The tl:Dr; is - he basically makes statements that are entirely tone deaf of his father's involvement with The Insurgency of the Seven, and what that means to Edelgard every time he tries to challenge her for the throne.
Basically, that quote sort of heavily fits with Edelgard's description of his house: "That house is a little too proud of their title.".
Hilda can't change house because she is too lazy to do the paperwork .
Unless you're literally any other house, including the other possible route in Black Eagles. Maybe she just thinks Edelgard is least likely to let her slack off?

Should of added the part where Edelgard tells you I’ll tell you more about death knight later and she never did
My biggest question to that was if it was possible to get dark seals now that the DKs are allied with you.
I totally forgot about him and remembered him when it was showing the MVP's of each level. After the credits rolled I had to double checked if they ever confirmed if *that guy* was DK's true identity cause they never gave a solid answer. Just a "It might be *that guy*"

I am only now playing that route, but my guess is that they are backing Edelgard since they're led by her Uncle, so they have no reason to oppose her.
True but (without spoiling anything) the epilogue for Crimson flower said that afterward Edelgard went about dismantling TWSITD, and I honestly don't know why they didn't just do that for the next 3-4 chapters

Because there's zero realistic chance of beating them without the church, and finding themselves written into a corner, they chose to roll credits and pretend it all works out after. Edeltard did everything wrong.

I feel like the extra 3-4 chapters should have been against those who slither in the dark, so you feel satisfied with your rule cause you actually killed off the people that offed your dad.

@@alessandrolin9942 I feel like the only reason that they don't have another 4 chapters to go after "Those who slither" and have some sort of shadow war against them is because otherwise the GD's fight against "Those who slither" would have no reason to exist and their route would be left without a big final boss. The only reason why they go after them in the end is because Hubert leaves a letter saying they should kill them. That's it. I think the only one who has any stakes against them in GD is Lysithea otherwise I don't think any of their live were affected by them whatsoever.
I'm still waiting for her to tell me how our relationship works since I'm her dearest friend who is also her partner apparently

It really did feel like Intelligent Systems kinda cut the entire climax of the Black Eagles' route (the culimination of "Those who Slither in the Dark"), and slapped it onto the end of the Golden Deer's path.
Shambala is also on the Church route. However, Nemesis is a different story, he only revived because he felt the presence of Seiros (or something like that) which cannot happen in BE because you already killed Rhea.

@@Riftrender Actually Dimitri doesn't have eye patch in BE route. It is the only route where what happens to him differs from all other 3 routes.
I think because we choose edelgard and that make her not go mad/crazy so she didn't plan thing to fuk up his life in her route.
Another reason is that rhea make him king right away after edelgard beat her so dimi don't have fuk up life to lose his eye and throne after that.

I love this route to death, but yes this is so true. I'm hoping part of the fourth wave of DLC is an expansion for this route specifically. I want to hunt down TWSITD myself dammit! Just reading about it in an epilogue is incredibly unsatisfying.

And in many of the paired ones in this path it is directly stated that they win ...Even Edelgards solo ending does imply a victory as It is hard to imagine someone like her abdicating the throne before she resolved the conflict with TWSITD as is stated in the general ending.

I'm not certain on this but I'm fairly sure that the story DLC that's listed in the DLC pass is for Edelgard and has to do with fighting "those who slither in the dark"

So... I geuss this is simultaneously the longest and shortest Fire Emblem game in recent memory.
I am so glad that it's not split up into three games like it was in Fates, because then I would be very pissed if I had chosen Black Eagles first.
I mean if we're talking number of chapters Genealogy and maybe Thracia have it beat in the shortness department. And I know for a fact Blazing Sword (Counting Lyn Mode and Gaiden Chapters) and Radiant Dawn are the longer ones.
I really don’t understand all the hate toward the BE. They’re my favorite house and Edelgard is my favorite lord in the game. It’s kind of sad that I ended liking the one everyone hated...
I really liked the Black Eagles and Edelgard, too. Really, I just wanted more.

Tip: You can set Hilda’s support level to A in New Game+ or do anything to peak her support level and still you wont be able to recruit her BUT a month before the time skip she’ll request to join the house.
That's only if your on the Silver Snow route.
(Spoilers kinda related to video) OK when i first played golden deer I got so scared I'd lose when the enemy commander retreated but Claude came in and critted him like a boss I was like 😎

If there was a true sequel to this game, the Golden Deer Route would probably be considered the canonical ending of Three Houses. So you might as well do that one. Then do the rest because the game is $60 and you stopped after the shortest route.

