Thanks, about to start accutane In a few weeks, nice to know. Just in case my derm don’t say anything about eating fatty foods. Also, trying to gain a little weight to this should be a win win
I have been on Accutane for about 7 months and I take 30 mg/day. I take it twice a day after a high fat meal. I have had no side effects except slightly drier lips than before. My skin has not become dry at all. I still get little pimples here and there but they go away after a few days. I worry that the dosage is too low for me, as I have none of the usual side effects and still break out a little every now and then, even though I am already on the 7th month. I have spoken to my doctor about these concerns, but he says that a higher dosage would increase the risks and that my skin has cleared up a lot, and that is all that matters. Is it normal not to have any side effects? Does this mean that the medication is not working?
I took a low daily dose for a longer time period. As my Derm explained to me, it’s the overall amount that you take that matters. I experienced very few side affects. My skin is still very clear almost 20 years later. But everyone is different so it’s impossible to predict your individual results.
Guys I am begging you, if you dermatologist is recommending accutane, please understand the side effects. If there is a history of stroke in your family, please I strongly recommend not to take any birth control pills or accutane. I have used accutane for 10 days and it messed be up. Guess what I had more pimples than with what I went to the doctor. Please guys, don’t put your skin through that shit. My lips had become so dry, they started bleeding way too much
My Derm said to take it in the morning (even had that in caps on the box) but I decided to take it straight after my main (most substantial) meal instead as I only have toast and tea in the morning! 😎✌🏼
I don't remember if I did this when I took it. I don't remember being told this and it worked for me. Interesting I believe you Dr.Dray but this seems like new news to me.
I had to take it for a little over a year because, even though I barely had any side effects from it (basically only dry skin) and very stable blood work, my skin was incredibly stubborn and slow to change, but eventually, it did. So far, I’m keeping my skin routine game up, and I avoid dairy products. After all this time, my skin is still clean.
Have you tried low dose yet? I did 2 normal rounds and now about to take low dose for years to make sure severe acne will never come back 😭 It always comes back after I stop

Im on Isotretinoin for the second time in my life now and can’t agree more! I also got horrible side effects if I took it with low fat food. With high fat meals suddenly the headaches and nausea were gone.

I took accutane for three months. went from not knowing what a headache was to have severe ones, as well as increased negative depression like thoughts. doctor told me to cut the pills since the headaches were a sign of a dangerous side effect. My acne came back 3 times worse later on. Now just using water to wash my face and watching what I eat, my skin got way better!! The caveman routine was the way to go for me💪
@memoonasaeed4408 my severe migraines and lightheaded feeling went away after I stopped taking the acutane. Unfortunately my hair line is still receding. And my acne came back to bite me but at least I don't feel like shit. It's like a 40 minute drive to my college, I almost wreaked a couple times with how bad I was feeling and he's still pushing for the accutane even though I had other issues going on as well like the cysts on my ovaries and the massive mood swings I had for months, the 2 to 3 weeks of bleeding each month and yet not a single doctor will take me seriously u get told it's normal.

My lips had become so dry, they started bleeding way too much
Don't give medical advice. Your derm sucks for not telling you that purging is normal lol. You described nothing abnormal
Is it ok to take food just after taking the tablet? Thank you for your advices
My Derm said to take it in the morning (even had that in caps on the box) but I decided to take it straight after my main (most substantial) meal instead as I only have toast and tea in the morning! 😎✌🏼
I don't remember if I did this when I took it. I don't remember being told this and it worked for me. Interesting
I believe you Dr.Dray but this seems like new news to me.
My sister’s triglycerides went through the roof! Accurate was poison to my teenage sister.
I checked the ingredient list of the isotretinoin pill im taking, it has vegetable oil. Im assuming thats there to increase absorption
I had to take it for a little over a year because, even though I barely had any side effects from it (basically only dry skin) and very stable blood work, my skin was incredibly stubborn and slow to change, but eventually, it did.
So far, I’m keeping my skin routine game up, and I avoid dairy products. After all this time, my skin is still clean.
doctor ,I wanna ask if I can use vitamine E on my face while I am taking accutane medicin or not?
speak to your dermatologist.
I’m slow but when you say take it with food do you mean right after the meal??
I did 5 rounds and always took it with high fat food 😭
Probably your acne is hormonal ..
@@soully2609 all acne is hormonal!
Have you tried low dose yet? I did 2 normal rounds and now about to take low dose for years to make sure severe acne will never come back 😭 It always comes back after I stop
@@chibio1255 yes I have been on low dose for over 7 years now (with a few breaks). For the most part it works great though I do get breakouts sometimes.
Or it failed because your acne is hormonal and accutane will not get rid or hormonal acne.
have you cleared up your skin? what do you do? i think i may have hormonal acne. either way i’m never taking accutane again
All acne is hormonal
@@bluegreen686 Wait how come?
Accutane does treat hormonal acne. And most acne is hormonal

