I got a 2018. Love it to death, but The 2017 were best sounding tributes. The 2018 has the mahogany neck, non weight relief. These guitars were advertised as the workhorse Les Paul for working musicians who didn’t want to take their standards on tour.Hold on to that bad boy.

I have a 2021 Gibson Standard Tribute Sg paid $1,300 but I also bought a 2021 Epiphone modern figured Sg I really have to say the Epiphone is the better guitar all around

I have not played the 2021 Tributes but my 2017 is a beast of a guitar. I dig the new Epiphones. A lot of guitar for the money.

As far as I’m concerned it’s still a Studio 🤷‍♂️. If you really want a Les Paul , spend the coin and buy a Standard 😉

I mean yes it’s basically a Studio but a Studio is still a Les Paul. If you prefer the binding and fancier appointments then yes save for a standard. If you don’t care about that stuff but want a real deal Les Paul the Studio’s & Tributes are a great way to get into a Real Les Paul for a lot less money. Not everyone has $2800 to spend on a guitar. I for one don’t right now but am totally happy with my Tribute. After I gave her a good setup she plays/sounds just as good aa any higher end Gibson in my opinion.

@@VenancioPortalatin i honestly prefer the tribute finish over the standard. Thiner nitro, better resonance and the neck.... The neck finish and feel on my 2017 tribute is way better then on a std. I've never played anything that comes close to this neck. When i bought it, i was in the store for a std 60's and left with a tribute 60's. It all depends on what you like.
