I've noticed that Jermaine Dupree always had Kandi singing on both Hummin' Com'n At Ya and Of The Hook and than Tocha started singing on the third album.
Right! I’m so tired of them criticizing dark skin women, like let them live!when a light skin be ratchet or overly sexy nobody says nothing! It’s the colorism for me!

Whoever put the Soul Train Awards together this year deserves a raise. Chante Moore tore the entire house down. I also loved Q and didn’t know who he was before the show either. Everyone sounded amazing for the most part.
Here’s my thing with latocha. You had TWO DECADES to go solo after xscape broke up and wasn’t able to do it because truth be told nobody was checking for a solo album. She was lucky that Kandi and Tiny agreed to come back to the group being that she hasn’t worked in years. I think her sister understands the bag on the table and appreciates that her group is finally receiving their recognition.

I have all 8 of her albums and most of them are great. I also think she’s an independent artist. But I agree… such a beautiful talent should be mainstream.

Latocha didn't have a successful solo career before Xscape got back together. She had years to go solo. She is using the group to big up her name so she can once again attempt to go solo. Her husband always seems to be in the middle of the ladies issues, he's definitely a problem.
This is exactly why people have stopped claiming they're Christians. People are cruel and extra harsh, which isn't fair. Look at how folks treat Chloe, China McClain, Meghan Goode. We are all sinners sometimes and the whole "holier than thou" act has got to stop cause it turns people away.

Ok, let’s be honest there’s no market for EITHER OF THEM to go solo. Latocha has already tried this and it went nowhere BUT maybe Gospel is a lane she can probably see success in, idk 🤷🏽♂️ but when it comes to R&B people don’t wanna see Xscape without ALL FOUR and that’s just been proven time and time again. Side note: in my opinion, Tameka Scott is actually the better singer in the group. She places her runs where they need to be and she EXECUTES them and she has just as much range as Latocha.

While Tamika on the other hand has a beautiful, rich tone, amazing range, power & she INTELLIGENTLY places her riffs & runs here & there, subtlety where they can be truly appreciated bcuz ur not being tf drowned & beat to death by them. All singers KNOW this, while ur average, everyday, general music lover doesn't know any better & thinks this is "singing down", but it actually is NOT. If we think of our CLASSIC GREATS, a la Whitney, Chaka, Aretha, you NEVER hear them overdoing their runs, Chaka's runs for example are so swiftly done, the avenue Joe Schmoe will miss them every damn time, but they're intelligently placed where they're most appreciated & show thee extent of her vocal mastery.
Chanté may not have had the same mainstream success as the other singers, but she definitely is recognized as one of the best singers, ever. Especially everything she did in the early 90’s and with Keith Washington. 🥰

Chanté Moore was the best performance and the highlight of the Soul Train Awards. When she hits that whistle note OMG! I was so happy that is she is final getting the recognition that she deserves. As for Xscape This isn't the first time that LaTocha has done this to the Tiny, Kandi & Tameka, she did this back in 1998 while they were on tour promoting Traces of My Lipstick Album she left in the middle of the tour to go solo back then.
Honey, I grew up on Xscape and LaTocha has had the same argument since the 90s. It's discussed in their UNSUNG episode, it played out on their first reality show, and here we are now still with the same narrative. No one ever stopped her from going solo and to be frank, Kandi's solo career didn't jump off either. Kandi and Tini made their money behind the scenes writing for other Artists which is where the money is made. The bottom line is if no one is checking for you, people aren't going to buy your product. She needs to have that energy for her Husbanger b/c he hasn't been doing jack for her. LaTocha, I'm speaking directly to you! Change your attitude, change the people you surround yourself with (e.g., firing your husband), and you'll go far.
It’s just annoying that latocha had all this time to go solo, but only wants to do so after they’ve been thrusted back into the spotlight. And let’s be honest, kandi and tiny have mad connections in the industry and that no doubt has helped xscape gain some traction. So it’s like she used kandi and Tinys star power to get on.

