The first Silent Hill movie was actually pretty damn good. Not the BEST horror movie ever, but holy fuck, was it creepy. Probably the best video game movie adaptation I've ever seen. ... I unfortunately cannot say the same for the sequel...
+Obsidian Knight I think the best way to look at it is "Least horrible of the video game movies" The movie itself is a lot better if you look at it like the director and writer creating their own story using elements from Silent Hill 1 and 2, because like you said, judging it on the basis of an accurate adaptation makes it a lot worse.
***** That is true, the basis I used for it only being inspired by the games was based on interviews with the director of the first one, and then relate that to interviews with the director of the second one. Michael J Basset directed Silent Hill: Revelation, and he said he would try to make the story like the 3rd game, but prioritize having it be a sequel to the first movie. Then when it actually came out it was nothing like the games story, and it also made giant errors when trying to make sense with the first movie, so not only did the director lie to everyone about the movie, it also was supposed to be just like the game and failed. So since the original director never claimed it would be a direct iteration of silent hill 1, I take that as a way of saying he wasnt trying to. And if youve seen Revelation, youll know why its easier to look at the first movie in a good light.
***** ... well thats actually a thing im afraid to report: The ending of Silent Hill Revelations implies that Sean Bean's Harry Mason is going to be looking for Rose DeSilva in an abandoned silent hill. As in Sean Bean being the equivalent of James Sunderland in a sequel bait. I do not trust this studio with Silent Hill 2 at all.
Yes. "Silent Hill" was just awesome. Great atmophere, great acting, great practical effects, nothing to complain about. People who complain about it not being exactly the SAME as one of the games, don't really understand what an adaptation is about.
I actually think the first movie is one of the best game adaptation and probably the only good game adaptation I've seen, At least it was scary unlike the resident evil movies
18 and I did find it scary at some points probably because I watched it at midnight idk, but I stil think is pretty decent for a horror movie based on a videogame
The 1st Silent Hill movie is probably the only video game-based movie that would be deemed good regardless if you played the game or not. Budgets cant be an excuse for the flops now cus of the way technology improved, yet some movies are still looking MK: Annihilation-y. I think it boils down to the director, the writer, and who they cast at this point.
Jossy FTW Forgot to mention Mortal Kombat 1, I agree. Can't say much about Persia but Kingsglaive got mixed reviews, some say it's all style, no substance or just all graphics and a crpytic plot thats hard to follow like most of the FF films.
As a huge fan of the Silent Hill games (especially 1-4), it hurt so much to watch this movie and to think that people who see it might think that the games are somehow similar to the movie(s). They're not, at all. They're infinitely better. I feel that the director had no respect for the source material when he made this travesty. Save for a few references here and there, there's nothing in it that gave me a feeling that he even played the games, much less understood their stories and deeper meanings. So please, don't judge the games because of the movies, they're landmarks in horror gaming (although the newer ones have strayed way off) and I recommend them to everyone :)
Jeremy doesn't care enough to go back and play the Silent Hill games, even though Silent Hill 2 is regarded as one of the best games of all time? Well then...
They made Heather have a love interest with her own blood relation... For the fucking sake of pulling the heartstrings of pure idiots. Pyramid Head fights the main villain. WHY? Why the fuck is pyramid head even here?? (he) is a monster created by James Sunderland's sins from a completely different story arc. There's no reason that this movie should have sucked so bad, but just for a quick cash grab, it really did. And god damn it, why is heather always so clean and unscathed in a bloody, rusty shit pit world of torture??
I remember the director giving an update on this movie's production back in the day. "It is going to honor the games, be scary and we're making this for SH fans." Years later the director has actually apologized.
He said that just to hype fans, I don't believe he's capable of doing that back in 2004. This is the filming year back then but as for now we'll see what happens.
The 3D didn't save it, but it was best use of 3D I've seen lately. Ash actually appears to fly out around you for atmoshere, things get in your face for decent jump scares, and I didn't walk out feeling like it was a totally pointless money grab, where you forget you're watching a 3D flick. In the end it felt like a cool amusement park ride through silent hill.
I think this is the only time I've actually laughed my ass off at the littlest thing in one of Jeremy's videos. I don't know why, but when he says "The whole movie was just a FUCKin mess!", I died a little inside.
