Dan Marcus he is also a filmmaker in his own right. An independent filmmaker I believe. When GOTG Vol. 3 trailer came out that was just incredible where you felt invested because it was the final film and for Superman Gunn wants that emotional investment from the audience that's what he is looking for in a Superman trailer. Superman: The movie was about believing a man can fly and Gunn wants to do something similar to that and it getting released on the 46th anniversary of Superman: The Movie trailer is the perfect Christmas gift.

I think the DCU doing more niche projects either with obscure characters / less mainstream genres (eg Claface horror) is really exciting and adds to the notion that whilst this will be an interconnected universe with crossovers and references each story will also be able to stand on it's own. That being said though I do think there'll need to be a balance were of you release some niche projects like Sgt Rock and Clayface you shoukd accompany that with a more well know IP in that same year to keep the general mainstream audience engaged each year. I have no reason not to trust Gunn and I'm super excited to watch the DCU unfold! 🔥

To speak to the origin thing, I feel like there’s a lot of ground that could still be covered on Superman’s origin. Maybe he doesn’t need a proper origin film, but a prequel movie focused on Jor-el and Lara on Krypton could easily work. There’s a novel called the Last Days of Krypton that does this and it’s a really cool concept.

imo, They should release a 'First Look' first in the mid december or the end of CCXP like they did for pattinson's Batman reveal and Joker 1's reveal- a subtle look at clark in smallville or somewhere with him transforming to superman or idk whatver that suits to a 'first look' and it should be well made and original to create the hype and then they should finally proceed to release the official teaser Trailer at SUPER BOWL in February and then finally releasing the Offical Trailer in April thus matching the deadpool blueprint then followed by several sub trailers or TV spots and then finally hitting the theaters- and obviously the 'Barbie' level marketing with it. But let's see and wait. Whatever they're upto, I am hopeful and excieted.

I wonder if the video games could be the prequels for the DCU. Imagine a Batman video game ,where you play as Dick Grayson slowly growing out of the robin roll and becoming Nightwing. We could see Barbara Gordon as bat girl, the old golden age version of Batwoman, and maybe a Superman cameo, because Dick does get the name Nightwing from Superman. We could get team that did Hogwarts Legacy to do that game, because imagine all the great level designs. Batmobile level, where your chasing the joker and Harley Quinn from there Joker mobile, as they Throw gag props at you. There could trippy Dream like levels for either scarecrow or the Mad Hatter. They could even go nuts with a Riddler’s puzzle labyrinth.

Origin stories can be done later in flashbacks and video games. Video games, specifically, are the best place for origins because they take 4-8 years to make and the current DCU will look drastically different over that time. Video games are an evergreen medium for stories that are impactful but not shaping the current direction of the cinematic universe.

Considering Matt Reeves and James Gunn had a meeting to discuss what characters they have big plans for; I believe Eve Karlo in The Penguin is the closest we’re ever going to get to a “clayface” in the Reeves-verse. Clayface was reduced to a subtle nod as to not interfere with the audience’s attention span for the character, pretty sure it’s because Gunn has plans to make clayface a really fleshed out character in the DCU

The ONLY thing I agree with James Gunn on, is the hit the ground running approach. You see it in comics all the time, it’s like you suddenly walk into a room and party has been going on for hours and there is beef, drama, lore and all kinds of things to discover. I don’t need a history lesson or a film filled to brim with exposition, I wanna discover these characters from the top down and that way we can finally get moving with the future timelines.

Yeah, I agree about just hitting the ground running when it comes to origin stories. I'm getting old and don't want to waste time rehashing origins that have already been done 20 times. If there is a character I'm not familiar with, I can look them up. Let's not waste time.
Actually, even with a team like Guardians of the Galaxy, we didn't really know origins of each team members, but we like them anyway. Origin story is not necessary need to start a first arc of DCU. I enjoy teen titans comic without knowing any character's origin story except Dick Grayson and Wally

I'm expecting the Superman poster to be somewhat similar to the 1978 film's poster, given Gunn's love for that movie. Concerning the complaints about the DCU skipping Batman's origins, do people realize Batman has only had one origin movie, Batman Begins? Every other incarnation in film has started with him already active in the costume. Batman '89 (and Mask of the Phantasm) had a couple flashbacks, and BvS had a short recap before jumping ahead, and that's it. Everyone knows Bruce Wayne's origin story already, we don't need to see it. As for the other Bat Family members, I personally feel that seeing Bruce recruiting and training multiple sidekicks throughout a whole movie or movies would make for a repetitive viewing experience. So while I would like to see the Robins' and Batgirl's origins, I don't think it's 100% necessary. Perhaps we could see one of them during the Clayface movie, if that's indeed DCU canon, leading into the Batman film.