I was taking it with Prednisona at breakfast, when I ran out of prednisona I have pusyules an cysts now, the wordt acne I've ever had :(
Isotretinoin accutane is permanent solution for pimple acne plzz reply dr😢
Did you take it?
Im on Isotretinoin for the second time in my life now and can’t agree more! I also got horrible side effects if I took it with low fat food. With high fat meals suddenly the headaches and nausea were gone.
Dr. Dray, I've been on accutane for 5 months and I don't get acne anymore but my face is still red. What kind of moisturizer can I use to fix this? or should I wait until i'm done with my course? I'm currently using vanicream moisturizing cream,
Try Bioderma Sensibio AR. Lasers also help with redness. One i tried is Genesis Laser
Taking a medication that permanently alters your physiology just because of bad teenage acne is insane
I start accutane and have to stop everytime cuz ut spikes my LDL n VLDL. What am u supposed to do 😭😭
I took accutane for three months. went from not knowing what a headache was to have severe ones, as well as increased negative depression like thoughts. doctor told me to cut the pills since the headaches were a sign of a dangerous side effect. My acne came back 3 times worse later on. Now just using water to wash my face and watching what I eat, my skin got way better!! The caveman routine was the way to go for me💪
I'm going through same, i got headaches hairloss joint pains dry eyes after isotretinoin. My acne is back but side effects still persist
@memoonasaeed4408 my severe migraines and lightheaded feeling went away after I stopped taking the acutane. Unfortunately my hair line is still receding. And my acne came back to bite me but at least I don't feel like shit. It's like a 40 minute drive to my college, I almost wreaked a couple times with how bad I was feeling and he's still pushing for the accutane even though I had other issues going on as well like the cysts on my ovaries and the massive mood swings I had for months, the 2 to 3 weeks of bleeding each month and yet not a single doctor will take me seriously u get told it's normal.
it causes chronic dry eye as well
I love this woman 😅
You are awesome Dr Dray and I always appreciate your info and advice but the eye roll and that throws me off a lot. I know it’s in a joking way but I feel like it’s a little in the ‘disrespecting side’. Just my opinion. You’re great
Can take it for only 3 months initially and if I’m traveling for the other 3 months will the break in between my treatment stop the effect?
After the ipledge thing i forgot about this rule omg 😭😭😭😭 IVE BEEN SELF SABOTAGING
That's why there's soja in regular isotret nowadays
Or almond butter if you’re all about that life
😂😂
I took my accutane with a spoonful of PB every time, but alas, the acne came back. Hormonal acne too strong 🥴😅
I have always found Peanut butter to make me extra oily.
@ Deena u stayed on antibiotics 10 years straight before you went on accutane?
Best time to take Accutane morning and night??
I’ve never taken nor needed to take Acutane. But I feel properly lectured now. I promise to eat more avocado’s and almond butter from now on.
why do you have to make fun of the people eating almond butter? 😂 it’s delicious and healthy.
Lol !! I know!
Probably the peanut butter craze, that now only almond butter is seen as healthy. Just my guess. Personally, I look only if palm oil and sugar are in it or not. Taste-wise - cashew butter wins ;)
@@almondish5911 PALM OIL ISN'T BAD. Stupid myth that has no scientific evidence to support it.
Guys we are all going to die one day
I just took my first dose (40 mg). How long does it take to start working?? Also should I cut out all my of acne face and body washes?
My dermatologist only told me to take it with food he never said anything about about fat
My derm did
Can you do a video on MelanoTan2… i recently purchased it and wanted to know you’re thought before i use it

Does anyone know how much accutane costs monthly without insurance
That would’ve been nice to know before taking it…………………
Will isotretinoin stop working ifi miss it for 3 days
Dr dray should i cover my face with a shemagh(arabic face cloth) or should i use sunscreen? Bcz i cant reapply sunscreen throughout the day
Can you recommend the best treatment for acne scars
How soon after finishing accutane can one get pregnant ?
Cringe overload
I took it 3 times and my dermatologist never told me this 😭😭 this could’ve saved me so much time
Can some one answer this how mich does it matter taking it with fatty food then just food
Can you make z video on difference between tretnojn and isotretnoin (aka acutane)?
Dr. Dray, you’re the best! You’re super strait forward in the most lovely and palatable way. Thank you for being one of the few people on the internet willing to call out the b@lls#it.
Why so loud
Yeah, ate that shit with like 100g of fat and well 6months later shit didn’t work
Is taking Accutane and prednisone safe
No way!