The first movie actually wasn't that bad, the second one though( this one) made NO FUCKING SENSE AT ALL! You'd think if they had "revelation" in the title it'd answer some questions from the previous movie, NOT LEAVE YOU WONDERING WTF IS GOING ON!
Or at the very, VERY least, watch an LP of them several times over to get stuff to click. At least the director (pretty sure it was the director, its been awhile) of the first Silent Hill movie had actually PLAYED one of the games.
its now a popular opinion but I love the first Silent Hill movie. It had great atmosphere, creepy imagery, suspense and nice effects for the most part. but second one was pure horse shit in my opinion.
This movie was hilarious. I totally lost it at the beginning when Pyramid Head had a summer job in the Lakeside Amusement Park. You just can't top that.

I have played every Silent Hill game made on consoles. There are so many interpretations of this series. Silent Hill is a classic because its history, story, and characters are based on all the best that the horror genre had to offer during the time. If you just looked at all the allusions made in each Silent Hill you will wonder why you did not want to take the truly horrifying trip there in the first place. As for the movies the Silent Hill was loosely based on the first game however heavily drawn from the second game. The first movie was entertaining, and I saw it as a stand alone, a different story told in the same universe. Now Silent Hill 3 is in my opinion one of the best in the series because it had the extra f'ed up moments I come to love from the first game, and it was a direct sequel. The movie Silent Hill Revelations was probably the most faithful film adaptation of the third game. However, if people do not play the third game they will not understand the story. I liked the movie because of this fact. Now Silent Hill 3 is a great game, and I would recommend anyone play the game regardless of the movie. It only inspired the movie, it is not the movie.
I highly agree in this recommendation. I know you've got good taste in games Jeremy, since you're a big fan of Metal Gear. And Silent Hill 2 is among a few of the special games that I can confidently call a true work of art. Its not just a survival horror game, its really a psychological, surreal, and emotional experience...and I have yet to see a game with this level of depth since Team Silent's disbandment. So I can happily say it is more than worth your time to check it out.
Jeremy, believe me,Silent Hill 2 has an amazing story. Best one out of all games and movies. Its really worth it. I loved the first Silent Hill movie but I hated this one so much I can hear it saying "Kill me now!"
A liiiiiiiiiittle too harsh on this one Jeremy, I liked the movie and I do disagree with a lot of the stuff you said, I did play the games and am (well I consider myself) a big fan of the franchise and while the movies could've definitely been better, I don't think it deserved all the shit its getting
The movie is (technically) based on Silent Hill 3, where the main character, Heather Mason, is being forcefully put into Silent Hill. As it's a movie adaptation, it can't follow the story exactly. At the end of the movie they tease a movie based off of Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill Origins, or Silent Hill Downpour by having Sean Bean go back into Silent Hill, Vince and Heather being picked up by Grady the trucker, and a prison transfer bus going through Silent Hill.
Silent Hill movie is suppose to be about a father named Harry trying to save his daughter and not the mother. why, because Jodie Mason(the mother) is already dead in their early marriage. so the damn director completely destroyed the first movie, since I and many others have known Harry as the real main character of the game. and so the first movie is definitely, absolutely, without a question...dogshit. same goes for the second.
Oi oi! That is not a valid reason to judge the first movie. It kept true to the nature of the games compared to this. And so it wasn't trying to do something forced like the Avatar movie had in attempt to cram every episode into a movie unsuccessfully, it actually came up with its own original story in a sense while at the same time sticking to the general Silent Hill theme. It had story, it had a plot goal, it was fairly organized, so it was a decent movie. If they kept it strictly to the first game instead of have some room to explore, it would of felt like a repetition to the fans as well as not play out as good. Cut the first silent hill movie some slack, so far your argument sounds equivalent to someone groaning over the book being different than the movie. I thought the fact that everyone was actually dead had been an interesting concept as well as kept something more to the real place Silent Hill, seeing as everyone died in a fire there. Silent hill Revelations, however, is something I wish I could erase from my memory because not only from the stated things in the video, it also ruined my concept of the movie's form of the realm.
