It shouldn't force this protection to any conversation. It should be optional because by making it end-to-end incepted means you get drawbacks regular conversations didn't have, like not being able to search for past messages by using key words on "search" which is a serious downgrade. Heck, it can't even send big emojis now and I've seen people reporting they can't use messenger's emojis at all or not being able to preview videos anymore
agree🤝
For regular people it’s not great. For criminals though, it’s now like Christmas for them everyday with what Apple and Meta rolled out with at the end of 2023
I agree!
we really agree for this,
I literally can't send or request money from any of my friends anymore, what the fuck is wrong with facebook!!!
Woohoo! Privacy upgrade on Facebook Messenger! This is fantastic news, thanks for explaining what end-to-end encryption means in simple terms.
Hey there! Absolutely thrilled to hear you're excited about the privacy upgrade on Facebook Messenger! 🎉 It's indeed fantastic news. End-to-end encryption is like having a private conversation in a sealed room - only you and the person you're chatting with can understand what's being said.
Test it, normally Facebook can also disable your account for example when you are writing words not in THEIR sentence. It`s just fake security.
Can you show how to turn it off or why it gets turned on I went to bed and woke up with that end to end encryption turned on and I dunno why
Right? I also want to know what causes it to do that.
Unfortunately, there's no way to disable end-to-end encryption in existing chats on Messenger anymore. The 'Messenger Upgraded the Security of This Chat' message means Facebook automatically enabled end-to-end encryption for increased security.
What alerts Facebook to do this, exactly? Or "Meta" 🙄 rather, lol
It's very interesting how I've never before had this happen to a message, yet last night, they seemingly chose to enable it on the message they did.
Just out of the blue. 🙂 Seemingly.
Curiouser & Curiouser, folks!
I'd love to hear your theory/theories if anyone happens to have any!
Thanks ahead of time, my friends. Take care.
@@techunow - I'm having issues with sending messages after the security update to the end-to-end encryption. One person tells me it shows me typing on their side of the chat windown but nothing comes through on their side of the chat windown. Is there something I can do to fix this? I hate not being able to chat with some people on there bc of this security upgrade.
it protected so well, that I cannont see my own messages.... no solution.
If you're encountering difficulties accessing your own messages due to enhanced security measures, I recommend reaching out to Messenger support for assistance.
If you have a friend request that is not been accepted by the person. Can I still send them private messages anyway with the Encryption ?
Oh good thanks
Good sharing
Thanks! Do you have any questions about end-to-end encryption on Messenger?
Why is it only certain messages and certain people
Thank you for sharing this 🙏
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the information helpful. If you have any more questions or if there's anything else you'd like to know, feel free to ask!
@@techunowwhy is it only certain messages and certain people
I notice it would delete some chats i would have just the day before
Great info! I appreciate the heads up about the upgraded security. Knowing that messages and calls are now protected with end-to-end encryption adds an extra layer of confidence in using Messenger. Thanks for keeping us informed! 🔒✨
You're welcome! Glad you found the info helpful. Absolutely, the added layer of end-to-end encryption does wonders for boosting confidence in Messenger's security.
Im confident I will be using other services that dont force crap like this...
Is it automatically enabled? Because I saw some contacts has and som hasn't that kind of pop up?
Yes, starting from January 2024, Messenger has automatically enabled end-to-end encryption by default for chats. So, if you've noticed some contacts with the upgraded security message and others without it, it's likely because the feature is gradually rolling out to all users.
I was able to go into settings and turn it off under end to end encryption then message storage. Still don’t understand why it’s only on for some messages & if the people I message need a passcode.
Or at least I thought I turned it off… it says secure storage off.
Because the other person might have the extra security enabled.
Not to take it out on you and like anyone else I appreciate extra security, however, now all my chats from March 24th on are gone. I talk to coworkers and friends and all those chats, pics etc are gone ! That's horrible way to do anything !!! Loose my data ? wow
We will do this on all chat or specific chat?
What causes the message to get a better security though
Exactly
Why is it that only “one” of my chats has that protection, what is it about that particular chat that all the sudden has that additional security??
Same here why only one of my chats have that protection?
There could be a number of reasons why only one of your chats has end-to-end encryption enabled. It's possible that you or the other person in the chat enabled it manually. Alternatively, it's possible that Facebook Messenger has enabled it automatically for certain chats. It may take some time to roll out fully.
Our conversations ain't private. Facebook still is watching the conversations
It means that only you and the recipient can read the messages. Facebook or any other third party cannot access the content of your messages. So, rest assured, your conversations are indeed private and secure.
@@techunow Facebook can do whatever they want, and very simply look at anyones conversation if they felt like it.
@@techunow How naive you are, sir.
Why does it only do it to some conversations?
Excuse me. The pop-up screen says, "Messenger is getting a security upgrade." What does that mean? And how do I ever do this?
The pop-up screen indicating that "Messenger is getting a security upgrade" signifies that Facebook Messenger is implementing enhanced security features to better protect user data and communications. This upgrade involves the implementation of end-to-end encryption, which ensures that only the sender and recipient can read the messages exchanged.
How do i get it off? i did not put it on andnits not allowing me to send memories to my nieces
There's no way to directly disable end-to-end encryption for existing chats in Messenger. Once a conversation is switched to end-to-end encryption, it stays encrypted.
So does Messenger do that just randomly? because it literally happened to only one conversation on my messenger, like nobody else, only this specific person, nobody else’s conversation had this encryption thing, so I’m just curious if messenger just randomly does it to people it chooses or if the person in question is responsible for it or has something to do with it, cause I’m also messaging this person on another account and the same thing happened on the other account. Nobody else’s conversation has this encryption thing pop-up, except for this person‘s conversation on both accounts.
While end-to-end encryption is enabled by default since January 2024, If you've noticed some contacts with the upgraded security message and others without it, it's likely because the feature is gradually rolling out to all users.
Why it is not showing delivered msg on chat ? How to check the msg is sent or deliver to someone?
The messages not showing as delivered in your chat might be due to the recipient turning off their "seen" status. When someone turns off their seen status, you won't be able to see if your messages have been delivered or read by them.

