Latrell Sprewell really had a shot to be the next MJ. He had the skills and the guy could jump out of the gym. He just didn't have the mentality and he couldn't control his temper. A lot of people have forgotten how good he really was.

agreed. He had a more selfish attitude and that led to his doom. His whole "I got kids to feed" while asking for insane amounts of money basically ended his career

He was my favorite college player when at USC. Scouting was so shaky at the time they listed Miner at 6'8" (edit: maybe it was just an annoncer) but he played so far above the rim he got away with it until the combine. Also got to see him score 25 against the Jazz and hit a turn around fade away 3 to force overtime. Unfortunately he got injuries and probably could not even describe what defense is so he never earned another contract after his rookie deal.

It's cringe(2 me) to see Kobe on the same line with lefraud. I don't recall 2 or 3 of the lower guys from the panel but with the exception of the lediva everyone else at least had one skill or weapon on the court similar or quasi similar to one of MJ's, some of them could fly from 1 or both legs(Vince i think was/is the best dunker in and out of the game so far thou i'm not sure about their verticals), some of them almost had his shooting ability(Ray, Wade, Kobe), some of them could play both ends of the floor(Kobe, Rider, Finley), some of them had the same flow and grace on the floor(Kobe, Grant Hill, Iverson), some of them had the same fundamentals, same 1-2 dribbles and shoot, some of them had the same control of the ball, some of them were closers, some good in of with plenty of moves etc...But still, none of them, even Kobe had it all or on the same level . Every time you compare 2 things it has to come to some similarities, isn't it? Or there's no comparison. And with the exception of both playing(well, one was playing, other is for half of his career now that loser that can only score when he's free) I will never understand why is lebum was and is still compared to MJ, his game lacks in all of these categories. Oh and btw, check him out when he's talking about "these guys should have never had to deal with the pressure ", wow, there was pressure until lefake one? Who knew? And for the most part if not all of them, these guys didn't invite the pressure like lemoron, none of them had a "chosen one" tattoo or do they?

In order, G. Hill easily couldve been the next MJ, but injuries ended his run before he ever hit his prime. Vince had all the attributes except the killer mentality to take him to that MJ/ Kobe level. Then theres Kobe the closest to ever get to holding the crown in his hands just not able to put in on. And the most unfortunate story of H. Miner who wouldve had a great NBA career had he never played the real GOAT, Michael Jordan.

Just shooting the sh*t: I think Anthony Edwards was deliberate in making that statement, so now he'll be uncoupled from Jordan comps and expectations. I remember Pietrus from the French national team, he was of similar stature to Jordan and could really elevate, he just didn't have the overall game and his defense was subpar for NBA competition. Miner might have thrived as a role player but carrying that "Baby Jordan" moniker killed his career. He had some injuries but chose not to rehab and get back in shape, he was only 25 years old when he retired. It would take some mental juice to be a competitive NBA player, and that doesn't even include being placed in unfair comparisons.

Seeing Lebron on the chart. I think Lebrons biggest mistake was starting to mirror MJ stat lines. He should have tried to be a better Magic. Try to average better than 13 assists a game and score like 20. He has the joking smile thing going and wanting to be friends with his teammates. He really should have concentrated on seriously passing the ball around and his team should have got him a big man and some scorers.

  • @thesphyrth

While we're at it, "I can be the next Steph" is an illusion. His height and frame might be below average by NBA standards, but it's another factor that makes it deceptive. No-one should get the same greenlight as himnwhen taking his kind of shots.
At least Trae knows that he is his own player. He has his ranged shots, but he treats them as his sidearm. His main weapon is his passing.
