- In Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson is back as Black Widow: the super spy who's here to do super spy stuff. Except not really. There's no spy stuff. She literally just asks her fake mom where the main bad guy is and she tells her and that's about the end of anything spy related. Then she flips around a bunch and her body slams full force into many, many, many hard objects which would result in her breaking every bone in her body if she wasn't made of CGI.
The irony isn't lost on me that Marvel kept a tight leash on a female director for a movie about controlling women.

It wouldn't make much of a difference if the director was a woman, a man or microsoft clippy. In the new disney era the films are made in a sort of "assembly line" style. The directors just film some scenes based on some template/checklist already stablished by the studio and then other people just build the film with all the VFX which are done separately.

Even if done well the female directors keep getting pigeonholed (they can only make superhero movies that are a female vehicle). I think there is an upcoming marvel movie that is finally breaking that trend, but it’s insulting how long it took.
I didn't get the dislike ratio until I realized the last 5 minutes of this review were unedited footage of 9/11.
And there's my like. That happened 20 years ago. People were making fun of grumpy Vietnam vets in the 90s. I think the statute of limitations on making 9/11 jokes is up.

I didn't understand why there were so many dislikes until Mike mistakenly called the Austrian Alps "the Australian Alps," good to see some fellow geographers out there who won't stand for such inaccuracies
I too found that quite upsetting! Also when he was sharing the premise for the Berlin Syndrome movie it made we wonder if the journalist was actually Australian or possibly Austrian because of that!

I didn't get the dislikes, until they got to the part of the video where Mike put on a full KKK outfit complete with a hood, and said "Just to be clear, this outfit is not intended as satire or as an edgy joke. This is a sincere expression of my beliefs."

The opening to Black Widow sincerely was a masterpiece. If you haven't seen the movie, at least watch the opening credits. I really wanted the rest of the film to be just as good. I didn't like it... but I didn't hate it.

I was confused about the dislike ratio until I saw Mike Stoklasa at a grocery store in Milwaukee yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I would have just shouted from within earshot “hey, love your channel!” Then just wait and awkwardly stare and salivate in to a puddle until he slipped and broke a hip. Then I would be like “I’m so sorry, let me take you to the hospital” but I would really take him to my mountain cabin and lock him up like in Misery. I’d give him a lot of pain killers and make him watch FCC-mandated public affairs programming with me. Then I’d make him get my cat pregnant. I still can't believe how bad that final fight in Black Panther looked.
It has become the yardstick by which other crap CGI fight scenes are measured. It actually looks like a "Director's Cut" extra where they never finished the scene but included it on the disc for completeness.
I have seen more realistic looking animals in video games, compared to those fucking rhinos lmao.

And it’s hard to reshoot a good fight scene when your lead actor is in a gripping battle for his life.
the reason for it, and why 70% of all marvel movies is nothing but CGI is because costume designers, makeup artists, explosive technicians, and stunt actors, are all unionized and need to be treated and paid like actual human beings, but CGI, FX and VX studios arent unionized and are often outsourced to countries where unions dont exist. so they can save a ton of money by making everything CGI by using slave labor. isnt the magic of film making fun?
After watching this movie, she would probably have survived the fall in End Game.

Mike spontaneously mentions Data right after reading a plot synopsis about a girl named Lore. He didn't notice, but his brain did.
I think things like that are just a natural reflex for him at this point, like farting. Mike has farted so much Trek knowledge that it just falls out of his mouth without him even noticing.
There must be a list somewhere that lists the "Trek Point" for each video: the time stamp at which Mike makes a Trek reference.

Somewhere in the script to this movie is written the line "then the explosion pushes her away to safety".
There's an explosion and BW running away from it towards a (VERY THICK) window. The window is blown out by the explosion before BW reaches it, so BW can jump out unaffected by the explosion. I gotta say, I kinda love it.

The sterilization part is really weird because that would actually lead to more nasty health issues I won’t get into to get a full hysterectomy
I was a little surprised Jay and Mike were confused by that scene. I never got the impression the movie was making a big deal about the characters being sterilized as some kind of tragedy, or a misplaced attempt at gross-out humor. Rather, Natasha and Yelena were deliberately trying to make Alexei uncomfortable after _he'd_ made a sexist, jerkish comment about "that time of the month." Judging from his reaction it clearly worked, so he shut up and sat back down, which is what they wanted.
Out of context, it’s really bad, and even in context it’s just unnecessarily tasteless to put that in the movie

Kinda crazy that Naked Gun is one of the most consistently silly comedies of all time, and yet the villain had a better mind control plan/was more threatening that the villain in this movie.
She was just roasting him while he was beating her up, it was so weird.
being a comedy doesn't mean you have to have stupid writing, it means you have to have very smart writing or it'll be terrible

Thanks to RUclips's latest update, future generations will be befuddled by the comments section.
Marvel directors only direct the actors in their dramatic “talky” scenes; the action scenes are directed by different people…it keeps the superhero action scenes consistent, but it also makes the movies feel more and more disjointed because the directors they keep hiring aren’t often known for directing these action type movies. It’s a nice observation by Jay.
Is that why they bill the second unit director first in the end credits? hmm
That’s interesting… that’s how Japanese special effects films are made. However, in Japan it’s a true collaboration, with both directors getting credited and acknowledged.
It's probably a lot cheaper for the studios as well. Capitalism makes the best art!
Also, all action sequences look the same, is the reason why all third acts in MCU movies look almost identical.