PoeticMother Pasta I`m not complaining about the first movie`s storyline. it just doesn`t feel right if you take a character who`s already dead in the game and put that character in the movie as the main character. to put it as an example, it`s like still having uncle Ben when Peter has already gotten the job at the Daily Bugel in all of Spiderman movies, even though the comic clearly state that uncle Ben died before Peter got a job. that`s what it feels like to me. just imagine if they didn`t put Jill Valentine in all of the Resident Evil movies at all. how would any R.E fans would feel any connections for the game that they love(even though the all of R.E movies were trash, to me at least). same goes for Transformers and I know that movie was trash as well, but it would be even more of a trash if they take out Optimus for the rest of the movie and the sequels and only replace him with Rodimus for the entire movie trilogy instead. that`s the point of what I`m saying.
***** and let hollywood ruin another SH movie. over my dead body. I would rether wait for a japanese version of the two movies, at the very least they won`t screw it up.
***** i wanna see a movie of JAAAAAAAAAAMES running around in fog saying terribly acted, strange dialogue, while im slowly being driven insane by terrifying sounds and deformed nurse hookersluts AAAAAHHHHAHHHHH!!!!!!
The problem with game movies is that games are based around a player when is experiencing a world around him. You could never do a Half-life or Bioshock movie (properly) because most of the time the main character is alone doing tasks. Now something like the first two Saint's Row games, you could make a film out of (imho) because they are all about interaction with well defined and interesting characters.
Die hard Silent Hill fan here, Revelations was terrible. That mannequin monster is the bane of my existence (never was in the video games, based off a mannequin room in SH3 which was way scarier than that monster could ever hope to be). Not because it's "scary" (which it really isn't), but because in the first movie the CGI was actually impressive, and it really paid homage to the SH series. But the mannequin's CGI is just awful. Throughout the movie, it's just awful. The entire movie was awful. They threw in random characters for ~love interest~, and just added so many unnecessary things for shock value. One positive thing about it! Apparently there were over 100 Robbie The Rabbits on set. That's it. the only good thing in the movie. Seeing Robbie the Rabbit.
Yeah. Especially if you want to experience the sudden decline in quality after the first three. It just get worse and worse until Downpour took half a baby step in the right direction (in my opinion).
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. I've never played the game either, but I expected so much more since the first one, in my opinion, was the best video game movie that I've seen. Favorite movie since 2006
this movie's plot was horrible, but you can't deny that it at least looked cool. The monsters are interesting to look at, especially the mannequin monster
Maybe it's because I grew up playing the first 4 games but I personally thought the first Silent Hill movie was kinda shit too. However it's pure genius when compared to this one. Whoooooo boyyyy was revelation garbage!
I totally agree with you, when i saw the movie i commented the same thing as you... to me this movie was awesome and it was great to see soo many elements from the game series. The only thing i dont like about this movie is that its created for the fans of Silent Hill (wich i am) so the people who didnt play the games dont know what is happening and then they comment how bad this movie was... i think they should explain some of the stuff in movie but for me it was a great movie.
Jeremy, I swear I don't even watch your reviews because I am interested in the movies. I just watch them because you're so hilarious and entertaining. Anyways, I'm gonna watch this movie soon, let's hope I don't die from being subjected to awfulness.
Jeremy, just want to remind you - the nurse monsters from the first movie reacted to light. The protagonist had to abandon her light source in order to get past the nurses - it was kind of tense at that point. The nurses in this movie reacted to sound - it wasn't as good as the first movie, and it wasn't the same at all :(
I really, totally, completely, absolutely, honestly and trly agree!! That is what I'm trying to say everytime I comment on a Silent Hill video on RUclips... and not many seem to understand... I'm a fan since SH1 (1999) and played most of the games, especially 1-4, and there's a HUGE difference between 1-3, and even 4, and the other titles...
I absolutely adore the thumbnail of this video because he did a really funny reaction towards this movie by getting that picture of himself from whichever editing software he uses. It's hilarious. 😂
Finished Homecoming a few days ago and I actually had a blast. Every Silent hill entry has something special so the combat was a nice adition for Homecoming. And I had some callenge fighting the bosses and those order guys kicked my ass.
