    Honda Should really partner with some audio brands.

      I agree. That’s the only con of a Honda. Other than that, Honda’s are great cars. Surprised they didn’t partner with ELS like Acura does

    The sole reason I’m not buying the Accord is because of Honda’s blatant disregard for audio systems in their cars! At least partner with JBL just like Toyota does for the fully loaded models! I really hate Honda’s policy on this! A good audio system is a must in modern cars!

    • @LABlonkent
      @LABlonkent 5 лет назад +2

      150% Agree. I am also not buying one because of this reason. I work as an audio professional in studios and the system sounds terrible. Extremely thin, with 0 bottom to lower mids (60Hz-500Hz). Midrange is harsh and everything rattles when turned up slightly. I don't feel like I should be replacing the system on a touring model immediately following a purchase. Sorry Honda. You need to fix this issue. Side note - I remember having a 2009 Acura MDX with the ELS Surround that sounded crazy good. (also the standard bmw system is pretty punchy in the bottom end) Side note #2 - keep in mind, it's how the car is also insulated and built :)

      My 2005 Acura TL sounds good to me like there’s enough bass and not too much treble but a car like this new accord should sound much better

    I am SOOO disappointed with the sound system in the 2018 Accord. I just bought a top of the line Touring yet the sound system sounds worse than the one in my base Altima from 7 years ago. Almost ALL carmakers have partnered with known audio brands (Bose, JBL, Harman Kardon etc) yet Honda refuses to do this, even on the top of the line model. The sound quality is gutless and leaves more to be desired. I assumed it would be good when I test drove it and didn't bother cranking it, BIG MISTAKE. Seriously rethinking my purchase right now... I'm absolutely shocked no car reviewers have pointed this out yet.

      I discovered this very unfortunate realization this afternoon as well and was def a big bummer as I had basically spontaneously jumped the gun and bought an 18 Accord sport 2.0t auto. Was having such a blast driving around etc that once I got my s8+ Galaxy hooked up and Spotify going I was thinking wow that's one awfully flat stock tune with too much bass or possibly a woofer that's just underpowered and muffly sounding. Then played with EQ for some time and improved some but pretty sad when the 17 Toyota Corolla rental from Enterprise I've been in for a week now blows it away and even more so that my 2010 ford fusion sel blew both away as if it had been a full custom system and was simply stock and from 2010...very surprising and very disappointing to me as it probably wouldn't have swayed my purchase due to the great deal I was offered equally for either the manual 2.0t or auto 2.0t sport I test drove at 27k brand new. So guess with the savings I'll be buying a system I'm thinking/hoping a nice pair of 6.5 components up front with a nice pair of 6×9s in rear (if possible) and habe a nice Alpine 4 channel amp pushing that set up and if I feel could use a touch more base once that's done then I may add a high end 10" sub in nice box and have it powered by something like 800 to 1000 watt RMS* amp which would prob be a 1500 to 2000 watt advertised rating amp but of course I only pay attention to rms wattage as that's what one will truly be running. Idk any ideas or plans anyone else in same boat have already and would like to share? I'd love to hear and be schooled on the subject as it's been many years since I've messed with any kind of audio equipment, especially car audio so have a lot of learning and or catching up to do.
      Also have a ? Will I still be able to run and use the stock nav screen to control music and everything else like its currently set up to do with new speaker setup with powered amplifiers to door speakers and sub or would that have to be changed as well? I wouldn't think it would have to be messed with other than tying new sound into it and out with the old wires connecting these God awful factory speakers. My 15$ highly portable carry around JAM Bluetooth speakers are better sounding than what's in the car and that's really a good comparison to show just how cheap they went here.
      Looooove the car and everything else about it so far though and is a blast to drive, ordering hondata flash tune in about week already want that extra oomph it apparently provides for such a simple plug and play tune tool, along with 91+ octane gas which luckily 93 is available anywhere and everywhere around my city and 91 is mid grade with 89 being regular (I'm sure this is same case for most people though so don't know why I even mentioned it)

      I'm hoping this vehicle just stays reliable and keeps it's nice sporty yet very comfortable and confidence inspiring ride for years to come as I was really planning all week to buy the Kia stinger base 2.0t today which was absolutely gorgeous and fantastic car and came with better warranty and now I can add much better stock sound system as well to that list. I wonder if it's not too late to turn back and return my Accord for the stinger..I will certainly look into it tomorrow as I was being offered a hell of a nice deal on it too at 30k exactly with 22 miles on it which is actually under MSRP so idk. Really enjoy my Accord almost equally honestly though just gotta get this non existent speaker system replaced asap and until then it'll be talk radio on, or my portable yet still massive big blue party Bluetooth speaker to play music in the car or plug in my headphones.
      The rwd would've sure been another nice feature to have had if I had gone stinger as well but not a huge deal at this price point and class of 4 door sedans were basically talking, although quite good looking and sporty sedans I should add

