    Sheeeesh, that captain slammed on them breaks to make that taxiway, seems to be a common thing at MSY😂

      @kg.aviation 2 года назад +3

      Yeah, well a few things…
      1. Landings are pretty common on runway 2/20 with winds from the south. 2. Runway 2/20 also happens to be only 7,000 feet long. To put that into perspective, that’s only 500 feet longer than the longest runway at MDW.
      3. I’m sure the pilots wanted to make the earliest taxiway for a shorter taxi to the gate. 😉

      Lol.😄 Yeah right. If he would've overshot it that United plane that took off right behind wouldn't have known it and from the looks of it, it looks like it might've either hit it as it took off or the turbulence from that plane as it took off over the head of this one would've left one scary vibration behind that would've shook this plane and got people panicking and screaming and stuff.

    As a foreigner I could not imagine New Orleans was so green, so beautiful, so much nature. And so this short but amazing video. Fantastic approach along the river, all those ships aligned one after the other towards sunset. Almost poetry. Thank you. Congratulations.

    Wow!! Very stunning approach! But geez that last minute exit off the runway though! I can already feel the pilots pressing down firmly on the brakes lol

    It's amazing how industrial Nola and the Mississippi really are. The river is busy as heck!!! Thanks for sharing. I love new orleans. Been there many times, but always drove from Miami, where I live. Long drive, but a beautiful one.

      I’m from Miami and live in Nola now, used to do the 11 hr drive in one shot when I was younger, tried it last year, had the head sticking out the window near the broward line .. can’t hack the straight shot anymore 🤷‍♂️

    Beautiful approach, and the Mississippi looks so peaceful and tranquil. New Orleans is really awesome from sky above.

    WOW... some good views... brings back memories of my visit to New Orleans back in early 2000 in celebration of my birthday. Visited the Bayou, saw some alligators. For me, going to New Orleans was almost like going over to Europe, almost as long of a trip and when you get there, the taxi drivers barely speak any English.

      Gators and a lot of other things that bite such as water moccasins, canebrake rattlers and copperheads but the worst biters hang out in the French Quarter!

      Well, I said I'd given up on Twitter, not that I'd abandoned it completely haha. I still have an account, but I haven't used it in over 3 years. I leave it in my account page and descriptions simply because you're expected to have a twitter account theses days haha.

    It's strange to me that you land on the short north-south runway instead of the usual approach from the west, which is to cross the Bonnet Carre Spillway following Interstate 10 on the other side of the river and land on the longer east-west runway. Must've been strong north wind or something? That's my guess anyway. It's always a thrill to fly low just over the tops of huge cargo ships when crossing the river on the landing seen here.
    The view of the river you're seeing follows an area between Baton Rouge and New Orleans known as Cancer Alley because of higher cancer rates in small towns near all those refineries you see in Ascension, St. John, and St. James parishes. It is all former plantation country - there is a lot of history in these parishes worth reading about.

    Gorgeous ?? I counted 5 oil refineries & storage!!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 года назад

      Yes. I think Gorgeous is a great adjective for this video. Just because there are oil refineries in the video, doesn't mean the overall scenery isn't gorgeous. Those green landscapes, the Mississippi river and the golden hour light makes up for any oil refineries. You've got to look at the whole picture my friend. Plus, just because they're manmade objects, doesn't mean they can't add a certain element to the scenery. I mean, the shot as we fly right over the river on final approach, with oil tankers lined up, heading up the river is quite a stunning visual, I think.