I never said it was good, just creepy. I never played any of the SH games so I came from knowing nothing about it. It would be like a person saying that Jurassic Park was a great movie. I know they didn't read the book. :p
The first Silent HIll movie manages to adapt the first game while getting every single important detail wrong. They change the main character . . . for absolutely no reason, they turn the main antagonist into a sympathetic character, they completely disregard the lore behind the cult and why Allessa was burned alive (in game canon, she was actually burned by her mother as part of a demon/god-ressurrection ritual, but in the movie, she was burned as a witch) and that whole thing at the end with the demonic entity was bullshit. Still, it's certainly not the worst videogame adapataion that I've ever seen. I think the only adaptations that managed to irrritate me less, were the first MK movie, and the first RE movie. They at least got the look, the nurses, and the sound-track down, even if I didn't really enjoy a single thing about the actual plot. I've seen one scene from the SHII movies, and it was that spider-manniquin thin . . . yeah, I'll pass. It's a real shame that the movie turned out to not be even remotely salvageble, because Heather Mason (I don't know what the girl's name in the movie is, but that's supposed to be her) was my favorite protagonist in the series.
A book movie is an adaptation to a treasure without image and anybody can create theyre own image of it while they're reading it (which isnt that sensitive if you keep it faithful). A videogame adaptation are two things: 1. a movie about something that already has an image of his own and it doesnt need an adaptation, in definition, a money maker produced by Hollywood's lack of creativity of these days. Or 2. a tribute to a great game saga (Mortal Kombat and Prince of Persia movies are examples)
Personally I like GoodBadFlicks review of the silent hill movie. The first movie was actually very well done and a very deep and multilayered movie. Now the second one was just.... eh...
Agree, if they make another one, it should based on Silent Hill 2 or Shattered Memories. I know, Shattered Memories is essentially a remake of the first one but the story is so much different than the original and I thought it was better.
Nevermind. I thought that Claudia was Alessa’s sister because Heather had called her “Sister” in a scene in the game, and I found some notes in the game where Heather had also referred to Claudia as her sister. But I just looked it up, and it says that Alessa spent so much time with Claudia as a kid, that she only “Thought” of her as a sister. They weren’t really blood related. None of that was explained in the game though. So I got confused. :)
The Silent Hill games are fantastic. You really should play them if you haven't already. I recommend Silent Hill 2 as a starting point. It doesn't require you to play the first one because it's its own self contained story that might make you want to go back and play the original.
I will not lose faith in the fact that a truly good video game movie can be made. My guess is that because videogames are not respected enough as an art form in the mainstream media they don't usually tend to attract most of the greater talents in the film industry, and the few times that they do (like with Peter Jackson and Halo, or Gore Verbinski and Bioshock) the directors have so many great ideas that the entire project fails due to over-amition and budget problems.
Me and my friend watched this movie the other day. I fell asleep because it was late and the movie was boring but he kinda liked because he played the Silent Hill games and knows some of the characters. I loved it when Pyramidhead ripped that chick's skin off though.
these are the ones I remember: Travis the truck driver who gives the ride at the end is from SH Origins and the intro of Homecoming, the prison transfer right after that is from SH Downpour, and the map layout that she looks in the aylum is exactly from the games, and the character's look are pretty close to the original, exept Vincent's, and everything else is faithfull from the games, I hope that you Check it out, I'm waiting for your reply!!
dude I think my parents took me to that violent / bloody wax exhibit in SF when I was like 6 or 7. I just remembered that right now when you were talking about it. that actually explains a lot lol.
At least something like Prince of Persia, that one isnt just based on the first game of the "6th Generation POP saga" it also has elements from the old POP games, That movie was a good example of an acceptable and not unsufferable videogame movie.
I liked the first one to. Main cast of all girls taking charge, doing a solid job together. Just change the director's reasonings, and I think it would've been a well remember movie.
You've made me want to see this movie. It's official, I'm watching it. I honestly agree with most of you're reviews and assume you're right. But I'm a huge fan of Rifftraxx and MST3K. I also often will play a game on my Wii U and let a movie play just so I can look up at something occasionally. Most recently it was Snakes on a Plane. Next.... Silent Hill Revelation.
I'm not saying the original gameplay is better than SM, I was talking about about the story aspects. I always felt that SH(Wii version) was extremly underrated even though it had many flaws. Perhaps my adaptation idea is quite stupid since SH is a strongly story based adventure game.
You should definitely play the first three games. You'd be blown away by how amazing they are and how insulting both movies are to the Silent Hill franchise.
The 3D totally saved this movie. Its been the coolest 3D that I've seen in about a year. Its so good that when you combine the 3D with the movie itself it makes it better than the first one.
