  • Checking the weather app on my phone is great, but sometimes the data is from a weather station dozens of miles away. I will show you how to get the most accurate weather information by building a WiFi connected weather station right in my own yard. This information can be sent to the National Weather Service, or apps like Weather Underground, or if you’re into home automation and use Home Assistant, it can be used to trigger other automations.
    The post How to Build an Internet-Connected Weather Station is live on Maker.

    Just a tip : sensor wiring should enter through the bottom of an enclosure if possible, and always with a drip loop.
    Builders describe this as relying on *physics* to keep water out instead of just relying on the *chemistry* of your sealant.
    Ow, looks awesome. Thanks!

      Good tip! When you install a SpaceX Starlink system, their instructions specify a drip loop too! 😎✌️

      Great tip. I installed the temp, pressure, and humidity sensor on the bottom for this reason. I could have done this with the wind vane and anemometer, but I wanted to keep the number of holes through the enclosure to a minimum. The solar panel wire was too short to route through the bottom, so it needed to be on top. I've had it out for several months through torrential rain and it's still dry as a bone inside. I'll have to read more about drip loops, thanks for the tip!

      this man is beyond help, he drilled threw a solar panel and he placed it under the contraption he built..... its ok and it will work for a while ...... but its not digikey okey !!! they can do better

    What's the data collecting interval here? For example if you collect data every 30 seconds, it means you can probably put the ESP32 module into deep sleep between those intervals and consume less energy that way. Might allow you to account for cloudy days or seasons when days are shorter when the solar panel won't generate that much power.

    Does anyone could point me where can I UPLOAD my data to, for free?
    I have tried Weather Underground without any luck. I need more options.

    Do DigKey have a BOM list where you could just click one link to see the price of everything and then add it all to your basket?

      That's a great idea. They definitely should have that for their projects!

    Can it be done in a way that data will be send over a mobile data transfer instead of wifi? I need a weather station in remote place without wifi.

    Wouldn't you need to have the wind speed and direction sensors above the height of the trees to be accurate?

    • @larrybud
      @larrybud 6 месяцев назад +1

      Only if you want to know the wind speed above the trees...

    I'm curious.. if the MS8607 is inside the box.. and it's sealed up water tight.. how are you getting accurate temperature and humidity and air pressure outside the box?

    • @MikeMacKinnon-yc6md
      @MikeMacKinnon-yc6md Месяц назад

      okay.. I see now. you 3d printed a smaller box with air holes and put that on the bottom of your weatherproof enclosure.

      Some kind of weighing scale that would allow melt water to drip off?

    Your video was fantastic! The content truly deserves more engagement and visibility,but it seems that your videos are currently struggling to gain views.
    However, upon review, I noticed that your videos lack optimization, particularly in terms of SEO. Its current SEO score is 30 out of 100! which is lower than standard, hampering its exposure to a broader audience. I'd be thrilled to assist if you're open to it. Let me know your thoughts.