That's interesting to me. I did Blue Lions first and now I don't know if I can ever join Edelgard. She's just such an absurdly ridiculous villain that I can't even see her as a viable choice any more. Crazy how differently the characters are portrayed between paths.
I'm in the same boat but now I kind of want to know what happens in the other route. It felt like they just gave up with the BE route. I have zero closure on flayn and her brother, zero on Sothis (like who the fuck is she?) nothing on those slithery people or the death knight. I have no closure but I can't see myself killing El.
I started out with the BE route and on a whim talked to Edelgard before 2/22 for her to tell me ‘I’m going to Enbarr, wanna come?’ Naturally I was going to say yes regardless, but then I saw the ‘This will change the story drastically are you sure?’ And I got scared tbh. Anyway, I went there and saw her coronation and sided with Edelgard because Rhea and the church already rubbed me the wrong way with Jeralt’s warnings and because of...Rhea being Rhea. (I despise Rhea if you can’t tell)
During part two I genuinely felt sad whenever I saw the students from the other houses. I wanted to avoid them to avoid killing them, it wasn’t their fault they hadn’t known what I knew then. I despised TWSITD (Those Who slither in the dark) nearly as much as Rhea because of them being THAT evil so when I finally got to the end after cleansing Fodlan of Rhea I expected to have a short-lived victory only to have TWSITD backstab us and the war continued only for it to end with me and Edelgard slaughtering her douche uncle. But it didn’t go that way. I was absolutely LIVID, but in this case, if they make a DLC continuing this route I will most definitely buy it to spend more time with my favorite characters. Other than that, I love this game, but I can’t bring myself to side with anyone else ESPECIALLY after romancing Edelgard as my first love interest...
I'd really recommend playing every other route even if you have to kill me, it's okay get the whole experience of the game. I'd like it if there was more content for the CF route but oh well

I get that they wanted to have the big climax boss be [redacted], but they either could have saved that boss for a little later, or have another big boss to fight after those who slither in the dark
Or even just do what GD did, either exactly that boss, or you fight Thales in a similar fashion or something
I agree, and I strongly believe Rhea's route shouldn't even exist it's pretty much GD 2.0 but with a very BS excuse of a final boss. Rhea received the very same damages in GD so it makes no sense! It just feels like it isn't complete, there could definitely be more.

@@trigunfox2325 Well she felt very responsible for what happened to him. She knows who actually planned the massacre, and never tells him who or why, because... well as she said, he is practically inhuman without any physical buffs. Any normal person would have died long ago but he is just a monster. And so she lets him fall into madness (best scene animated, ever, is the BL route where Dimitri and co. find out who the Flame Emperor really is) because she needs him to play his part so she can pretend to play along with her "Uncle."
It isn't a perfect plan on her part, indeed you can smell Hubert's maliciousness mixed in with it, but it fits her all the same. So she feels very guilty at seeing who could have been one of the greatest rulers of all time turn into a raging monster of a tyrant. Dimitri is my favorite character, but it is because of the 3 lords he is the most humane... in a monster-like fascination that can only be achieved by being human. I can go on lmao obviously.
It is hinted that she does remember him giving her that dagger, and pretends to not in order to drag him further into the pit of rage when it is revealed who she really is.

@@milesdavis607 "Play along"? You literally kill Arundel before facing Edelgard in Blue Lions and she still tries to kill him and she doesn't hold on it as SHE is the one who becomes a monster. So "play along" is far from the equation here.

My sister has a theory why black eagles feels incomplete:
As i was browsing some fanarts on pixiv (a japanese art site) i noticed that both the bl and gd gangs clearly have so much more art content than than the beagles gang. When i told my sis this, she pointed out that it might be because japan values feudalism A. WHOLE. DAMN. LOT. Meaning they probs don't agree with edelgard's goal to destroy the corrupted class system SO MUCH that they'd rather draw the other two houses than edelgard's. Ironically tho, they still draw its members either individually or as ships (noticeably hubertxferdinand and edelgardxf!byleth), but not always as a group.
If they added more chapters for the BE route and overall put more effort into making it, it could potentially be such a power move for Japan, a society with old-fashioned mindsets despite its flashy technology, to show us that the corrupted class system (or the reality equivalent of crest discrimination) really sucks and females can be powerful leaders, but noooooooooo, they still had to rush this one since it's probably the one the staff don't agree with the most. It's sad how they even finally thought of an open-minded concept, yet they had to rush it.
This is just a theory, and we may be 100% wrong.