The Silent Hill games are amazing. Silent Hill 2 is a horror masterpiece and easily one of the best video games ever made. Its such a shame that the people who made this movie couldn't do the games justice. The first film didn't really do the franchise justice either, but it still wasn't that bad.
I don't watch horror movies, but I watched the first Silent Hill movie. That says a lot, even if I couldn't sleep with the lights off for a day or two, I still would watch it. I didn't even go see this. I knew I would be disappointed.
One thing that bothered me with this movie was that the dark world wasn't dark and you could see anything around you, where as in the game you literally can't see anything your only hope is using a flashlight, I know that if the scenes were very dark the viewer won't see anything but couldn't they at least try to play the game at first before working on the movie to understand the lore behind it.
This movie felt like a really well done fan based film, rather then a full blown film to be put on theaters. Though I am confused why people who played the game hate the movie. It is ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON. The games always had bad paced cheesy dialogue, the monsters are all random and creepy, and have deep definitions only if you read the sypnosis in a video game site. The film is spot on with most of the story from Silent Hill 3 as well. Anything is better then the Resident evil films at least.
The first Silent Hill movie was actually pretty damn good. Not the BEST horror movie ever, but holy fuck, was it creepy. Probably the best video game movie adaptation I've ever seen.

Play silent hill 2, that game is worth it.
The Infinity Gamer Silent Hill (1999) and Silent Hill 3 are worth it too o3o
Billsef Jones Are you just saying that because Crowshaw said that?
Netherwolf6100 who the fuck is crowshaw
Kazikox Zero Punctuation
Netherwolf6100 I thought he's yatzee or something like it
I actually think the first movie is one of the best game adaptation and probably the only good game adaptation I've seen, At least it was scary unlike the resident evil movies
Scary? How old are you?
Sirian Kaeregean 6 Coming from the lego collector guy.. I can ask you the same thing.

18 and I did find it scary at some points probably because I watched it at midnight idk, but I stil think is pretty decent for a horror movie based on a videogame
***** Awesome
Sean Bean in silent hill...so that's where he goes when he is respawning after his many deaths :0
oh my god
NekoSoren hahahaha
Not only is this movie crap, it did the cardinal sin of making Pyramid Head a good guy who fights with the power of love.
+Dark Mountain Productions
Bascically Nemesis on Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
+Dark Mountain Productions It's the power of love!! Just kidding you are right
+Dark Mountain Productions Having pyramid head is a cardinal sin.
Why do people keep misunderstanding what Pyramid Head is and what he represents?
I haven't even played SH2 and I know this!
how would you know what pyramid head IS, if you havent played the games?
The 1st Silent Hill movie is probably the only video game-based movie that would be deemed good regardless if you played the game or not.

Ty Spikes Hehe that would be mainly FF 13 and the stupid sequels. They are torturous to get through.
Deadrope Tater ha hitman no just no

the first silent hill movie is great, it haunts my dreams it's so scary lol
I liked it too, but this one was just awful.
MrStickman1997 yea it looked stupid so i didn't even waste my time
That “Lucky Us!” is such a visceral vibe that sums up things up beautifully.
The first movie was great as a horror film. Sorry.
I Love it
Absolutely
Big facts.
I finished watching it today and it was dog shit
Yep the first one was good
I feel bad for Jeremy because now he won't know about the awesome of the real Silent Hill. I wish he could play Silent Hill 2.
You should keep in mind, that Silent Hill 2 is one of the greatest games of all time...
has nothing to do with the movie quality
The craziest thing is that Sean Bean lives through both films, two horror films no less
Jeremy doesn't care enough to go back and play the Silent Hill games, even though Silent Hill 2 is regarded as one of the best games of all time? Well then...

Pyramid Head is Alessa's Guardian and Executioner
2nd Worst modern horror movie. The first silent hill movie was good.
Silent Hill: Revelation was a fun thriller/'horror" themed action movie.
The first one pissed me off to no end...Eh, I left a comment above.
I remember the director giving an update on this movie's production back in the day. "It is going to honor the games, be scary and we're making this for SH fans."

me: SILENT HILL DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!
