Nice overview of the basic filing systems, a good reference for beginners. The cartridge you couldn't tell which end was which in the beginning is a Platinum cartridge. You can always tell which end to insert by the silvery colored ball sealing the opening. My favorite filling systems are first, the Japanese style eyedroppers, then the Vacuum fillers. Cartridge converters are okay, but they don't have the capacity that I like (i don't change inks very often). The Piston fillers I like are the ones that I can remove the Nib unit and/or the Section to make it easier to access the barrel for cleaning and lubricating the piston. As for the PenBBS 487, I'm sure I mentioned in a different video comment, that I don't think the magnet in the cap is powerful enough to move the piston especially if the piston needs greasing because it's sticking. Personally, I think the 487 is a brilliant idea, but poor execution with a less than ideal magnet in the cap. The pen has far more ink capacity without the traditional screw mechanism taking up a lot of the space.

      Thanks.
I haven't Gott round to buying a stronger magnet yet. I need to work out how to seal the send first.

The long international cart is overlooked. It will hold more ink than many converters.

I like to change ink frequently so I prefer converters or cartridges both of which I always fill with a syringe. I then did the nib in the ink and begin writing immediately.

Thank you for sharing your fountain pen passion, Garry; I always look forward to these and this was a great overview, so tempted by filling systems I don't have...
In a bit of an inversion, I'm originally from Perth, WA but now live in NW England, so I'm paying over odds for Robert Oster and Van Dieman's, but swimming in Diamine!
    Cheers!

Very good overview, Garry. Yes, there are a couple of other fillers, but these are the most common, save for the penBBS filler. For me the eyedropper is the best, especially if it is the Japanese eyedropper version which I like that you can seal the barrel. Opus 88 and the MaJohn C4 are examples.
I like the extra capacity of an eyedropper as I do not change inks very often.

@@GarryEves Did you see if the Prera coul be eyedropper filled?

@paulmchugh1430 I've just bitten the bullet. I need the Prera for a couple of videos I'll be recording over the next few weeks so I;ve eyedropper it with Diamine Tranquility, a chameleon ink. Let's see how it goes.
