- What Is End-to-end Encryption In Messenger | What does end to end encryption on Facebook Messenger
End-to-end encryption (E2EE) in Messenger is a security feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your messages and calls.
When E2EE is enabled, your messages are encrypted on your device before being sent and can only be decrypted by the recipient's device. This means that even if someone were to intercept your messages, they would not be able to read them.
#EndToEndEncryptionMessenger #Meaning #ETEE #EndToEndEncryption
This is especially important for sensitive conversations or information you wouldn't want others to access.
With End to end encryption, even Facebook itself cannot view and read your messages and Facebook offering an extra layer of privacy compared to standard Messenger chats.
Knowing your messages are protected with End-to-end encryption is enabled can provide peace of mind and enhance your overall trust in the messaging platform.
Enabling End To End encryption in Messenger significantly enhances the privacy and security of your messages and calls. You gain peace of mind knowing only you and the intended recipient can access the content of your conversations.
In today's video, I'm going to show you what is End-to-end encryption on Messenger? how it work and what happens when you call and send messages on Facebook Messenger using End-to-end encryption just watch this video till the end

Keep family messages safe? Mainly to keep the affair messages safe.
so who will be able to make that security for this chat: the sender or the receiver? is it same as block? thanks
Look, I am very very confused. I don’t understand how it works. I have a bunch of those little blocky number things and I have been trying to read the messages connected to him. Can you teach me how
It works ok to send messages to some people, but others do send. I have tried to send a message to a cousin. The message says, "sending", then it just disappears and doesn't go anywhere. Can I disable it and still send messages?
the recepient itself cant read the message.. there is no more peace of mind
If we don't follow each other but did had conversation but suddenly she ended upgraded this feature, will i lost contact with her , will i be only able to send her one message now
As a novice computer user, I am completely out of my depth with this new encryptions fiasco :( its asking me for a pin ( 6 numbers I think it was) where do I find this number please...I'm about to leave FB because its too complicated for me to get my head around :( I have no one to ask as I cant get to talk to anyone now
I understand that dealing with new security features can be challenging, especially if you're using Messenger on different device. The PIN you're being asked for is part of Facebook Messenger's upgraded end-to-end encryption, which ensures that only you can access your messages. This means that your chats are now secure, and no one else can see them except you or someone with the six-digit PIN code.
To create your six-digit PIN password, you can follow these steps within your Messenger app. Once created, you'll need to enter this PIN to access your messages on another device, such as another mobile phone or computer.
If you need visual guidance on how to create your PIN password, I recommend watching the following video tutorial. It will walk you through the process step-by-step.

How do I take off I can't send video to my friend not right
I hate it, I lost months of chats to a friend thanks to it
How?
@@shan49618 I disabled it as didn't want it and like all chat disappeared apart from last four days, forced me to input a pin even though messenger was already open on my phone, I wish it was back to how it was on how they stored it so we all not need to worry about losing chat
How that happend
it happened to me too! have you tried uninstalling the app and then downloading it again? i saw this hack on a reddit thread, and it worked for me as well so i was able to recover the messages
@@yes-zz5jf I'm too worried about it now, I wish we went to time before that where doesn't say stored on device or drive as then no messages deleted ever
Hello sir, 🙏🏻Please reply to my question…Suddenly my friend account got end to end encrypted which wasn’t before. But since it got encrypted I couldn’t see his active status nor last seen. But when he open his account & giving reply to me, then I can see the active (Green dot). But once he replies & close the account I can’t see his last seen. Please reply me why it’s happening?? He set himself like that or what maybe the reason??
This is happening because your friend turned on end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for your chat. E2EE adds an extra layer of privacy to your conversations, ensuring that only you and your friend can see the messages.
Additionally, Messenger has two more features: disabling active status and hiding message seen status. Your friend might have turned on these as well.
@@techunow Thank you so much sir for your Response..👍🏻🥰
@@techunow I got it now 👍🏻
How can i recover my older messages? It is not showing after i changed my device only some messages are visible now ,i had a important messages which is deleted automatically now .Help!
I understand your concern. When you log in to a new device, you'll need to enter your Messenger end-to-end encryption PIN code. This PIN is essential for accessing your old messages for privacy reasons. Once you enter the correct PIN, you should be able to retrieve your older messages. If you're having trouble with this process, feel free to reach out for further assistance!
It is stiil not showing after i enterded the pin
To regain access to those old chats, you'll need to enter your old PIN code (that is created on old device). Once you've entered the correct old PIN code, you should be able to access your old chats without any issues. Creating new one does not work.@@ninetyninethousandninehund390
is there any way to turn off the end to end encryption enabled in a conversation without deleting the conversation?
go to privacy safety
Unfortunately, on Messenger currently, there isn't a way to disable end-to-end encryption for existing chats.