I literally said the exact same thing today when re watching it😂
If you play the games, the movies will just piss you off more
Dude, you seriously need to play the Silent Hill games in order to really appreciate how fucking shitty this movie is.
+Lydian77 Your comment wins a potato. xD
Or at the very, VERY least, watch an LP of them several times over to get stuff to click. At least the director (pretty sure it was the director, its been awhile) of the first Silent Hill movie had actually PLAYED one of the games.
Kizsurian #GetReqtJeremyLol
why did this make me want to watch this film
cringlemon To gaze into the abyss. You want to see how truly awful it is.
its now a popular opinion but I love the first Silent Hill movie. It had great atmosphere, creepy imagery, suspense and nice effects for the most part. but second one was pure horse shit in my opinion.
I actually enjoyed it. The plot wasn't THAT complicated, and the Missionary was a pretty cool monster.
This movie was hilarious. I totally lost it at the beginning when Pyramid Head had a summer job in the Lakeside Amusement Park. You just can't top that.
Jeremy darling you gotta reevaluate your priorities and at least make time for Silent Hill 2.
Silent Hill 2 could make a damn good movie adaptation, although it would require some serious talent to capture the eerie and quiet that Silent Hill 2 perfected.
And since it would be a video game adaptation, I don't see anyone talented getting involved.
I only watched this movie cause of Kit Harington
***** LOL it definitely isn't
As long as they don't try to ruin Silent Hill 2 with a movie, I'll be just fine.
PT is a skyscraper.
This movie is a small dog turd on the sidewalk next to it.
Trust me Jeremy
if you've played the videogames
this movie is MUCH MUCH worse....
much worse
ugh pyramid head shouldnt even be there
neither should the lying figures or the nurses ugh

Now Silent Hill 3 is in my opinion one of the best in the series because it had the extra f'ed up moments I come to love from the first game, and it was a direct sequel. The movie Silent Hill Revelations was probably the most faithful film adaptation of the third game. However, if people do not play the third game they will not understand the story. I liked the movie because of this fact. Now Silent Hill 3 is a great game, and I would recommend anyone play the game regardless of the movie. It only inspired the movie, it is not the movie.
Silent Hill 2 is one of the best video games ever. You really should play and review it, Jeremy.
^ Best part of the movie was when the one chick said "Fuck Facebook" Dunno why, but I fucking laughed my ass off at that random line
I watched it just now and was not that bad, pretty fun but not that creepy like first one
Zane Game it really wasnt that bad, i agree with you
If i could disagree more believe me i would.
The other silent Hill movie was good.
PoeticMother Pasta
I`m not complaining about the first movie`s storyline. it just doesn`t feel right if you take a character who`s already dead in the game and put that character in the movie as the main character.
to put it as an example, it`s like still having uncle Ben when Peter has already gotten the job at the Daily Bugel in all of Spiderman movies, even though the comic clearly state that uncle Ben died before Peter got a job. that`s what it feels like to me.
just imagine if they didn`t put Jill Valentine in all of the Resident Evil movies at all. how would any R.E fans would feel any connections for the game that they love(even though the all of R.E movies were trash, to me at least).
same goes for Transformers and I know that movie was trash as well, but it would be even more of a trash if they take out Optimus for the rest of the movie and the sequels and only replace him with Rodimus for the entire movie trilogy instead.
that`s the point of what I`m saying.
They need to make one about JAAAAAAAAAAMES.
*****
and let hollywood ruin another SH movie. over my dead body. I would rether wait for a japanese version of the two movies, at the very least they won`t screw it up.
*****
i wanna see a movie of JAAAAAAAAAAMES running around in fog saying terribly acted, strange dialogue, while im slowly being driven insane by terrifying sounds and deformed nurse hookersluts AAAAAHHHHAHHHHH!!!!!!
Cleo Mikan yes I love the games too but this movie was just god awful. The first one was great tho
God this movie was terrible! The first movie was decent. However, I just wish it was Harry Mason looking for his daughter instead...
The director said, Harry had woman movement patterns, so he wanted to cast a female for the movie. :P
It was good, still.
I consider you play at least 1-3. Don't touch upon the other ones. You'll like them if you like Resident Evil. Just try them. You won't regret it.
I'd say 1-4, but I guess that depends on your preference...
IisBatman1993
I'd say all of them, since I feel that all of the games in the franchise are worth playing at least once.
