Obviously a good chess player will destroy a great logician any day of the week but there is a very strategic component in chess that is only outdated because of how much chess theory has advanced. All the strategic brainwork has been done and laid out in easy to understand chess principles any kid can go read about. However with that said, people who dont know proper theory and understand the game can still have a battle of wits on the board as long as their opponent also does not know theory. From 2 very new players the more strategic player will always win.
