Dr. Strange, (witch I bet you did not) The sorcerer supreme drew power from the dark dimension to stay alive.Maybe that's what snoke did: drew power from the dark side just to stay alive...hmm...
To the people saying Snoke may come back in the next movie. That would be dumb. We not only see snoke being cut in half, but at one point we see a close up of his body on the ground with the facial expression of a dead fish in a fish market. Snoke is dead as shit.
Anakins lightsaber: 1.) Has murdered children 2.) Has murdered Count Dooku 3.) Was lost in Cloud City 4.) Has murdered Snoke Pretty impressive I would say
I hate the way they killed off Snoke. I think Ray and Kylo should have gone against him in a lightsaber battle. We could have had another Qui-Gon-Jinn/Obi-Wan-Kenobi vs Darth Maul fight there.
So what. Same hapened to Darth Maul and he was fixed with robotized waist and legs. Same can be done with Snooke or Snoke. Remember Grievous, as long as brain and heart has connection the individual is not dead.
So was Snokes death. Palpatine force lighting on Luke so preoccupied Vader grabbed him and threw him killing him. Snoke distracted Kylo gave him a poke and he's dead.
This fucking music played every 2 seconds in the fucking movie to the point that it lost its meaning. No matter what happened, it started playing. Jesus christ stop.
I have to admit this scene was really good. I thought the movie was going to recover from this point on but NOPE! I don't know who the credible villain is going to be now. It's definitely not Kylo. He's a weak villain. He's Meh. Back Street boy as the main star wars villain. No thanks.
Is there someone like a blind fanboy that liked that this happened, so I can hear them defend it? I really wanna hear why it was so awesome. To me, Snoke might be one of the most wasted characters & villains in the entire movie-industri, so please defend it.
nico olsen Well I didn’t like it too much that he died, butttt: it sets up Kylo as the ultimate villain for next episode and the rest of episode 8. I can’t deny I get goosebumps when Rey catches the lightsaber after Snoke is sliced and they fight the praetorian guard together. It also neatfully doesn’t rip off ROTJ by lettinng Kylo turn to the light
nico olsen I for one don't understand why everyone is so pissed. Snoke was never shown to be unbelievably powerful or important to the story. They killed him off to further the arc of the trilogy's true main villain, Kylo Ren. And besides, if he really is Plagueis like some fan theories suggested, then it shouldn't really matter that he died here, should it?
Lee Marsh exactly two perfect characters ruined. Snoke could be wonderful villain, he is not like Kylo who is annoying and change idea in almost three seconds. I hope that he will return somehow and kill or ben or rey and the other one sacrifices himself/herself to save the other one. And luke well... they have destroyed one of the most beautiful characters in the saga
Proto 99 u r rite they shit on luke.kathleen rian fucked up star wars. Kathleen hates men u can tell.miss lucas I loved prequels.the one which did not like prequels like them now.rey parents r nobody's what a shit thing think up.sge a skywalker or solo.she just got 2 much looks like leia+padame
This is almost a complete rip off of ROTJ with the Emperor constantly baiting Luke and taking joy in his conflict while destroying the Rebel fleet. Has the Last Jedi and Force Awakens done anything original or are audiences and fans just wanting the same thing over and over?
Reasons why they are not the sith the empire is one not the sith the empire is a regime the first order took their merits and removed alot of their issues yeh they look the same or similar but thats cause the difference was never the intention dont fix what aint broke fix what is and then ben killing snoke snoke might not being really dead ben becoming the new supreme leader and the fact that there are still the knights of ren who are all the force users who left with ben when he destroyed the temple unlike anakin bitch ass killing children
This scene would have played out much better if they didn't show you the Lightsaber turning toward him. If the focus was kept on Kylo's hand movements, it would have had a much more impactful shock.
Yeah, it looked like it was intended as a surprise but it really wasn't. Same with other shots of the movie.
Maldracai True.
It was cool anyway.
Or in the other hand show us how kylo move the lightsaber to snoke, but snoke notices that at the last second and deflect the lightsaber forcing rey and kylo in a lightsaber duel against snoke 2 vs 1
“He didn’t even have the high ground!”

Indo Science Yes, but pay attention to the words. He must be aware of what Kylo was doing.

Kylo Ren: omae no shindiu
Snoke: NANI?