But your private messages are not actually private. I've been in Facebook jail many times because they flagged my messages between me and my fiancé. We talk about adult stuff which is just for us to see only. Facebook needs to back off and let us talk and stop penalizing us. We aren't doing anything wrong. Both me and my fiancé are legal adults.
Why don't you just talk in person or text? Do you have to talk about adult stuff on messenger? Lol

Hi, what apps offer this end to end encryption.
What would happen if you no longer have access to the device is their anyway that certain information be transferred over to another device to continue the communication.
End-to-end encryption is a crucial feature for maintaining privacy and security in messaging apps. Currently, popular apps like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Telegram offer end-to-end encryption to protect your messages.
Now, concerning your query about transferring information to another device, In Messenger, to access your old messages on a new device, you need to add a PIN code. This PIN code is associated with your account and is created using your old device. If you don't add this PIN code to your new device, you might face difficulty accessing your old messages, as they are encrypted for privacy and security reasons.
@@techunow Thank you so much, I'm new to this I'm trying to understand. ( Technology 101, devices, etc )
I forgot the PIN code to back to turn on end to end-to-end encrypted what do I do help please
Does this end to encrypted feature also encrypt our photos, videos and voice messages?
Yes, end-to-end encryption in Messenger encrypts not only text messages but also photos, videos, voice messages, and any other media shared within the platform.
Fuck this update now it ruined everything for me @@techunow
how come i get with certain people only? did they enable it or did facebook do it
Yes I too have same question spinning in my head 😩
me three! I just noticed it today, couldnt reply to a message with the arrow like i usually do. but i can do that with other friends.
I badly need your help, I didn't enable any of this end to end encryption on my messager it just came out of nowhere and few of my contacts has it, my concern is I can't call my partner same as her on calling me on messenger how can I disable this end to end encryption or how can I still call her while we're on this?
Hey there! It sounds like you're experiencing some unexpected issues with end-to-end encryption on Messenger. Unfortunately, as of January 2024, this feature can't be disabled. However, for the calling problem you're facing, I'd recommend updating your Messenger app to the latest version and clearing the cache and data.
@@techunow I updated my Messenger and it worked! Thank you so much 💕
What’s the purpose of end-to-end encrypted message feature? I’ve seen your replies to the comments here but it still doesn’t make sense as me and the recepient is the only one who have access to our messages not unless someone else or a unauthorize third-party have access to our personal accounts. Please elaborate more.
End-to-end encryption adds an extra layer of security to your messages by ensuring that only you and the intended recipient can read the messages. This means that even if someone were to intercept the messages while they're being transmitted, they wouldn't be able to decipher them without the encryption key.
The purpose of this feature is to protect your privacy and sensitive information from unauthorized access, including potential breaches or hacking attempts.
What if someone has my phone & Opens up a chat of one of my friends which I’ve set up an end- to -end encryption with, can the person who has my phone see & read my messages to & from my friend.
I’m so confused isn’t this what secure messages are supposed to do? What all does this do? Why does Facebook not make all messages like that rather than having someone activate it?
my thoughts exactly, I would rather have them make an option to activate/disable it, its annoying, all my pinned messages i cannot view, i cannot reply to a searched keyword in chat history etc
I dont see the check sign in messenger anymore whenever i send a message, i didnt even enable this
You can't enable or disable end-to-end encryption on Messenger anymore. Since January 2024, it's an automatic security feature for all chats.
Please give full instructions
What is the star next to one of the 4 devices
The star next to one of the four devices in Messenger signifies the primary device you've chosen for managing your Messenger notifications and conversations. But I need more information to say what exactly it is. Could you please clarify where exactly you're seeing the star symbol next to one of the four devices? Is it in the Messenger device login history or elsewhere?
I have alot of important files got lost
Is this feature optional ? what I mean is can someone activate it by choice and choose the person to activate it with or is it automatically enabled by Facebook ?
You can turn it off after you make a pin. Go to the settings and look for ''Privacy & Settings'' > ''End to End encryption chats'' > Message storage > Turn off Secure Storage.
What are the keys mean? It says she 2 has keys and I have 1 key
Pag pu b n encrypted ko ung k chat ko mababasa p din b nia mga messages ko at mkkreply p din b cia ?
End-to-end encryption ensures that only you and the person you're communicating with can read what is sent and nobody in between, not even the messenger itself. So, yes, your messages can still be read and replied to, but only by you and the recipient. It adds an extra layer of security to your conversations.
If a person turn on end to end encryption on their phone does it mean there cheating and don’t want the new person to see the messages
Lmaooo my wife just accused me of having this activated for the reason that I’m being sneaky but I’m innocent. I came here to see what is this end to end encryption. I never activated this bs.
