Tony was a good looking guy with his well quaffed hair and Slime has a great head to be bald. Each man hot in his own way. Not all men can pull off the bald look because they have weirdly shaped or bumpy heads. I can totally understand not wanting to have the hair making you hot and sweaty and the thought of being smelly is horrible. You guys are funny, I loved this episode. Keep up the good work! PS- Lud, I did give you a Happy Birthday shout out as a payback for the one you sent to me. The night this fun all started. ❤Janet
Yea the boys r justified in bringing this up every time slime wants to do a bet for the rest of the podcast, he definitely didn’t hold up his end, RIP tony star
As someone who Ludwig described as a passing Melee enjoyer I loved the swiss format. The amount of games was just the right number and it allowed me to find a player to root for than a quick best of 16 where I don't get the time to find out who the players are
Yeah, I’m really not a big melee watched but in part the format got me to watch this tournament a lot more. I think you get more interesting matchups in the groups.
@@mifosmovievault8335that’s the point of the closet joke no? That slime is a able to live in conditions that the normal man couldn’t stand. In conclusion he switched
Swiss is the best format. It's used by like every other esport because it strikes a balance of having a variety of games while having every game mean something
I have never really watched much melee before this, but I have loosely followed it, I really enjoyed the swiss bracket, it was fun to watch and the visual that was showed made it really easy to understand.
Swiss is just too goated man. I hope Aiden keeps it for future tournaments. I’m not an avid smash watcher, but it’s just always nicer to have a more ‘accurate’ competitive format no matter how much/little you follow an esport.
I liked Swiss format. I never watch the early games with the non-top players, but this time I watched almost every game and had a great time. I learned a lot about so many players that I never heard of. The swiss bracket graphic that was put on the stream made it very easy to understand. Not sure if secondary/quad stream is something that could be implemented that would add more time for content..
I preferred the Swiss bracket. As someone who hasn't watched much Melee I felt like I got to learn a lot more about many different players I haven't heard of before and started rooting for them. Ludwig needs to give his audience more credit. Seeing the same top 16 players at every tournament isn''t as entertaining.
I could be wrong, but I think Ludwig let's one specific or a couple of top Melee players make up his opinion on Swiss. If they don't like it, then he is against it. I think the audience liked it more. I enjoyed getting to learn about players I never knew of and them having a chance in winning.
As a simpleton who only watched the melee tournament because I like the yarnd and have a vague interest in melee, the Swiss bracket was fantastic. Should keep the format or something similar for sure it was hella interesting to follow because of how simple the the format is to understand.
Glad to see any bets on The Yard don't matter anymore. Next time Slime wins a bet, hope the boys remember this moment and don't give in. Or if he venmos them all back $75
I'm a very casual melee fan, I dont play and I miss most tournaments, I'm at a level where if I get the chance I'll watch a stream with a few cans and have a nice evening to myself. Genuinely thought the Swiss Format was a phenomenal addition. Made for such a refreshing watch. I feel like it could have been an extremely confusing watch if not for the production's extremely informative graphics.
I am new to watching Smash tournaments because of Lud and the Boys and I’m with Aiden. I really enjoyed the Swiss format. I didn’t understand it but I liked seeing people that are good face other people which they would have missed out on if they got booted out immediately.
I do think slime has to hold this L for a while. He would clown on anyone else for how early he took it off. That being said, I do think it’s a different kind of prank that is so inexorably connected to his own image that I don’t think anyone can blame him too much
Yeah. I think this is the key. Like if you have 32 players or something. And run Double Elim, if Mango, and Leffen both get knocked out day 2? The last day is like... UNWATCHED. Also it's much less stressful and much better gameplay to see MORE people face MORE people. But not as boring as Round Robin,.
As someone who started watching Melee from this pod I do like the swiss format. I think commentators did a really good job explaining people and holding storylines between games. I wouldn't have cared about Salt's games without commentary. I wouldn't have cared about Swift and his Obelisk. The graphic explaining swiss was also really well done IMO. I have faith in whatever you guys do running a tournament in the future though
This is the first time I heard of Salt and I doubt she would have been invited to a 16 person bracket (I could be wrong), so I agree. I also learned about many other players. Seeing and hearing about the same 16 Melee players since Ludwig started streaming is less interesting to me anymore.