I think it's kind of messed up that when Kandi didn't want to be all in when they initially got back together and she told them the can do a trio when she isn't able to make it... They weren't going for it and wanted Kandi to full commit. Now the tables have turned... Kandi is fully committed and no Latocha is trying to be a solo artist again... Chile a mess! She didn't make fetch happen back in the 90s it certainly won't be a thing in 2023.🤷🏾♀️

She did reach out for clarification for the dress code. The stylists probably wrote back to the other members managers and ask if it was ok to inform her. And they probably all didn’t really want to tell her. You can tell there is animosity on both ends. The miscommunication is not one sided.

Latocha is a great vocalist don’t get me wrong but honestly her sister Tamika is the most consistent out of the four. She has the range, control, and never tries to outdo anyone which makes her the best vocalist in the group imo.

Latocha went solo years ago and it didn’t work out to well. Same with Kandi. They just really need to accept that they work best musically TOGETHER. Like Donjuan said they are magical on stage and off it’s a disaster. I would love for them to settle the differences again and put out new music. Kandi & Tiny are great writers so it should do well.

Chanté Moore is CRIMINALLY underrated. Latocha is always the problem. She was the issue during Xscape’s first run, she was the issue when they tried to reunite (with Kandi’s replacement) back in 2005, and she’s the issue now. Her and that damn husband of hers. The fact that Tamika isn’t backing Latocha this time is VERY telling… Btw… Tamika Scott is the vocal superior of the group. Don’t be fooled by the fact that she has the least “solo spots”. Tamika is a beast.
What’s wrong with being that girl who sings in Xscape? It’s the reason her career has been revived. LaTocha the grass is not always greener on the other side. That's a great point and one of my issues with Beyonce. Soul train was started because we had no award shows for us. All the greats attended Soul Train Awards. It's awful that she will show up for other platforms but not this one

Tocha lacks control and yes, it gets VERY sloppy. In the 90s it wasn’t a big deal but 30 years later it’s an interesting question to why she still hasn’t sharpened up her instrument. I prefer Tameka’s singing, hell even Tiny’s.

Chante Moore was the highlight of the night. I’ve never heard of her until the Soul Train Awards. She sang, she grooved, and totally commanded that stage. Very beautiful. Such an excellent performance, my soul was snatched.
I actually met latocha back in 2017 I was working at office depot in McDonough, GA! I loved her spirit and she was really sweet. She gave me a autograph.. That was a good day! 😍❤😂😂
I agree regarding Chante. I love her! I think she could've been on Toni's level. I don't know about Mariah. People tend to forget Mariah Carey is a hit songwriter. She wrote Vision of Love when she was like 18 or something. Her demo had like two hits records already. It would've been hard for Chante in a way because Whitney had first refusal for any song she wanted. Although she didn't write, Whitney was the voice so every hit song was coming to her first. Toni is a hit writer and also had Babyface. Since she was a LaFace artist Toni was getting all of the hits. Mariah didn't need anyone between her vc and pen which is why she really didn't begin co-writing until like her six album I think, and even then it's not much. I think Chante's problem was always the lack of hits. She didn't have the material. Chante is incredible though. She is a vocal beast! She deserves all of her flowers.

