  • How to change a Sevel range (Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relay) steering wheel with an airbag. This is done on a 2014 Fiat Ducato but I guess all the ones with the pointy headlights will be the same. Remember to disconnect all batteries before starting, you can't be too careful with airbags.

That’s brilliant because I need to replace the controls on my Peugeot Boxer due to the telephone button being broken! I’ve just picked the van so when I have the controls I will be tackling it 👌🏻

Thanks, this will be very useful as my horn switch is not working so will need to remove steering wheel to investigate.

Very useful - thanks - I'll be doing exactly that for exactly the same reason shortly.

Very useful, thanks for sharing. I am also in the process of changing the steering wheel on a Ducato to add the the multifunction. I'm not sure what the two spare pins are on the steering column, but I suspect it's for a vehicle which does not have a harness for the multifunction wheel. The connector to the wheel is 8 pins (still trying to figure out the connector make/type, some kind of 2.5 or 2.54mm pitch with a latch), 2 pins for power to the button LED backlights (pins 3,5), a common GND for the button(pin 7), and 2 pins for the left button array and right button array (1,2). Ohter pins are N/C. The button array signal isn't digital, it's just different resistor values for each button (supported by many aftermarket head units). I'd be interested in knowing if you managed to connect the multifunction buttons and how you managed to route the additional cables down the steering column.

Hi, well it is much more simple. I see you have tried to lever the spring open. But you must turn.
What it needs it a flat blade just fitting in the whole in the back of the steering.. You feel when the blade slips into or between the springs. Then gently turn by 90 degrees. It seems the AB is pulled in for a moment because of the nose shape but then it jumps out the nose. Do it the same with all 3. It does not need any force.
I used a hexagon bit ca. 70mm long with flat blade. Blade as wide as the diameter of the hexagon. A small ratched to trun. No need to bend anything. If the levers of light, wiper or tempomat come in your way there is enough movement in the tire and steering to move out of their way left or right. Theft lock may activate but easy to llose with the key.

Thanks Kurt. I found that one of the springs, the one at the bottom of the wheel had more tension than the others, because it is shorter therefore you have less leverage.
My next problem is how do I wire up the steering wheel remote controls to a radio? Do you know? any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the video, have you found the cable? Is it working? Do you had to activate any option in the ECU through OBD?
    I'm in the same situation.

I'm considering doing this to my motorhome but do you have the relevant part numbers for the replacement multifunctional steering wheel?

Did you get the controls to work? I've only been looking for a short time but it looks like it also needs the squib/slip ring assembly.