Snoke: *roblox Death sound*
TheManOfTheMemes lol i love roblox 😂😂😂
DAMN IF THR MOVIE THEATRE FOUND OUT YOU RECORDED THIS YOUR DEAD
You're*
This is Sweden... you get like 6 months in jail for rape.. he will be fine ;)
They cut you in half in your seat
That..my friend, is RISKY

Snoke got Darth Mauled except I think he’s going to stay down
At the moment when Snoke died, the Praetorian guards took like 6 seconds to be able to fight not immediately. Strange tho!
Remember that a few moment before that Snoke ordered them to stand down. That means they were far and probably did not see the lightsaber igniting.
A powerful and twisted scene, one of the best of the saga.
Why on earth did they waste Snoke's character in such a way. What a waste. Stupid Disney.
I get this is refreshing to breakaway from the Order of the Rule of two Two

I guess you can say Snoke...
... had to split
Im giving you like for recording in cinema. That is very risky
Thanks!
I screamed in the cinema when this happend.
I was pissed as well.
Best part of the movie right here. When she looks at him and they dominate every single one of the guards. Tears.
So fucking great! Love this scene! Way to put a spin on everyone's shitty preconceived notions! And the battle that ensues it just plain amazing.
Then right after the battle they go and ruin it by having Kylo just want to crave power, He shouldn't give a shit about Rey but for no reason at all he does. The worst thing to happen now is if JJ turns it into some shitty love story because after the prequels nobody wants to see that.

Chad Honeycutt Except Star Wars is very complex, to a point that this new trilogy is so inconsistent compared to the others.
No...the OT was black and white. The PT added complexity. The ST...remains to be judged. Of course I'm only speaking on the movies.
You call peoples "preconceived notions" shit even though they were all better than this trash. So after ROTJ we're supposed to believe that some random force user came out of nowhere and made the first order? This scene was incredible, hands down the best of the entire film, so unexpected and amazing :D

Slow clap.
Darth Maul: welcome to the club
I like that part when he puts the light saber next to him but doesn't think it could kill him but then it does and hes like "oh shit I didn't see that coming" but it did.
Hey thanks for that vid but that’s a risky move you did there.
Hello there. Worth it for all of the fans out there. :)
Rasmus Potter well yeah you can get in a lot of trouble.
Linkzegamers1981 Not really lmao. The most that will likely happen is that the video gets taken down
Chelly Bean no not that, if they caught him in the movies he can get into trouble.
Me: Question No. 1
Can you live without STAR WARS?
You: NO !!!!!!!!!!!!
This was awesome! Some could say better than Obi Wan slicing Darth Maul in two!
Top safety rules never point a lightsaber at you
I cant believe he was a clone of Luke made from the hand they found in the cloud city.
arkbuble who the hell told you that ?
Agree when did you find that out?
It's a joke guys
Yeah I thought as much.
Indeed its a joke, the idea comes from the comics and yes its as stupid as it sounds.
Anyone else think it was really cool seeing rey hold kylo's lightsaber?
Snoke will comeback in episode 9
Don Paul he better
Revenge of the Snoke
No, Andy Serkis has said that he has not been called for episode 9, implying no Snoke.....
He better not be I fucking hate him he ruins the balance between the force and just makes the movie bullshit
half of him maybe..
"You have the spirit of a true jedi" rey is the chosen one like Anakin
setting up the most powerful villain and then killing him without giving any backstory whatsoever. its a bold strategy cotton, lets see how it plays out for them.
Can you upload the video of Super Trouper of Mamma Mia 2? I'll download it before it's blocked. Please
Post Production Video QC of subtitles is the source of this leak. Not hard to find out who & where.
At first I thought this movie was pretty good amid the mistakes but the more i look into it the more I say ...Seriously FUCK Rian Johnson for ruining this movie. Could have been an epic sequel to TFA and even answered some of our questions but nooooooooo
same here, my man
Chris Goomba He shouldn't kill off Luke... We do not have any old cast in Star Wars now. :'( Even Chewbacca is played by a new actor because the old one was too one.
Yeah, unless Rian Johnson mindfucked us all and this all turns out to be an epic set-up for Episode 9, this movie was ass.
ok who else notices in return of the Jedi the emperor made luke look out to the space battle, then she forced the saber that was by the ruler
Best movie scene in the last 15 years. For me at least.
This doesn't make sense. The guards already failed to protect Snoke. Why even fight???
They either die or go unemployed. Better die. Galaxy is a hard places too look for another "dark lord's elite guard" job.
That's their job. They would get fired. They would have to apply for an Snoke phone, Snoke care and a EBT card.

Fucking hell this is just Palpatine uncloaked mixed Darth Maul's first death.
You mean to tell me that massive ship only has 1 Cannon shooting ???
2:01 lol
I can read everyone’s minds on this scene. “Sooooo who was Snoke after all???”.
what did you film this with, your phone in a movie theater???
Missed opportunity there : I think that it would had been cooler if Ren just force pulled the saber to his hand.
2:12 best part

