If I remember correctly, there is another version of Kamae Dachi that looks coincidentally similar to English/Irish boxing stance that was typical during the bareknuckle era (before 1900).
Oh yeah I’m sure! This is the modern knockdown kamae dachi but there has been many versions of it. You can even see old masters still doing it, like Okubo Kancho he will have his rear hand a bit lower, his lead arm more extended and be deeper and longer in his stance.
For the stance, I would say almost nothing except for the guard position being a bit higher and with a bit more flaired elbows! If you mean in general, then I would say Shidokan is like an extended version of Kyokushin - it includes grappling, more training with hand strikes to the head, a little bit of newaza, more grappling-based bunkai, katas are a bit closer to okinawan karate, etc! 🥋
It's weird how many dojos don't teach the fundamental fighting stance properly, thanks for uploading!!
Definitely important, everything starts from the stance! Osu :)
Stances lay the groundwork for all techniques. Great video.
Absolutely agree! Thanks a lot 😊🥋
Really insightful and fundamental. Awesome stuff :)
Glad it was helpful!🥋
Thanks

What are the main differences between shidokan and kyokushin? 😃🥋