Yeah. Especially if you want to experience the sudden decline in quality after the first three. It just get worse and worse until Downpour took half a baby step in the right direction (in my opinion).
IisBatman1993
Personally, I like every game in the series except for Shattered Memories.
The Facebook reference, Vincent being a “high school student,” Claudia looking like a Cenobite. No, just no…
5:58 thanks for making my shitty day better mate! :'D
This movie is still better than any adam sandler movie.
Play 2. It's a great game and it will show you the source material was good with 1,2,3 and Shattered Memories.
Maybe it's because I grew up playing the first 4 games but I personally thought the first Silent Hill movie was kinda shit too. However it's pure genius when compared to this one. Whoooooo boyyyy was revelation garbage!
I mostly sgree with you Jeremy but this movie is average is not dog shit
rodrigo villanueva
This movie is so far below average, it's even comparable to The Room. But at least The Room is funny.

Dan Slash good for you but i disagree
I totally agree with you, when i saw the movie i commented the same thing as you... to me this movie was awesome and it was great to see soo many elements from the game series. The only thing i dont like about this movie is that its created for the fans of Silent Hill (wich i am) so the people who didnt play the games dont know what is happening and then they comment how bad this movie was... i think they should explain some of the stuff in movie but for me it was a great movie.
I absolutely loved the first one a lot and I somewhat enjoyed this one but I don't think it was horrible.
Ok maybe it was horrible...
And I had some callenge fighting the bosses and those order guys kicked my ass.
you just gotta love jeremy jahns and his reviews !
Now the second one was just.... eh...
I used to love this movie when I was younger
I like the first Silent Hill movie, and this seem to be based on Silent Hill 3? I want to watch it, but...
You know what's so much better than this movie? The sound of my mouse as it clicks the subscribe button!
I'm expecting you will be reviewing Return to Silent Hill in this year 2024.
Agree, if they make another one, it should based on Silent Hill 2 or Shattered Memories.
I know, Shattered Memories is essentially a remake of the first one
but the story is so much different than the original and I thought it was better.
I loved it when Pyramidhead ripped that chick's skin off though.
these are the ones I remember:
Travis the truck driver who gives the ride at the end is from SH Origins and the intro of Homecoming, the prison transfer right after that is from SH Downpour, and the map layout that she looks in the aylum is exactly from the games, and the character's look are pretty close to the original, exept Vincent's, and everything else is faithfull from the games, I hope that you Check it out, I'm waiting for your reply!!
"You can do what you are doing but quieter" Story of every bus journey in the world.
dude I think my parents took me to that violent / bloody wax exhibit in SF when I was like 6 or 7. I just remembered that right now when you were talking about it.
that actually explains a lot lol.
The first movie was very creepy.
This movie was devoid of a single redeeming value.
The first Silent Hill was enjoyable. This one, from what I've seen so far, won't even get me past the trailers.
You're reviews are so entertaining, i actually watched Silent Hill Revelations just to see how bad it was.
The silent hill games are actually really good and really creepy, especially the first two
Is there gonna be silent hill 3?
At least something like Prince of Persia, that one isnt just based on the first game of the "6th Generation POP saga" it also has elements from the old POP games,
That movie was a good example of an acceptable and not unsufferable videogame movie.
Jeremy. I swear this is supposed to be based off of SH3 but it butt fucks it horribly.
No Jeremy, you SHOULD go back and play Silent Hill 1-4, seriously.
Ah man, I died when you imitated Natalie Portman. You are eerily good at impressions.
I was waiting for a 2nd one for a while, i can't believe this is what they come up with.
One thing that bothered me with this movie was that the dark world wasn't dark and you could see anything around you, where as in the game you literally can't see anything your only hope is using a flashlight, I know that if the scenes were very dark the viewer won't see anything but couldn't they at least try to play the game at first before working on the movie to understand the lore behind it.
oh god the racoon part had me in tears :DD
This movie felt like a really well done fan based film, rather then a full blown film to be put on theaters. Though I am confused why people who played the game hate the movie. It is ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON. The games always had bad paced cheesy dialogue, the monsters are all random and creepy, and have deep definitions only if you read the sypnosis in a video game site. The film is spot on with most of the story from Silent Hill 3 as well. Anything is better then the Resident evil films at least.