End-to-end encryption? Can you do a follow-up video diving deeper into how it works and what it means for our chats?
Absolutely! End-to-end encryption is a game-changer. Check out these vids for a deeper dive:

My friend started end to end encryption, i got the message from messenger that its encrypted frim now. What do i have to do now? Is it secure to use now or i need to do something? and their account is showing 2 keys and mine only 1 key. Please help.
You don't need to do anything special to use this feature; simply continue messaging as usual.
Oh my god, it just happened to my messanger now, but i still dont get it what is this for😢
Don't worry, it's actually a good thing! The message means Messenger just turned on end-to-end encryption for your chat. This basically adds an extra layer of security so that only you and the person you're chatting with can read your messages.
Exactly. I don't know why some messages trigger it and some don't.
@@techunowman I hope they removed this stupid update I can't take this update anymore or they can just add an turn off because I really hated it
If i set 6 digit pin will my messeges be deleted after 3 months?😢😢
No, setting a PIN in Messenger (which activates end-to-end encryption) will not cause your messages to be automatically deleted after 3 months.
Good
Glad you find it helpful! Knowing you have more secure chats on Messenger is definitely good news.
🤔🤔try to process the security feature I think it’s great but I also think being born in the 90's when we had MSN messages it might look like it’s going towards being too clever / advanced! < I understand the reason it’s just technology wasn’t as advanced back in my era as Google wasn’t around until late 90's! It is a lot to process after a sudden upgrade feature happens without any warning!
How i seen my old chats??
To view your old chats on Messenger, simply open the app and scroll through your conversation list. You can also use the search bar at the top of the screen to quickly find specific chats by typing keywords or the name of the person you chatted with. If you want to find old end-to-end encrypted chats on a different than the regular device then you need to enter a PIN code to access old conversations on a different device.

wow 😮
Glad it helped! Privacy matters, and encrypted chats are definitely a win.
@@techunow No they are not, I can't use paypal through facebook to send or receive money anymore, how the fuck does it make sense to get rid of that feature I used facebook for alllllll the time without my permission.
How we do this??
But it's so annoying....
I can't search the old conversation and in my case ..
All off the massege automatically went into end-to-end encrypted....
How i can fix it??
If unable to search your old messages, it might be because you've changed devices. When you switch devices, you'll need to enter the old PIN code to the new one to access your messages. Once you do that, your messages should be searchable again.
is this automatically enabled by messenger?
Yes, the "Messenger Upgraded The Security Of This Chat" message indicates that end-to-end encryption has been automatically enabled for that specific conversation by Messenger. This feature helps to enhance the security and privacy of your messages.
How to remove end to end encrption?
Deleting messages is an option, but since 2024, you can't turn off end-to-end encryption in Messenger. It's a security measure aimed at protecting your conversations and ensuring privacy.
Pay attention people clearly says not even Facebook can read the messages. Only a higher power court system or legal system subpoena can stop that if you receive this message, you are under investigation by police and they are monitoring your conversations with these individuals
Why is this even on for?
The "Messenger Upgraded The Security Of This Chat" notification indicates that the chat conversation has been enhanced with end-to-end encryption, which helps to ensure that only you and the recipient can access the messages exchanged in that chat.
Protect privacy my ass it made my heaf hurts why add this stufffffff
So why are certain messages selected and not all ??? 🤔
The feature might be gradually rolling out to users, so it's possible that not all of your messages have been upgraded yet. Just give it some time, and eventually, all your chats should have the upgraded security.
Can be disabled ?
No, end-to-end encryption cannot be disabled in individual chats on Facebook Messenger since January 2024. Once a chat is upgraded to have end-to-end encryption, it becomes a permanent security feature for that specific conversation.

This is a downgrade really. I don't know what is going on with software engineers these days, but it seems all software, apps, websites, etc are just becoming less and less user friendly, more and more annoying, more buggy and glitchy, etc. "Don't fix what's not broken" seems to be the complete OPPOSITE of their philosophy.
Useless
It is a worthless video