I didn't know that the Black Eagle route was shorter than the other routes, but I didn't regret going with Edelgard. I don't want to play the other routes because I love the Black Eagle Strike Force. I love them so much that I cried when I met them again on my 2nd playthrough. When I found out that I couldn't recruit Hilda, I did the same lol. I hope I get the chance to recruit her post-timeskip; I don't want to hurt her.
So.. You could say the black eagles way solves the problem faster...

It actually makes a bit of sense that the Black Eagles route would be the smallest story. The Empire after the 5 year skip has already weakened Dimitri and Claudes armies, all the player did was just be the straw who broke the camel's back when it came to the defensive lines between the Empire, Alliance, and Kingdom.

@@magiv7573 I think it's more that Verdant Wind puts more focus on fighting TWSITD, as that's the path of the outsiders to the major war.
@@MrAuthor3DS that would be valid if GD had as much foreshadowing and talk of fighting those guys as imperial does, but the most you get is lysithea noting that the imperial army has shady figured. GD fighting them is way more out of left field than if you were to fight them with edel
@@magiv7573 Yeah as much as I love this route, you can tell something is missing. Hopefully the DLC includes an expansion to this route so that it can tie up all the loose ends. I really enjoyed what they have so far, but the ending and even the presentation in some areas (lack of proper cut-scenes) was clearly rushed.
It will be great if the dlc add another 4 chapter for edelgard to fight the WHSITD but gameplay and story wise i kinda understand why the story end there because you lost all "turn back in time" power and the power to hold "op whip sword" so you just normal soilder now.

Might be cool, but Edelgard's route is basically "do what the bad guys want" with only one failed attempt to step out of line. And without spoiling the other routes, BE-El lacks the ability to bring TWSITD down

There should have been more chapters in the Black Eagles route. Because after the Endgame, they started their fight against Those who Slither in the Dark.
I played BE first, and the ending completely took me by surprise. Hubert kept talking about how next we go after Those Who Slither in the Dark. It felt like someone was mentioning fighting them every chapter. I for sure thought that after we took down the church, then we'd have a few more chapters of taking them on, but nope... I think fighting them would have made that route way better
Remember those sweet good old days where people genuinely liked Edelgard before the game..
Also that almost everyone mocked Dimitri because he seemed bland... They couldn't have been more wrong.

You can see the difference between dimitri and edelgard by how they act on their routes when they defeat eachother
I don't mind that Black Eagles only has 18 chapters. Personally, I felt like it ended on a good note, with the climactic confrontation with Rhea, rather than having somewhat tacked-on missions against Those Who Slither In The Dark and a berserk Rhea like Church of Seiros did (in fact, in the month leading up to the latter, everyone acts as though the war's over).
Glad that i'm not the only one but to be fair, it's mostly due to the fact that i felt some of the last missions until the final one in other FE felt forced and boring (especially in Awakening and in the "neutral route" in Fates).

@2:40; To be fair, I understood that so far (Still yet to do complete Golden Deer or even start Blue Lions, but basing most of this off the wiki information) this lack of chapters happens because Edelgard basically goes and cuts the Gordian Knot, whereas everyone else spends their time trying to undo it bit by bit.
Gets me right in the feels when you see Dedue sacrifice himself into a beast in the Dimitri fight :(
He’s my favorite and I wanted to slap his face for being so stupid. I was planning on not killing him but when he sacrificed himself I was like, okay, I guess mercy is pointless. But hearing his voice as he died hurt
Its even more sad if you defeat Dedue before he turns. Then you get dialogue between Dimitri and Dedue after the battle instead of Dimitri and Edelgard.

