      In real life, yes, but not on a movie set. In that clip where two guys walk into the church, they both have their guns drawn and pointed at Alec. Did THEY follow all gun safety rules up to the moment they drew their weapons, or were they relying on the armorer etc to follow the gun safety rules and rely on the "cold gun" that was called right before they drew? Alec is a patsy

      @@CharlesWolffe I agree with you 100% BUT even if Alec had popped open the cylinder and checked, would he have been able to pick out 1 live round, or did that round look like the other 5? I don't think AB registers very high on the intelligence scale, and he had to rely on his crew who were hired to ensure safety on the movie set. I think this is a matter of civil negligence, possibly even gross negligence, comparative negligence, or contributory negligence, but criminal negligence is going to be hard to prove.

    No question he should be convicted and 18 months is not enough. A police officer and parents in Michigan got 10-15 years for same charge. 2 of those 3 never shot anyone but were still charged. Alec short 2 killed one. Hmm only 18months? He could have been out by now. Anyone else would be in jail with a 1 to 2 day trial.
    They used REAL guns because
    1. They are as real as it gets no CGI can best it
    2. They are very inexpensive vs CGI
    So you get the best of both worlds. Price and realism. One problem is they can kill.
    At least two actors have been killed with Blanks one a barrel obstruction (like a pebble from the sand) another was actor was too close to the barrel.
    Alec was using the Gun for a laser pointer outside pointing it at actors giving directions. The guy had ZERO respect for safety.

    If that was a fake gun, he wouldn’t have that problem. They used a real gun and that should have raised the level of security with handling the gun. On the other hand , there aren’t supposed to be any real bullets. It’s difficult to check what is loaded in the gun, especially by an actor.

      Chandler "I was an actor... I know the rules and how all the protocol goes"
      YOU DO NOT!
      SAG-AFTRA argued that Baldwin shouldn’t be blamed and especially charged for the “negligent” use of the firearm, since that’s not the role of an actor, it’s the job of the armorer.
      “The guidelines do not make it the performer’s responsibility to check any firearm. Performers train to perform, and they are not required or expected to be experts on guns or experienced in their use,” SAG-AFTRA added. “The industry assigns that responsibility to qualified professionals who oversee their use and handling in every aspect. Anyone issued a firearm on set must be given training and guidance in its safe handling and use, but all activity with firearms on a set must be under the careful supervision and control of the professional armorer and the employer.”
      DAY 1 and I just can't stand the bias here. He's guilty in your eyes so you can't even look up the SAG-AFTRA rules for yourself?

    This is why I generally watch trials without commentary.
    The endless, “when you handle a gun” dialogue is hot air.
    Him being a producer has no impact on this accident, as it is not a producer’s job to clear a prop gun. Civil responsibility maybe, even definitely. But criminal? No shot.

    • @prizefighter7607
      @prizefighter7607 3 месяца назад

      Basic, common sense gun safety used in everyday life does not apply on a set, and I do not believe anyone repeating them in these comments is thinking critically about this case where a) there should never be live ammunition, and b) there is a dedicated employee whose job it is to ensure gun safety.
      Think of it like this:
      If this was an incident involving a car chase on set and they were getting shots of Alec driving up to and stopping in front of the camera and the set mechanic cleared the vehicle as safe, if Alec accidentally ran over the director because the break lines and steering column broke, would anyone really blame Alec for not popping the hood and checking the engine, break lines, etc. himself? If everyone is being honest about this situation they would blame the set mechanic for not doing their job and clearing a vehicle that was obviously not safe.

    The Defense opening actually made a lot of sense. This was a movie set, and gun safety rules should have been followed by the crew, not by the actor who thought he had an unloaded gun in his hand. While I think Alec THE PRODUCER is liable and should assume financial responsibility for compensating the death and injury of his employees, I dont think Alec the actor can be charged. Although it has not been pointed out yet, and I don't know if it will, why were there live rounds on the set? Who mixed live rounds with dummy rounds, and how is it possible that 1 of 6 rounds in that revolver was a live one? I wonder if it intentionally was planted by a disgruntled crew member, as they were having disagreements and people were walking off the set because of gun safety issues. So, someone, just to prove their point, planted a live round, not thinking someone was going to get shot, but intending to stir the pot or prove a point.

    • @CharlesWolffe
      @CharlesWolffe 3 месяца назад +4

      Gun safety needs to be followed by EVERYONE! A gun on set works exactly the same way as a gun anywhere else. If you point a gun on set it will do exactly what it is made to do, and if you are handling a gun, even on set, you're responsible for what happens when you pull the trigger. Being an actor doesn't give you immunity...

    The actors don't open and check the guns on their own for 2 reasons, 1 it's overly redundant and 2 if done on their own, it is a moment where you could then question "did they swap out a round", "did they tamper with the guns functionality" etc. You're biased opinion is unfair and prejudicial. The defense has the presumption of innocence and the state has to proove that he committed a crime and that no other person in his position would have the same putcome. If any other person was using that same gun at that same time, it would've still fired a live round, because the armorer made a major mistake. 💯
