In both you paint the base retique it, add a glaze and use the graining tool. The difference is in the glaze. In the weathered, you use a white glaze over. In the "rustic" you use a dark colored glaze.
The Retique It Wood'n Primer and Wood'n Stain that come in the kit actually contain over 60% recycled ♻️ wood, which gives the look and feel of real wood when they dry. The brush and graining tool adds to the texture and gives an overall beautiful beyond Faux wood finish.
they're called a wood grain tool and come in a roller type or the sliding type like she is using as well as in different sizes/widths ." Slide type " which is basically an arched ) piece of rubber with possibly a wavy pattern but typically a half circle pattern that starts small in the center edge with each one getting bigger acroos the tool . This type is best for achieving believable ,real looking wood/grain patterns as you control the texture/grain structure left behind based on how you hold/ tilt the tool one way or another as you drag it across the surface . As for the process apply selected light color, let fully dry, quickly apply selected dark color, while still wet use tool which creates the patterns as it removes parts of dark color from surface. The process is still applied dark over light with the roller grain tool but it's used to apply the dark color rather than remove it . The downside of a roller tool is it applies a consistant repeating pattern killing the realistic effect. Full multi size tool kits can be found on Amazon