      Chris Ammons First of all, welcome to the club and congrats on your new 2018 Accord! Just as you, myself, and many others have discovered....the audio system SUCKS. Doesn’t take away from this being Honda’s best car they ever made, however the audio is just plain unacceptable. I expect them to address it during the mid cycle refresh (hopefully). First step I would suggest for you to do is join the official Accord X forum www.accordxclub.com. There you can ask all kinds of questions and the community is VERY responsive and helpful. I’ve learned a LOT more about this car from simply observing the forum. I don’t think you went wrong by choosing the Accord over the Stinger, both are great cars. The Stinger is faster and more sporty but the Accord will hold its value better over the long run, however if you’re leasing, depreciation doesn’t matter. The audio system in the Accord CAN be upgraded while keeping the factory head unit. Check out what other owners did here www.accordxclub.com/forum/26-electronics-audio-lighting/844-stereo-sub-models-terrible.html . Either way congrats, and best of luck to you my friend.

    i bought the 2018 2.0 Touring last year. I love the car. It actually got wrecked and I just purchased the 2019 2.o Touring yesterday. Great car, but as others have noted the sound system is quite disappointing. It isn't completely useless, but my previous car (Acura TL) had less watts but was much guts

    Thank you for giving us an insight to the speakers; which is one of the major concerns regarding the 9th gen.
    Sounds like Honda heard us (9th gen owners and/or prospective owners) complaining about the speakers and they did something about it. Planning to test it in person once I get time and hopefully get a comparison between 9th gen and the 10th at the dealers.

    It's hard to tell from the video. I do have to say that in have had killer systems in my other cars but when I purchased my Genesis with the Lexicon 17 speaker system it's hands down THE BEST stock audio system I've ever heard. It actually sounds like an after market system. It's so clear you can hear the artists breathe in before they sing.

    There's a tweeter and a full-range in the front doors, and a sub, two mid-ranges, and two tweeters on the rear deck.
    The bass goes down really low thanks to a dedicated sub and sounds great with no distortion at all. The problem is, it's too low. What I mean by that is *only* the low bass sounds good. It's as if the mid-range bass was just not connected. The bass just drops out above 120 hertz.

    Let's face it the sound system on this car is aweful. Quite frankly the worst I have ever owned in new car. Here is what I did and it helped dramatically, and it did not cost me much. Use high density foam and from the trunk stuff it between the metal that supports the speakers and the plastic trim inside the car. This will greatly reduce the rattling that comes from the sub woofer rattling the plastic trim. This foam should be about an inch thick. Cut it into small pieces about the size of your typical ice cube and use your finger to push it in tight. Next use 1/4 black in color high density foam a to cover the front center speaker which has an overbearing midrange sound. Use a piece of paper and using your fingers crease the paper in place to trace the shape of the speaker grill. Then use the paper as a template to cut the foam in the shape of the speaker grill. Use a small amount of double stick tape to stick the foam over the speaker grill. You will be surprised what this does to the quality of the sound. If you could disconnect the front center speaker I think you may have better results. I don't know how to access this connection.

    this video is going to hurt your sales and an inaccurate depiction of what we're going to experience in real life. we're not going to be pressing our ears over each individual speaker. what we are going to hear is a conglomeration of all the speakers as one. Next time, put the microphone in the middle and play a variety of music: hip hop, country, jazz, classical, pop and play around with the settings. range the bass, the tremble, etc up and down as you're playing the music. less talk and allow us to listen. this is a horrible review of the sound system.

    I would say the only pitfalls with Honda is no rebates and terrible sound systems. Honda needs to partner with Bose, JBL, Sony, or someone!! Any audiophile would deem ALL Honda systems to be TRASH especially the so- called “Premium” sound systems on higher trims.