i love this scene
2:04 Guess you weren't expecting that true enemy to be you, huh, Snoke?
spiritgirl41192 Blame this on the Rian, Snoke had no say in this.
Rian is the true puppet-master in this saga.
spiritgirl41192 I have a very random thought...someone in the comment section said he lived in the prequels up until now...if you watched Dr. Strange, (witch I bet you did not) The sorcerer supreme drew power from the dark dimension to stay alive.Maybe that's what snoke did: drew power from the dark side just to stay alive...hmm...
Can you back to public angle eyes plis??? Or can you send me that song???
Wait, you could choose Swedish subtitles at the cinema? I only saw English subtitles when I booked.
Yes, you could. :)
They didn't have it on opening weekend then. :/
That's too bad. I watched it twice on the opening weekend, and I saw it with Swedish sub.
What city/cinema did you watch it at?
Bergakungen (Göteborg).
To the people saying Snoke may come back in the next movie. That would be dumb. We not only see snoke being cut in half, but at one point we see a close up of his body on the ground with the facial expression of a dead fish in a fish market. Snoke is dead as shit.
Anakins lightsaber:
1.) Has murdered children
2.) Has murdered Count Dooku
3.) Was lost in Cloud City
4.) Has murdered Snoke
Pretty impressive I would say
Meh! R2 is way more significant. He's the real hero of the entire Saga, except ep.7-8
Has murdered Nute Gunray
Has murdered random First Order stormtrooper
I hate the way they killed off Snoke. I think Ray and Kylo should have gone against him in a lightsaber battle. We could have had another Qui-Gon-Jinn/Obi-Wan-Kenobi vs Darth Maul fight there.
Well that was anticlimactic, no need to wait for Star Wars IX now as there is no hope left for it.
Title is misleading, *Red Herring's Death
If snoke is like a Sith Lord, then how didn’t he sense that coming?
Wow, ... you just zoomed in for not getting copyright
Poor Snoke.
I doubt it will happen but I really hope Snoke isn't dead.
The red curtains make it seem like a cheap set, after they burnt down it looked much cooler, like on ROTJ
reylo!reylo!
Lol I love how the guards are so useless, she runs up to him and they just stand there.
Watch the movie again. He ordered them to stand down.
So what. Same hapened to Darth Maul and he was fixed with robotized waist and legs. Same can be done with Snooke or Snoke. Remember Grievous, as long as brain and heart has connection the individual is not dead.
cunning, like his grandfather
Wow... that's... really shitty.
Goji fan 94 lmao
Boris Bonillo mate I'm sorry I just really like this movie so sorry.by goji fan94
this scene is way too close I.E, Luke watching the rebel alliance ships destroyed
Jesus christ stop.
boy u finna got tah JAIL
Snoke owned her
All your MM Vids are gone 😢 i knew it
Well snoke... it was either be killed by Luke or killed by kylo.... guess you chose the 2nd one then.,.
Does Snoke know that Ben was going to kill him
2:04 will turn out to be a meme
Still think we will hear about Snoke though, either in the new Rian Johnson trilogy (sigh...) or maybe in episode 9
nico olsen I for one don't understand why everyone is so pissed. Snoke was never shown to be unbelievably powerful or important to the story. They killed him off to further the arc of the trilogy's true main villain, Kylo Ren. And besides, if he really is Plagueis like some fan theories suggested, then it shouldn't really matter that he died here, should it?
“Such spunk”
Lol wut
Man, there was so much awesome stuff in TLJ. Too bad there was so much awful shit too. It's like a fine wine mixed with sugar-free Kool-Aid.
That was the shittiest death ever
Bullshit.. u can sense him igniting the lightsaber to kill his true enemy but not read his intentions, I hate snoke
This scene is dumb because snoke gets killed easily then they have this big and epic battle with the praetorian guards.
Spoiler alert!!
Smoke fucking dies
Only good part is snoke in this film+of course luke but they treated him like shit
Luke and Snoke were treated like shit
Spaceballs was a better Star Wars movie.
Disappointment #121 and a biggie.
This movie was shitty from the start, rip star wars
Svenska?
Wtf did i just watch ?
This is almost a complete rip off of ROTJ with the Emperor constantly baiting Luke and taking joy in his conflict while destroying the Rebel fleet. Has the Last Jedi and Force Awakens done anything original or are audiences and fans just wanting the same thing over and over?
It is not like it seems!
You spoiled it
Reasons why they are not the sith
the empire is one not the sith the empire is a regime the first order took their merits and removed alot of their issues yeh they look the same or similar but thats cause the difference was never the intention dont fix what aint broke fix what is and then ben killing snoke snoke might not being really dead ben becoming the new supreme leader and the fact that there are still the knights of ren who are all the force users who left with ben when he destroyed the temple unlike anakin bitch ass killing children
Var i Sverige bo du
WHO IS SNOKE? WOW ME MUST BE POWERFUL OH WAIT WHAT? HE'S DEAD? W T F
På svenska, kul.
jœvela svenske pirates....
DART MAUL NR.2
Also swedish bro
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!
Kylo Ren is such a weak character, my Nan could beat the shit out of him