While I would like to know who's playing Batman and Wonder Woman I feel like waiting is good maybe might attract bigger names down the road. Also I guess there's a rumor of a The Question series but nothing solid on that one yet, if true there's another to bring in some other stories.
15:46 wouldn't Andy Muschetti be the one actually casting Batman anyway? I'm sure Gunn probably has to greenlight it somehow but isn't it usually the director of that specific film that casts the characters? I know instances like say, Gunn casting Milly Alcock as Supergirl or Zack Snyder casting Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman were different since they first appeared in the respective director's movies, but I feel like people are under the impression that James Gunn is casting every single character in every single DCU project.
Origin stories can be done later in flashbacks and video games.
Video games, specifically, are the best place for origins because they take 4-8 years to make and the current DCU will look drastically different over that time. Video games are an evergreen medium for stories that are impactful but not shaping the current direction of the cinematic universe.

Boba I think that the Superman teaser needs to feel hopeful and be similar to the ad that revealed Krypto. The Poster should have Superman and the rest of the cast with Lex Luthor wear Apex suit in the background or giant S for Superman in the background and rest of the cast along with Superman in front of it.

Considering Matt Reeves and James Gunn had a meeting to discuss what characters they have big plans for; I believe Eve Karlo in The Penguin is the closest we’re ever going to get to a “clayface” in the Reeves-verse. Clayface was reduced to a subtle nod as to not interfere with the audience’s attention span for the character, pretty sure it’s because Gunn has plans to make clayface a really fleshed out character in the DCU

I completely agree. I love the idea of the existing universe. I don’t want to wait a decade or more to get to see Bruce or Clark or other well knowns actually doing something besides becoming. Granted, i have been reading comics for twenty five years, so it’s neither here nor there to me, but i do prefer the pre existing universe strongly. Some characters will need and will get origins. I am so excited for this to start. I absolutely cannot wait. So excited for Creature Commandos. Always look forward to your videos Boba.
I think major casting announcement is Jason Momoa as Lobo. He's probably getting a his own spinoff movie. I remember Natalie safran (his DC studios partner Peter safran's wife) confirming it in a comment section of one of the photos she took at the Aquaman 2 premiere.
This makes me curious about The Deathstroke x Bane film. Gunn says only greenlit when the script is right, and these are all different stories that happen to take place in the same world. I want to be a fly on the wall and hear what kind of amazing, unique scripts they are cooking.

The ONLY thing I agree with James Gunn on, is the hit the ground running approach. You see it in comics all the time, it’s like you suddenly walk into a room and party has been going on for hours and there is beef, drama, lore and all kinds of things to discover. I don’t need a history lesson or a film filled to brim with exposition, I wanna discover these characters from the top down and that way we can finally get moving with the future timelines.
I think people are overlooking that Gunn said Nina as well when saying circe in that post. Could this mean Nina Mazursky will be coming to live action too?

They’d never do this but the Superman poster I’d love: Just Clark Kent. Clark Kent in a crowd or queueing up for coffee or holding a door open for a lady or something. The idea Superman is just one of us, it could be anyone, he’s a part of humanity and he’s caring and polite and ordinary. Just him. Maybe there’s a glint of something in his eye, but he’s just Clark Kent.

Actually, even with a team like Guardians of the Galaxy, we didn't really know origins of each team members, but we like them anyway. Origin story is not necessary need to start a first arc of DCU. I enjoy teen titans comic without knowing any character's origin story except Dick Grayson and Wally

I'm expecting the Superman poster to be somewhat similar to the 1978 film's poster, given Gunn's love for that movie.
Concerning the complaints about the DCU skipping Batman's origins, do people realize Batman has only had one origin movie, Batman Begins? Every other incarnation in film has started with him already active in the costume. Batman '89 (and Mask of the Phantasm) had a couple flashbacks, and BvS had a short recap before jumping ahead, and that's it. Everyone knows Bruce Wayne's origin story already, we don't need to see it.
As for the other Bat Family members, I personally feel that seeing Bruce recruiting and training multiple sidekicks throughout a whole movie or movies would make for a repetitive viewing experience. So while I would like to see the Robins' and Batgirl's origins, I don't think it's 100% necessary. Perhaps we could see one of them during the Clayface movie, if that's indeed DCU canon, leading into the Batman film.

She was deskilled by Snyder, she had no powers of flight, her strength was way below comics accurate, and now Gunn isn't even valuing her enough to mention her. Im excited if the clayface movie gets made. As long as the character stays as the villain, and not some anti hero who later becomes a villain at the end for no reason.
I’d be in support of them approaching it like “The Penguin”: have him do things that make it absolutely clear the guy is no anti-hero, but at the same time don’t shy away from humanizing him as a character.
