Dough, thank you so much for your videos and podcast. Real jewels!!. Thanks too for your Lyme book. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much .Chronic here...but alive and kicking(some days...) ;-)
Wow those pres sound absolutely fantastic. I love my 414s also but oh my does it have it on that chain. What a fantastic recording!....Very impressive tonal color as in none but real air and so so deep and sweet. Absolutely fantastic.
Multiple VT2, and 4 owner here......Thanks for sharing the vid Doug, always interesting to hear your take on things......sounded smooth......makes me want to get like 8 more channels of your pre :)
Don't get me wrong please, it's awesome and great work! but I have a problem with the Cajon not being super tight all the time (although played very tasty!) and soundwise the cajon is "in a different room" and for such an acoustic production it sounds a little weird. To close also to the listener. Much closer than the main vocals...
I agree. The Cajon was the weakest part of this production. It was also the first time I recorded a Cajon and due to time constraints, there was not a lot of opportunity to experiment with mic'ing it. Despite that, I still like listening to this track.
The Unity speakers are very good. I think the PMCs are better in many respects, but I am always amazed at the Rock speakers. An excellent amp design is an important factor, in my opinion.
Christian -- It is a C414, in an AKG shockmount & windscreen made for the 414. I don't know if AKG still makes that or not. I've had it since the 1980s.
Thanks to all of you who found this useful. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

I see you’re using the Unity Audio Rocks! How do you like them? Have you compared them to PMCs?

Hi..Wich converters did you used .?
Radar Nyquist
The converters were Radar Nyquist for everything.
Hey Doug! You state the vocal mic is an C414. The mic looks unlike any C414 version I've ever seen, can you elaborate?

@@DWFearnHazelriggIndustries Thanks! I thought it might be a screen but there's no version like that available right now.
