1000 guests just nice, but 500 also ok. The culture here wedding about families matters. Beside close friends, the guests actually from fathers side, mothers side for both, including kids and all.. so 1000 just nice...

In the old days, the guests will be almost everybody in the kampung. That's a lot of people. If you served nasi putih (with all the lauk), there's a big probability that you'll end up short... not enough to go by for everyone. The trick is to serve nasi minyak which means you cook the rice in some kind of oil, normally the beef fat (minyak sapi). The oily rice will make you full (muak) quite fast. So your serving will be halved of nasi putih. 😁😆😂😂

my mom said we invite many people because of sedekah. Treating people with food is sedekah. So,when you invite more people, it's better. So I just follow (of course la the bride wants to spend more to look cantik2 etc) but I understand my mom concept and I'm okay with it! In fact I cherish the moment.❤️

I'm a Buginese and in my hometown, we usually serve kuih & desserts to the guests first before giving the heavy rice & dish meal.
I don't know the reason why but I think maybe the desserts serve as an appetizer.
I truly love this episode. Blimey is really good like we will never have this kind of peace and fun talk show ever by our tv show but thankyou so much Blimey for doing so much for this industry. We love them. Please do more. I'd rather watch this youtube show on tv than watch malay talk show, nonsense most of time.

In Malaysia youre expected to invite your entire neighbourhood/village, your relatives family, friends family, collegues family, parents friend family, parents collegues family, siblings friend family. End up 90% of the people coming is somebody you didnt know 😂😂😂 I rather have a small wedding like 200-400 guest of my family, close relative, close friend, and collegues.

Yess. Especially at kampung (village), minimum is like 3000 (sometimes 5000-7000 people) invitation because mostly comes from big family which siblings of like 8-12, moreover siblings of mother and father and siblings of grandmother and grandfather and each small family of them plus friend of parent and bride and groom hahaha so just imagine how many is the invitation. My mother in law even invites people from morning market she uses to go and shockingly they really come! Haha. Sometimes our friend even attend in both sides of kenduri. Yes, there's kenduri kahwin in both sides. So in Malaysia, theres typical 4-5 kenduri. Normally 1st engagement, 2nd during akad nikah. 3rd wedding for groom side. 4th wedding for bride side. Tiring jugak laaa hahahaa.
Masa kenduri kahwin saya sebelah suami dulu jemputan 3000 orang.. Tetamu yang hadir lebih 6000 orang.. Majlis x gah, pelamin pun buat sendiri tapi makanan sangat2 banyak.. Keluarga suami hanya nak meraikan keluarga, orang kampung dengan sahabat handai.. Meriah sangat2 sampai malam tetamu dari jauh masih datang..🥰

Nasi Minyak only common in Peninsular Malaysia. In East Malaysia, Nasi Minyak are not common. We use traditional dish/state Dish , which is more convenient, simple, and delicious, our Nasi just use plain rice.
our wedding guest are different, i don't think its 1000 people are so common. it depends on family. 150-200 guest is minimum.

I got married on November 2021 when the SOP required us to only have 50% guest of the avenue capacity. So my guests is only 250 consisting of only family and very close friends. Most people understand if they are not invited due to the SOP. As for colleagues in the office, I bought 1 pax of nasi minyak for everyone. Its a blessing in disguise as you can save a lot of money

nasi minyak question won't work in pahang especially kuantan, because we eat it as breakfast everyday... so when someone ask you this, you can just say you will treat them next morning. nasi minyak hard to find in west side like selangor... missing my nasi minyak ㅠㅠ

1000 is not small wedding its quite big n usually shared between both bride & groom side.
The standard is 800 and anything below 500 considered as small.
Even 500 is fair enough especially for groom side

I got married the week right before PKP 1😂 small ceremony with close family members and friends only. It is even on Friday😅😅 everybody is rushing to end ceremony because men need to go for Solat Jumaat. In the evening, we just relaxing and chatting and gossiping. And planning for future Jemputan Kahwin (The real big wedding day).
Then, PKPs came and go. All plans got scrapped🤣🤣Until now.

Zaman dahulu nasi minyak dikira makanan yang special dan jarang dihidang di hari2 biasa, hanya dijumpai atau dimasak semasa wedding event shj. Dahulu belum ada jenis2 nasi perkahwinan lain spt nasi hujan panas dan nasi biryani. Yang org biasa buat adalah nasi myk shj. Jadi istilah' mkn nasi myk' tu berasal dr istilah atau kebiasaan org dahulu, dibwk smpi ke hari ini.
Wpun skrg dah ada nasi yg mcm2 tp istilah tsb masih digunakan smpi skrg.