Turning on end-to-end encryption on Messenger doesn't necessarily mean that someone is cheating or trying to hide messages from a new person. End-to-end encryption is a privacy feature that enhances the security of your conversations by ensuring that only you and the intended recipient can read the messages.
Hi, why does only one of my friends and i's chat has the end to end encrytion but all my other friends dont have it so when i click to talk to one of my friends it has no end to end in the side, but my bestie it says does and my second question is when i click end to end encryption it says she has 2 keys and i have 1 key
The "keys" refer to the encryption keys used to secure your messages. Each key is unique and helps protect the privacy of your conversation. You says "she has 2 keys and you have 1 key," it means that your conversation is encrypted with two keys on her end and one key on your end.
This ensures that only the people involved in the conversation can read the messages. It's a part of the end-to-end encryption process to keep your chats secure.
whats the purpose people using this privacy chat for cheating?
While any technology can be misused, end-to-end encryption isn't designed specifically for cheating. It primarily aims to increase privacy and security for all forms of communication, protecting conversations from unauthorized access. Think of it like securing a digital lock on your messages, not just for hiding secrets.
To be honest, I didn't get it, what's the use and all about 😂😂😂
Why can't i send messages or the person block me
does facebook invades our private messages if we only use standard messages chats?
End-to-end encryption in Messenger ensures that only you and the person you're communicating with can read what's sent. Facebook doesn't have access to your private messages, even with standard messages chats. Your conversations remain secure and private, but anyone can access your message if someone is able to login to your Messenger account.
@@techunow thank you for your help. I'm relieved
By E2E encryption have a new problem. By this E2E encryption my partner can not see my messages.
How to solve it.
If your partner is unable to see your messages due to end-to-end encryption, it's possible that they don't have access to your encryption PIN code.
To resolve this, you'll need to provide your partner with the end-to-end encryption PIN code. This will allow them to access all chat messages and ensure that both of you can communicate securely without any issues.
@@techunow how can I provide her e2e encryption pin code.
Pls. details.
I still don’t get it 😂
If you girlfriend convenn yo to give her your Facebook password se wiñ be able to se all your conversations I think that’s what se did to me
because my girlfriend using this end to end i dont have any evidence that sges cheating on me coz theres no messnge no call only key i see
I understand your concerns and how frustrating it can be when you feel a lack of trust. End-to-end encryption can indeed make it difficult to access conversations, but it's important to remember that technology shouldn't be the foundation of a relationship. Open communication and honesty are truly vital. If you're experiencing doubts or insecurities, the best approach might be to directly talk to your girlfriend about your concerns and feelings.
Can you tell me what can be the drawbacks of it it just popped up today i can’t turn off too
@@techunow even your replies are made of chat gpt. Useless channel.
@@techunow damn that really hit home for me, thanks I needed that today
I lost a bunch of chats and it’s deleting conversations
I honestly hate this feature
haha same bro, this feature is broken ngl. Especially when you lost your old phone and try to recover your message with your new phone even after pin code
Does all the chat and media will deleted if it say end to end encryption, thankyou.
Enabling end-to-end encryption in Facebook Messenger, does not automatically delete your existing chats and media in the standard conversation.
Is the end to end of encryption the same as blocking someone?
That's what I'm believing
No, end-to-end encryption and blocking someone are not the same.
End-to-end encryption ensures that only you and the person you're communicating with can read the messages. It keeps your conversations private and secure from third parties, including the platform itself.
Blocking someone, on the other hand, means preventing that person from contacting you. When you block someone, they can't send you messages, see your profile, or interact with you in any way on the platform.
So, end-to-end encryption is about privacy and security of your messages, while blocking is about controlling who can contact you.
How to remove/stop the end to end encrypted messages
Currently, there isn't a way to disable end-to-end encryption for existing chats.
So the recipient is not seeing my messages?
i want to stop encrypted messehes on messanger and just go back to normal please
It's important to understand that as of January 2024, end-to-end encryption is enabled by default for all Messenger chats and calls. This means that your messages are only accessible to you and the people you're talking to, and no one else, including Meta, can see or listen to them. And no one can go back to the previous normal chats.
Can't I go back????
Can I go back?
I don't know if my crush hates me or not😂
"message sent before this device was added to this conversation .this message cannot be delivered" what does it mean? Can you explain
How to stop end of end encryption
Since January 2024, there isn't a way to disable end-to-end encryption for chats in Messenger. Once a conversation is switched to end-to-end encryption, it stays encrypted.
If I trun off Security Storage what will happend?
If you turn off Security Storage in Messenger, any messages or media files stored securely in your device's storage will be removed.
How do I turn it off?
At the moment, there isn't an option to turn off end-to-end encryption in Messenger.
Cheaters using this stupid features
I understand your frustration. However, end-to-end encryption itself isn't the issue, but rather the choices individuals make.