One : Edelgard doesn't just want to get rid of some nobles, she wants to annihilate the nobility system. She wants to make a world where your standing in society is determined by how good you are at what you do, by how far you are willing to go for the betterment of the people. To make a system where nobility is ... Well. Nobles in their souls, and their actions.
Two : If the position of emperor is gained based on merits, it's gonna be pretty hard to put someone bad on the throne. And the inheritance of the throne is even worse, because the you're sure one of the descendants will have the idea that only he/she matters.
Three : Yes, she allies herself with the Agarthans, because it's what they were expecting her to do. If she wanted to accomplish her goals and have relative autonomy, knowing that her every acts were judged by them, she needed to play the role they wanted her to. They were powerfull, knowledgeable, and intelligent ; perfect allies to conquer the world, and destroy an army with a standing like the Church's. But in the end, her true goal is to dispose of the most dangerous people by stabbing them in the back, as shown in CF ending. They fight a war in the shadows, and the Agarthans die. Then, once Fodlan is reformed like she wanted, she steps down from the role of emperor, or leads Fodlan with the help of her friends, marking their opinions as equal to hers.

Imagine the field trip TWSITD would have had if edelgard system system where in place since the begining of the game( fodland united and no one to challenge the emperor's political power : they would only have to kill and shapeshift as the current emperor to gain control and ruin EVERYONE lives on the whole continent.
Also , given her actions , it's clear as day that edelgard only consider strengh and violence as "merits". her opinion of Miklan , a pillager , rapist and murderer as " a good leader" prove it even more.
Meaning that anyone she choose to be her replacement will lack the basic respect for the lives and opinion of other and will just impose it's visoin by force , killing anyone who disagree , just like she did .

The fact we didn’t get to see Edelgard kill her uncle/Lord Arundel/Thales kills me inside. That man caused so much pain and grief for Edelgard and Dimitri, AND YOU ONLY GET TO FIGHT HIM AS CLAUDE, LIKE SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FUCK ITS SO FRUSTRATING I FEEL RIPPED OFF!!!
Still love this game, after beating every playthrough but snow somethin or another, I can say Black Eagles is my favorite cuz fuck the church 👍.

I felt that Hilda one. Hilda was favorite character(besides Claude) when I played Golden Deer and the fact you can't recruit her to Black Eagles made me sad.
There is such little information about recruiting Hilda online. All the different internet guides say different thing and some of the info they provide is inaccurate. All I know is that I never managed to recruit her.
That Hilda shit was scarily similar to what I experienced

The whole TTSITD thing never really hit me until I read the comments. See this was my first route.
By the time I got to Golden Deers in the timeskip I was like "Wait, there's more than 18 chapters?!"
Having done 2 routes before that one (I really wanted to do this one 1st playthrough, but I missed a key event), I have to say I appreciate the lower chapter count. It's nice that they cut the filler of the other routes, which helps make for a fast and intense playthrough (seriously even with NG+ perks, I had to rely on Vantage + Wrath Bernadetta to land her attacks, which means she's on the verge of death at all times). Helps that if you don't use Raging Storm on Wyvern Lord El, most of the maps actually do something to avoid being easily beaten in 1-3 turns.
Also good video.
But as someone who did BE route first, you can imagine feeling cheated that theres less overall content in this route than all the others, even if you would describe it as filler. They could've easily put battles with Those Who Slither in the Dark before or after the final battle, bit they chose to keep Crimson Flower shorter.
I'm disappointed, as this is my favorite route, and El is my favorite leader, I'd like to see more.
At the end of the video should Byleth's hair still be teal? I thought it reverted after killing Rhea.

It was my least favorite route because there was no real reasoning behind anything she was doing or the people she was allied with and then it was cut so short that I thought I'd done something wrong.