Chante’s performance was everything! I definitely agree with your point that she had potential to be wayyy bigger than she is. I think her problem was a lack of access to hit records. For example Whitney always had the best records sent her way, Mariah’s LEGENDARY pen game made her catalogue the gift that kept on giving, and unfortunately colorism/anti-blackness in the industry and label power meant that below average artists like J-Lo were able to be prioritised over talent. It’s very unfortunate but I’m glad to see her doing well!
Whitney grew up in show biz with A-listers and all of their connections. Mariah married Tommy Matola, the king at the time, and had to rebuild from there (at the top.) JLo slept around, a lot, including seducing Diddy 🤮 to start at the TOP of the music game. Chanté is very Jesus centered. She won't sell her soul (or other body parts) to play their games. And weee know how much you need to worship the d3vil and compromise your integrity in that music industry. She is never going to get access to hit records (unless she writes them) and they won't get the attention they deserve bc she won't play their dirty games.
Chante SANG down I was here for it!! She killed it. Xscape is still my all time favorite girl group and I enjoyed the performance even with the shaky start. I think that the groups need to understand that most of them are better together. Their harmonies are amazing. Tocha girl you are bomb, but can you meet them halfway. If all of your group members are upset let's find a common ground. Coco I feel like her voice is original. She gives me all of the 90s vibes with a current edge. ICU is definitely on repeat for me too.
I feel like Xscape was meant to be together and they could've gone further than they did if they would have stayed together as a group. I don't think any of them were meant to be solo and they definitely could have put out way more albums. Not all singing groups have to have a breakout star in my opinion. I think they would succeed long-term if they all would just stay together!

@@flyleelee5351 Yes! In my opinion that “Secrets” Album would not be what it was without Chante Moore, Toni even took Chante out on tour during that album to recreate the exact background vocals. Their voices blended perfectly and Babyface was a genius and used Chante on “Waiting to Exhale” backing Whitney.
On Unsung, the Xscape episode revealed a LOT of fuckery. At that point Kandi hadn’t spoken to the Scott’s in 12-13 years. Tasha and Kandi do not like each other, and it’s been that way since they were teenagers. I think they had a fist fight too. They need to just all go their separate ways already.
I think you aced this whole video but I really think you did phenomenal with giving your opinion on the Xscape story. I agree with you 100% about Tocha. She definitely deserves to be able to branch out and without backlash. There truly will never be a great time for her to do it, especially now that Xscape is back performing and what not. I truly hope they let her shine and stand behind her. It will be hard but with their support I am sure she will try her hardest to help with the group as well.
When Latocha sings, she should ALWAYS sing her best whether with Xscape or solo💯. I’ve said this so many times with xscape the problem as a fan looking in is not that she wanted to go solo, it was the way in which she went about it. She should have had a meeting with the girls worked out a timeline so nothing was a “rumor” or felt like things was happening behind their backs
Now empressive girl I love you, but the last segments about xscape I have to disagree with you. When they were working on the third album. Latocha already had a solo deal before they started recording the third album and she told all the other girls they can do whatever they’re doing because she’s going solo. Also at that time her husband was their manager so he was already pushing her to the forefront, and making it seem like she was the star. When in all actuality, there is no xscape without all of them. Some people aren’t meant to go solo. We didn’t want a solo album from her then and we don’t want one now

Here’s my thing with latocha. You had TWO DECADES to go solo after xscape broke up and wasn’t able to do it because truth be told nobody was checking for a solo album. She was lucky that Kandi and Tiny agreed to come back to the group being that she hasn’t worked in years. I think her sister understands the bag on the table and appreciates that her group is finally receiving their recognition.

It's discussed in their UNSUNG episode, it played out on their first reality show, and here we are now still with the same narrative. No one ever stopped her from going solo and to be frank, Kandi's solo career didn't jump off either. Kandi and Tini made their money behind the scenes writing for other Artists which is where the money is made. The bottom line is if no one is checking for you, people aren't going to buy your product. She needs to have that energy for her Husbanger b/c he hasn't been doing jack for her.

That's a great point and one of my issues with Beyonce. Soul train was started because we had no award shows for us. All the greats attended Soul Train Awards. It's awful that she will show up for other platforms but not this one

I can't seem to understand how ppl keep saying she's the best singer in the group when her sister is equally if not better than her.
Tocha has a very unique voice her sisters voice is stellar but quite common.
Tocha lacks control and yes, it gets VERY sloppy. In the 90s it wasn’t a big deal but 30 years later it’s an interesting question to why she still hasn’t sharpened up her instrument. I prefer Tameka’s singing, hell even Tiny’s.
Becuase she IS the best singer in the group. It’s clear as day. The strongest vocally. That’s why she is the Lead