As someone who wears a hair piece almost 24/7 and doesn't shampoo it, I am now paranoid about the smell. The only time I've noticed the smell was when I get monthly maintenance on it and when they pull it off a massive stench gets released. But theres nothing you can do about that because its all trapped underneath the base so shampooing won't help the soap doesn't get to it. Probably helps that I don't live in a country that is extremely hot and very sedentary so the sweat isn't that bad an issue. Yall probably should have got a mesh base so that the scalp can breathe. Its what I have no and haven't noticed a smell like my old base.
I like swiss for a small invitational type event. You get more great games and a more relaxed vibe during pools. I have been a melee fan for a decade though
I loved the swiss bracket, I thought it was fun to watch and I liked seeing players that might not have played as much in a double elim bracket get to play more games and it makes it less likely for people to be randomly upset
as someone who watches a lot of vct double elim bracket is pretty good but to be fair i understood swiss well enough from just taking a look at the bracket during a brb screen. it was a really cool event
I am normie viewer, not an SSBMhead, just casual viewer, really enjoyed the swiss: all the early games felt super tense even not as elims. Maybe Mango's just the GOAT, but his sets against Magi and Hbox were awesome
As someone who doesn’t normally watch smash events but has seen the doc, the Swiss format was very enjoyable and I think the event would be worse off if it was a 16 man double elim.
It is tragic tho how no one in these comments are talking about how 1. Archie should not have been banned for that top-tier satire and 2. He was right 100%.
@@marielle8757 oh ABSOLUTELY, chances are it was an auto-ban so like i get it but its still a dumb reason for anyone to be banned- i said the antonym of alive on Twitter last week, instbanned for the day lol
Great episode guys! However, I don't know if including footage of Aiden being beheaded was totally necessary. Anyway... RIP Tony Star... Stars always burn the brightest at their end.
I think Swiss is more hype if you’ve watched any esports in general. Knowing the top players is fun and their matches are almost always hype, but getting the chance to see a player you might not have and see them across multiple matches was a ton of fun and you are able to find non top players who get you excited about the game and the way they play. At least from a content perspective that’s where I land.
Might be interesting to look into having a side-stream for when fun events come up so there can be content for both the super gamers and casual for fun viewers. You could either put the events on main stream and extra matches on the side stream, or vice versa. And then when the events are over, the matches come back and everything proceeds as normal.
Ludwig, call a pest control company. They’re the ones who can remove dead animals if they’re stuck in a weird location (like in a wall or in the vent).
Honestly, the lights that shine brightest always burn faster. Tony Star was an awesome bit that everyone loved, and tho he might be gone, he will not soon be forgotten.
i didn’t understand how swiss pools worked at all but i thought it was sick because it allowed me to see a bunch of cool matches. it was pretty cool imo
I think it’s lame that the bet wasn’t followed through on but I think Slime’s rationale and reasoning the whole time was fair, reasonable, and not in-bad-faith. So don’t think it’s necessarily something for him to feel bad about, as sure he was dumb as he acknowledges, but not intentionally dumb or malicious in his not washing nor any kind of sabotage.
I agree, but he's logic on being reliable on a bet/not paying back some of the other bet is a little off. If their chill with it though, it don't matter.
He refused to wash it for a week and then cut it off because it smelled bad. If he followed the instructions from the beginning it never would have smelled bad in the first place.
The tournament format talk reminded me of a style of format I haven't seen replicated yet. TotalBiscuit Did a king of the hill style event for SC2, where the players did not know who was coming up next and prize money was based on win streaks. It had a WWE vibe where we got matches between players who wouldn't normally play each other. As a spectator it was so fun to watch, i dont know how well it translates to Melee though.
Heavy agree with Janet, Slime looks really handsome with or without hair. I love that he got an ego boost for a minute but bald Slime is just iconic and real. 🫶🏻❤️
Lmao the bit about the “medicine” reminds me of some shit my friends and I used to do at bars called the Reverse Tequila Shot. First you snort the salt, then squeeze the line into your eye, and then take the tequila shot.
The image in my mind of Slime destroying Tony Star is like the episode of the simpsons where homer gets a hair transplant, but it's snake's hair so it becomes evil and alive and comes off his head and runs around until it gets shot