@@Yugi6020 Her reasoning made absolutely no sense, though. The Church clearly did not do any of the stuff she accused it of (nor does she have any proof at all that they did). She wants to rid of the world of nobility because a few of them didn't come to help her and her siblings instead of using her position and stripping those families of power. She never attempts diplomacy despite being the heir then ruler of the largest country in Fodlan. She claims that she would've allowed Dimitri to surrender, but her assassination attempt in the prologue proves that she's either lying or delusional...she and Hubert even comment when she's on his doorstep that he's thrown 'honor out the window' even though she had no issue trying to kill him and Claude in secret. She even teams up with the group that did all of the terible things to her in the first place. It's genuinely hard to play that route and not think of her as a giant hypocrite. For me it is the absolute worst written route of the four. It also didn't help that they completely skimped on the animation for Byleth's fall down a cliff (leaving anyone who played it first completely confused as to what just happened) and then didn't even bother to have to actually get rid of TWSITD, cutting her route 4 chapters short.
@@sj4iy It's true in regards about the TWSITD and the chapters being cut short. While I've no idea why that's the said case, only speculation awaits. In regards to said scene about the assassination attempt though, it may feel hypocritical to you but it makes sense for what she was trying to achieve. Edelgard wanted to unify Fodlan and rid the world of crest without interference and to do that she was willing to be a tyrant. Thus her plan at the beginning to secretly assassinate Claude and Dimitri and even going as far as to form an alliance with TWSITD despite her hate for them out of convenience where both of them make a pawn of each other for their own best benefit in mind and dispose of each other when such said convenience wears out (U can easily reference to this throughout Black Eagle route where there were many hints of Edelgard and Hubert planning on disposing TWSITD). Edelgard not resorting to diplomacy to begin with can be referenced back to the event that took place when she was young with what happened to her, her siblings and her father. In fact the song "Edge of dawn", also known as "Maiden of Hresvelg" was a song referenced and sung by Edelgard. It was basically due to the dark event that transpired when she was young that she had trust issues and that u can look up on analysis on the song for. This was what led to the view that Edelgard holds on the crest due to the inhumane nature that took place. Edelgard started her journey of throwing her innocence away by hiding behind the mask where she'd rule as a tyrant because she knew that her weak self wouldn't be able to change anything in the world. Her attempt for change was further backed up by support conversation between some of the other characters like Edelgard/Lysithea and Edelgard/Hanneman where both of those two characters underwent through similar experiences (In Hanneman's case, it was his sister). In my opinion it made perfect sense why she did what she had to but it definitely isn't something I'd agree to with her method. Why? Because she knows the path that she was going to walk on was going to lead to her own demise and how everyone will treat and see her but despite that, she resolved to go through with it till the end, even if it meant the sacrifice of innocent lives for a better future or her own downfall for that matter. She was so stubborn and persistent with her own belief and values that she'd not resort living in any other way (By this I meant the event that took place when Dimitri spares Edelgard and how she'd rather die by attempting to backstab him than rather live in the current world where she fails to achieve her ideal world). I personally respect her as a character but definitely not the method I'd agree with doing it.

The thing about Hilda though is that you cannot do anything with her but share meals/ choir practice until chapter 12 if you sided with Rhea (you can’t even give her any lost times).
Worst thing about Edelgard route is that Gatekeeper leaves, and got replaced by his twin brother (?).

I feel that probably the original plan was to have 4 chapters around the evil uncle and his demons buddies but maybe was cut out for time or is going to be the DLC. I mean... I don't know yet for the other Arcs but in black eagles i feel like that part was left out without reason
It's probably because the Black Eagles don't fight the actual bad guys in their route, you know because they allied themselves with them. The route is implied to the bad route of all four because you never deal with them. And so it is the shortest.
Black Eagles route is the best route, its split into two routes, the church/Rhea's route or the empire/Edelgard's route, Black Eagles is the number one house
I wouldn't be surprised if the story DLC coming up is going to give us more chapters to this route. It feels like something's missing on purpose.
One of the biggest reasons crimson flower is shorter is that it was not originally going to be a thing, If you did black eagles, you did church route.

I dont get it. I played all three routes, yet I still love Edelgard above Claude and Dimitri. Why is she hated so much? She reminds me a lot like rudolf from Echoes but more tragic.
I see that many people complain on how her route is very brutal compared to the others, but I don’t think that’s a good reason to hate her. Keep in mind, she’s the one who started the war and wants to win through conquest. Conquest=Death. I know that may sound a bit harsh, but it’s true and very sad. I also see people complain on how we kill students from other houses, but that happens in every single route. At the end of the day, I’m still a Golden Deer, but I will defend Edelgard because I believe all three lords have unique ways of trying to fix Fodlan and the world

A. It was a random chance between Edelgard and Claude
B. Rhea is gross and weird
I don't regret it at all. The Black Eagle students have the best chemistry with each other by far, and Edelgard is genuinely wonderful.
I've been going through Golden Deer, and while I like the characters, they just don't have nearly as strong of a chemistry with each other, and Claude doesn't really feel like an actual friend like Edelgard did. Also I don't get to murder that lizard with a god complex and destroy the church, which is another L.