I agree regarding Chante. I love her! I think she could've been on Toni's level. I don't know about Mariah. People tend to forget Mariah Carey is a hit songwriter. She wrote Vision of Love when she was like 18 or something. Her demo had like two hits records already. It would've been hard for Chante in a way because Whitney had first refusal for any song she wanted. Although she didn't write, Whitney was the voice so every hit song was coming to her first. Toni is a hit writer and also had Babyface. Since she was a LaFace artist Toni was getting all of the hits. Mariah didn't need anyone between her vc and pen which is why she really didn't begin co-writing until like her six album I think, and even then it's not much. I think Chante's problem was always the lack of hits. She didn't have the material. Chante is incredible though. She is a vocal beast! She deserves all of her flowers.

Chante’s performance was everything! I definitely agree with your point that she had potential to be wayyy bigger than she is. I think her problem was a lack of access to hit records. For example Whitney always had the best records sent her way, Mariah’s LEGENDARY pen game made her catalogue the gift that kept on giving, and unfortunately colorism/anti-blackness in the industry and label power meant that below average artists like J-Lo were able to be prioritised over talent. It’s very unfortunate but I’m glad to see her doing well!

Whitney grew up in show biz with A-listers and all of their connections. Mariah married Tommy Matola, the king at the time, and had to rebuild from there (at the top.) JLo slept around, a lot, including seducing Diddy 🤮 to start at the TOP of the music game.

Chante SANG down I was here for it!! She killed it. Xscape is still my all time favorite girl group and I enjoyed the performance even with the shaky start. I think that the groups need to understand that most of them are better together. Their harmonies are amazing. Tocha girl you are bomb, but can you meet them halfway. If all of your group members are upset let's find a common ground.
Coco I feel like her voice is original. She gives me all of the 90s vibes with a current edge. ICU is definitely on repeat for me too.
I feel like Xscape was meant to be together and they could've gone further than they did if they would have stayed together as a group. I don't think any of them were meant to be solo and they definitely could have put out way more albums. Not all singing groups have to have a breakout star in my opinion. I think they would succeed long-term if they all would just stay together!
Yes, agree, Xscape seemed like a close knit R&B singing group. They sound so powerful together, I can understand why LaTocha wants a solo career. Kandi made a few songs on her own.

@@flyleelee5351 Yes! In my opinion that “Secrets” Album would not be what it was without Chante Moore, Toni even took Chante out on tour during that album to recreate the exact background vocals. Their voices blended perfectly and Babyface was a genius and used Chante on “Waiting to Exhale” backing Whitney.

On Unsung, the Xscape episode revealed a LOT of fuckery. At that point Kandi hadn’t spoken to the Scott’s in 12-13 years. Tasha and Kandi do not like each other, and it’s been that way since they were teenagers. I think they had a fist fight too.

I think you aced this whole video but I really think you did phenomenal with giving your opinion on the Xscape story. I agree with you 100% about Tocha. She definitely deserves to be able to branch out and without backlash. There truly will never be a great time for her to do it, especially now that Xscape is back performing and what not. I truly hope they let her shine and stand behind her. It will be hard but with their support I am sure she will try her hardest to help with the group as well.

She is gifted with a beautiful voice and her group members should NEVER tell her to not outshine them, just like she never tell telling them to not outshine her💯. I’ve said this so many times with xscape the problem as a fan looking in is not that she wanted to go solo, it was the way in which she went about it. She should have had a meeting with the girls worked out a timeline so nothing was a “rumor” or felt like things was happening behind their backs
Now empressive girl I love you, but the last segments about xscape I have to disagree with you. When they were working on the third album. Latocha already had a solo deal before they started recording the third album and she told all the other girls they can do whatever they’re doing because she’s going solo. Also at that time her husband was their manager so he was already pushing her to the forefront, and making it seem like she was the star. When in all actuality, there is no xscape without all of them. Some people aren’t meant to go solo. We didn’t want a solo album from her then and we don’t want one now