      @geekstar2937 5 лет назад

      @@AsianJBlazian I have both 2016 Subaru Outback with Harman Kardon and 2017 Mazda 6 with Bose and to my surprise the Bose system sounds better. Much clearer and more "complete" sound (not sure how to describe it).
      The H&K in Outback has woofer in trunk while Mazda 6 has 2 woofers in front doors. I would expect the trunk woofer to be better, but in reality the bass sounds detached and doesn´t complement rest of the audio very well in Outback. On the other hand the Bose system in Mazda has good bass and much better midrange and tweeters, and creates much better stage. The only downside is that front doors vibrate a lot when you rise the volume too much. You can!t hear the vibrations, but you can feel them with your knees. :-)

      Won't ever happen, Honda is too cheap with things like speakers (small things in general and paint). The cheap budget Pioneer speakers that they used in the past sounded better than the ones they use now. Only improvement IMO is that the tweeters make up for the mid-speaker's sub-par performance. The subwoofer would be alright but, (as usual) Honda is too cheap to make a proper mounting area that won't have rattling problems.

      No, there's not any speakers mounted in the rear door. Why would you say that?
      There's the the two front left and right 6.5" mid bass woofers (mounted in the doors), the two front left and right tweeters (mounted in door sails), the single front center channel 3.5" mid range speaker (mounted in the front dash), the two rear left and right 6.5" mid bass woofers (mounted in the rear deck panel) and the one 8" subwoofer (mounted in the rear deck) for a total of ten speakers.

    I love your videos. But, the sound system in my 2018 Accord Touring model is the ONLY thing I do not like about this AWESOME automobile. It simply SUCKS big time. I can not hear a subwoofer if there is one and music suffers badly from...all the speakers. These speakers are as cheap sounding as possible. Other than the sound system this is an excellent automobile.

    I just bought a 2020 Honda Civic EXL. I was going for the touring model, as advertised, it was the only model with a “premium sound system”.. boy, was that a lie. I was immediately disgusted with the sound. I’m coming from a 2007 Acura TL with an amazing stock sound system that I’m dying inside to had given up. The sound system was one of my main selling points and since the touring didn’t have it.. I just downgraded to the EXL model. The sound system sounds EXACTLY the same as the touring model. Overall an awful sound experience. It sounds extremely cheap.

    I bought a 2019 Accord Hybrid touring 2 months ago. Similar to another reviewer, I didn't turn on the stereo, thinking that based on the description, it would be good. Big mistake. It's the thing that moves my overall disappointment with the car to a level of hate and contempt that makes me dread driving it. I am in my car a lot, and a stereo for me is the saving grace. This stereo is beyond anemic. It's gutless. It's irritating to listen to a song I love and hear how bad it sounds on this stereo. Why is Honda not partnering with Bose or some other audio company. At this price, this sub level quality sound system is a slap in the face, but honestly, this is consistent with the rest of my experience with this car. I cannot wait for the day I no longer own this vehicle.

    sounds like crap, Honda is starting to bug me with their audio offerings, why integrate everything like climate control, door locking, I own the 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback EX, and had to replace the speakers, added a sub, added amp and dsp, not a fan of their touchscreen really but there's no viable way to put an aftermarket radio without losing features, so you gotta settle for the crummy signal to your system, ride quality has gone downhill, tires they put is really loud, try to crank up the system to drown the noise but it's still there (the OEM radio) WTF!! I'll give this car another year and I will sell the damn car, they lost that saying pride in ownership owning a Honda.

      @farfrompuken99 6 лет назад

      Having a 3 band EQ is a good place to start considering it was only a 2 band from previous generations. Also, most base audio systems are at most 50 Watts, the reviewer here specifically mentioned that even on the base and Sport models there is a 180 watt power amplifier sending a decent amount of power to the speakers and dedicated subwoofer. And 7 speakers that are talking usually means front tweeters in midbass, left and right, 2 full range in the rear deck or rear doors, plus one centrally located subwoofer.
      So in other words yes, the 2018 Accord has a decent audio system assuming that's the answer to your extremely vague question

I had to install a Sony RSX-GS9 Hi-Res Stereo, it sounds awesome but I lose other functions. My 2013 Honda Pilot stock stereo sounds much higher quality than the piece of shit stereo Honda put on the accord. This is a 10 speaker stock system, you did not count the rear deck tweeters. I also have the 2k17 Touring Accord. The sound system is okay, to be honest. It is not that great when talking about them lows even there is a subwoofer included. The reason it gives that shitty rattle sound is that the woofer when gives that thump and bass, it shakes the speaker board.
      To make that unpleasant noise go-away, you would have to use some kind of a weather tape or soundproofing material, and place it between the rear brake light and windscreen.
      The other low key way is to put a cloth or some material through the metal openings through the trunk, and cushion the board and metal. When I did this hack, the rattle stopped altogether and now I can feel the bass and hear the sound clearly.
      Lalo Castro mentioned the hack earlier, and I can confirm that this works. It really takes few minutes. And finally, you would get the chance to enjoy the sound system. =)
