    "The music video for 'Inferno' is an homage/parody of one of my fave Japanese TV shows, Zenryokusaka," Friedman says. "It's a weekly five-minute show where the entire premise is absolutely nothing but a girl running up a hill. Each week a different girl and a different hill."
    "I'm hooked on this show, and think it is genius in its simplicity and ever-so-slight sexual nature. It took me a while to explain the charm of the show to the video director, but I think toward the end of making our video together, he got it. It's like many things that happen outside the culture you were born in; you either get it and it's fresh or you don't and it's just weird."

    I don't understand why some people just feel the need to post negative shit. If you don't like the music, that's a matter of taste, search another band and move on. Why start bitching about his looks and the fact that everyone can play what he is playing. Show some respect to someone who has played some big stages, recorded some great albums and is a great guitar player and musician.

    I was worried when I saw the "schoolgirl" fetish and goofy Japanese clothing with super fast shredding getting to Marty, but that solo... PERFECT! I guess I'll be buying this on CD the 27th.
    Update: The whole is amazing! Beautiful, bad-ass and mind-blowing; just what we wanted from Marty! Got it today.

  • @GoatMee
    @GoatMee 10 лет назад +11

    It's scary to think he's really feeling all those odd notes ...
    He has always been somewhere else musically and you can always tell if it's Marty or not, without knowing in advance, because sooner or later there will be a note with a bend that only he would play.

  • @arthurdurham
    @arthurdurham 2 года назад +4

    There are many super fast shredders but few are able to make it sound so melodic like Marty. It doesn't just sound like a bunch of notes but an actual composition.

    • @nomore6167
      @nomore6167 2 года назад

      "It doesn't just sound like a bunch of notes" - It's odd how different people can have such diametric opinions to the same thing. To me, the majority of this song did sound like just a bunch of notes being played fast just for the sake of playing fast. It sounds like something that belongs on an early, pre-Marty Megadeth album (which is not a good thing, in my opinion). This song pales in comparison to anything on Dragon's Kiss, Scenes, Introduction, or True Obsessions.

    He seguido la carrera de Marty casi completa y debo decir que este álbum es de lo mejor que le he escuchado. De seguro es porque soy más afín al metal que a otros géneros, pero sinceramente tiene una variedad de riffs de muy alto nivel creativo aveces con una simpleza impresionante, solos muy virtuosos que incluso a ratos recuerdan lo que hizo con Cacophony, la técnica exquisita que lo hizo conocido en Megadeth y buenos invitados en la voz. Maestro! he escuchado muchas veces el disco en muy poco tiempo.

    • @pilotamurorei
      @pilotamurorei 10 лет назад +3

      ***** That's total bullshit. If you were to watch Japanese tv, it's nothing but AKB48 (and all those underage half-wit "sister" groups like NMB48), Arashi (the new SMAP), and Exile (the wannabe black dancers). Metal is never on tv (babymetal is NOT fucking metal) and normal Japanese people find it to be just noise (sounds like what my grandfather used to say to me). That's not being "open-minded," it's being a TV station that sells out to whatever is popular and ignores everything that doesn't fit with the idea of "ignorance is bliss."
      Just yesterday, a tv commercial was taken off the air for being "too realistic" about the hardships of finding work. Yeah, ignore everything bad and be ignorant to the rest of the world (or even your own goddamn country).

      Dyskit I have lived in Japan almost as long as Marty (and speak Japanese better than Marty btw). Rock Fujiyama was cancelled years ago and it was NOT a nationwide program. Dave is still a good guitar player, don't get me wrong, but Megadeth as a whole is shite. I don't understand how a band can go from So far so good...so what? to Supercollider. I get it, after a while it get rough making a living from/writing new music, but if it's really that much of a problem for Dave then he should just call it quits. Supercollider was an embarrassment, even when compared to Th13teen and Endgame which were still listenable.

    • @91Metalhead
      @91Metalhead 10 лет назад +1

      Courtland Sedlachek If Marty joined Megadeth again and Dave would listen to him ,Megadeth would never grow stale... Marty is too creative to be doing the same thing over and over again for 10 years. Then again, not sure Megadeth would keep being Megadeth :). That being said i like both, but Megadeth arent' what they used to be.

      Exactly! The Friedman-era is the definitive Megadeth lineup. Dave's and Marty's respective styles worked really well with each other musically, Dave's jazzy manic intensity and Marty's finesse and unbridled creativity made Megadeth what it was, and should have always been-a complete assault on the senses.

      Totally dude, I thought that Ron Jarzombek was playing instead of Marty Friedman for a second. The only difference is that the Spastic Ink records have much better production, ideas and performance. That was a real band, this is just Marty showing off over a backing track.

      Marty's is so much better! Broderick isn't even more technically advanced IMO. Marty could easily pull off all of his stuff but I don't think Broderick could play Marty's new stuff

    • @91Metalhead
      @91Metalhead 10 лет назад +43

      Ryan Clayton He is different, but when it comes down to it guitar ability can't be measured in how fast you can play or how many fingers you can tap with. It's all about being unique, doing your own thing and not sounding like everybody else. Broderick is a typical shredder, Marty is way more than a shredder.

    Marty Friedman is the reason I learned to play guitar, yes Megadeth is my favourite band; but Marty isn't in it anymore and I wish people would just shut up comparing him to them or telling him he's gone down since them. He doesn't need a vocalist, he doesn't need Mustaine. Marty practically carried Megadeth to success through the 90's. Martys solo stuff is unique because of his playing style and sound. The raw passion he puts behind his guitar is like no other guitarist I've heard.

    • @Nachtopus
      @Nachtopus 10 лет назад +3

      It's not necessarily the ability to simply play fast alone or by itself that make guitarists like Marty Friedman good players; it's the way that people like him can contrast many different and diverse soloing styles such as fast playing with slower and/or moderate speeds on the guitar as well, as well as seamless transitions between licks or section that, when done well, requires a special kind of gift and ability. Along with that, there include many other different factors apart from just speed or "showing off", such as dynamics - the way different volumes the guitar can be played at, whether louder or softer - and intervals - the way different scale patterns, and/or arpeggios, can be implemented into one's guitar soloing, and, when done right, can be magical if played any other instrument besides just the guitar in general (unless you're the drummer). Oh, and likely one of the most essential skills to implement is, while you're at it, don't forget a touch of emotion.

    • @Nachtopus
      @Nachtopus 10 лет назад +2

      No, scratch that; a *HEAP of emotion.

    Guitar isn’t always about how many notes you can play in ten seconds. Guitarists like Friedman care more about staying in key and executing complex patterns than conveying emotion, which sometimes required technical imperfections. That’s why less technical, more emotional guitarists like Hendrix and David Gilmour have staying power and a lot of pure shredders feel hollow.
    If sweep picking and 32nd-note noodling is your thing, that’s fine. Just don’t act like people who feel happier listening to emotional guitarists like Hendrix are wrong, or that guitarists who don’t shred aren’t good. Talent isn’t all about technical skills. Many technical guitarists have incredible skills and showmanship, but lack the heart & soul that made Hendrix a legend in the first place.
    Hendrix was way ahead of his time, a creative genius in the studio with
    the sounds he could get out of his guitar, and played leads in ways no
    one had heard before him
    ps:i personally knows how shred guitar is and sounds,i was and i am still a guitar shred lover.
