Great series Ryan! I'll admit.......Having been stationed in the US Navy in Florida for a few years and now often assaulted by the news of so many moronic jackasses who live there presently, it's not my favorite place. It was great to see some of the beautiful nature the area has to offer, and some of your fantastic new bike and hiking friends who offer me hope for the human race! Keep up the great work!! DD
Just bought a new set of 12l Aeroe Dry Bags with cradles for my Spider Rack, and was constantly pausing the video to look at everyones set ups! 😂Really enjoying the Florida series, look forward to "Gators!"
I need to adopt the word “schlop” into my vocabulary if only for its onomatopoeiaic value. I’m with you on Galaga. I had a Galaga phase in college. Great video.
My heart was broken today. Watching your video helped remind me of things to be grateful for and look forward to the cycling season in the Midwest. Thank you, Ryan for brightening up my day just a little bit ☺️
Duzer! My man, great to see you hit some Florida trails! Much like when you ride through a tunnel and sing 'ole, in Florida when we hit a patch of sugar sand we yell out "Sugar, Sugar" and your co-rider yells out "Honey, Honey!".
I wasn't worried so much about the gators while cycling through Florida's swamp parks. The thing that scared the beejesus out of me was the feral hogs.
@@duzer Thankfully, we didn't stick around long enough to find out how nasty. Mama boar and baby boar went one direction, we went the other....quickly. This was Savannas Park in the St. Lucie area.
This series is a pretty fun variation to the usual west coast riding… which is amazing and lacking on the east coast… however getting out there in the few awesome bikepacking areas out east is good to see what’s available to us mid/east coasters
Nuther great video Ryan! I was in Flo-rida once for a month, Fort Walton beach panhandle area, great body surfing, lots of sharks if you went out too far, one day it rained 7", the next day it was 90 degrees! The invisible biting bugs come out when the humidity is very high, and they swarm down at knee/ankle level! So cool................the coral snakes hang out under Palmetto bushes, the fire ants are insane! A month after a fire ant bite it still itches like crazy.....................all new stuff for a nor cal boy. You are lucky there arent bugs following you on your bike!
I'm constantly impressed by your videos. When we're in a "series" - it's my fav show of the week! Great that this is promoting Florida for backpacking. Keep up the great work Ryan - lovin it!
Great job with this. Glad you could come hang with us in the Florida bike packing scene. Karlos has done an amazing job creating these fun events and routes.
Duzer, that stretch of swamp, cycling solo, would feel like one was in the middle of nowhere. 60 miles of that desolate place would challenge anyone, especially if anything went wrong; flatties, crashies and maybe quicksand! I hope I bump into one day. I would have a blast riding with you. I guarantee we wouldn't run out of conversation. I'm Sicilian and my mouth runs like an open water faucet! 😁
Good to hear from those guy's from Surrey England. Tell me what's the procedure when you come across an alligator on the trail, do you just bunny hop over it 🐊
“Steep slope”. We are from upstate NY, at the southern edge of the Adirondack Mountains and visited FL a few years ago. We rented a couple Catrike 700 trikes to ride the Pinellas Trail. When we got directions from the bike shop, they said take a right here and you’ll hit your first hill. We keep looking for the hill, worried we were lost. Turns out the hill was an overpass as soon as we got on the trail… :). We rode and hiked a bunch of different places on that vacation and enjoyed every one. Looking forward to doing the Coast to Coast Trail.
Another awesome episode Ryan, very changeable conditions but handled like a pro👍I wish we got warm rain in Scotland😉Rain or gators? I know what I would choose😂
@@printerror I haven't tried it, it looks good, but certainly not as versatile as my axiom pannier rack, and so much more expensive. For example I have a huge Silky Katanaboy 650mm saw I use for trail clearing, witch I can carry on my rear rack with just 2 Velcro straps.
Funny to hear the King Alfred's Way - a bikepacking route very near to me - mentioned on a ride in Florida. Oddly enough, Florida is the only place in the States that I've ridden a bike! Always fun to ride along with you on your adventures. Bikepacking season almost upon us here in the UK, and inspired to get out there.

Lovely Ride!!!🎉🎉🎉 But man, I wonder if your buddy in green feels good riding his bike with that so low saddle, or is it his handlebar which is too high...
The saddle is on a dropper so you see it slammed whenever I'm off the bike. The handlebars are setup super neutral, the aero-bars are what sit up high. The bike is setup for 150 mile days and I'm perfectly comfortable the whole time. Got about 8k on that rig in two years, zero complaints. Thanks for the love Alberto! 🌯
I get crashies and flaties makes sense…but what’s a whammy? Guessing it’s getting either clotheslined by a tree limb or taken down by a falling rock / angry bear. 🐻🌲🚴

People's skin stays very nice and pliable in much of Flo-rida, because they are being basted with humidity and sweat all the time, always wet. 90% humidity is a real possibility.
I am surprised I have not seen any one on a fat tired bike, say with 3 inch wide tires. Would make sand riding a lot easier. Lets hope your belt does not mud up and break, like it did once. Are you carrying a spare belt?
I waisted over 26mins just now. Have you just been Sunday cleaning -sweeping and mopping your kitchen floor during a Ryan Van Duzer video? Don’t do that, you’ll miss everything and have to rewind the entire video. Seriously. Normally it’s Sinatra. But on Sundays, we switch it up a little.🎉
Well Ryan you say you never rode swamp before but you have it just wasn't in Florida. HA Those gators are just small bears they both can eat you. LOL ;) :) Loved the adventure. :)
I'm used to be afraid of bears in Sweden but not alligators. But maybe the alligators are worse. Do bear spray och bear bangers help or do they have other protection in Florida?
Díky!
Wow!! Thank you so much for your generosity!!!! You are awesome

No allie’s
I was thinking almost the same,lol.. No gatoreez..
Spoiler alert: There are gators in the next episode 😉
@@printerror Yes, it won't be a proper Florida ride unless someone gets eaten by a gator.
We only found friendly gators out there :)
I'd imagine that brakes would last a lifetime in florida lol. Great video and interesting terrain
Yes and no, they get ground down by mud and sand instead!
I run front and rear racks all the time just so I can line them with mudflaps zip tied on, it works perfectly, like nothing else ever does.
