Thanks Lucy and Ryan. Really made me mindful of how long lived plastic is and how much of our modern stuff is packaged in this indestructible stuff. I Recognized the birdseye brand veg. But I'm so ancient that I remember when it was packaged in waxed white cardboard with a waxed printed lable. Lol. We didn't have 1/2 pennies but as a child I remember buying sweets 2 for a penny and being excited if I found a penny on the ground! Thanks again.😁💖

Frozen foods came in small bags because before people had home freezers they only had a small freezer compartment at the top of the fridge. You could just about fit in a pack of fish fingers a small bag of peas & a rather thin cardboard packed block of ice-cream. Maybe you could then fit in the ice cube tray but not a great deal more. Some fridges didn't even have that & only had a little slot for an ice cube tray.

Great lark. The Boots bottle at 27.08 is ribbed, which usually means a poison of some sort. At school, my science teacher always said if inhaling an unknown liquid, to breath in clean air to 95% lung capacity, only then open the lid to gently inhale the smallest whiff at that point. Take care when opening the stopper of long dead liquids, they may expand suddenly when the air hits. Enjoying your journeys and your narrative is always so interesting.

That was so fascinating to watch and see the old packaging, the only ones I do remember that you found was the crisps, the can drink ring pull being that shape, and the smarties sweets lid, one thing I would love to see you find is the old creams bottles, * Oil Of Ulay * my daughter was convinced it was always and has been forever Oil of Olay face lotion and to some point that is true abroad but not here in the UK I was born in mid 1970s and remember mum using it and it being called Oil of Ulay, so funny. The other creams my mum used then was Ponds face cream and Nivia all still going today, but I do love that old packaging and labels so unique and lots of memories. Keep searching and thank you for the happy memories you’ve uncovered from the past.

I also LOVE packaging...there's something about it that just thrills me. I don't think the fascination is just from remembering my childhood in the 70s and 80s because I also love older packaging....it's just that it's ephemeral. Not something that usually lasts...so when we get to see it intact, it's like really looking into the past isn't it?

I have a child's iron that's a real working iron. It's metal on the bottom with a bakelite handle. Then it has a cord with a plug and UL listed. I also have the ironing board. I have never plugged in the iron but it may work. I think it's from the 1930s or 40s. I love it and I'm going to hang them both on my laundry room wall. I am considering hanging the board as a shelf. Who knows. Great video and Ryan is doing a great job with his detector. I love the you appreciate the stories that the items could tell amd u appreciate their beauty. You can create what ever from old advertisements...those plastics can be clued and varnished like a decoupage over what ever...even wooden chairs...tabletops...etc and broken beer cans---cut and straight and also use on projects - "Money for nothing" TV show is great source for inspiration. "Salwage Dawgs" American TV show...also great for inspiration

Dear Lucy, we had a working mother in the 1980s. As a child of the 50s she embraced all things ( artificial) innovative and time saving with enthusiasm. Unfortunately this occasionally included food, which was odd, because she was a very good cook. I remember those repulsive instant potatoes. Not even mixing with cream and butter could save them. Floury, dusty & tasteless - worse, they were really cardboard flakes. She even tried, at one point, making croquettes. No use. We resorted to baked potatoes. Yum. I learned an early lesson. Don’t mess with nature. Great video, again. Good on you clearing up the plastic too, graphic exercise in how long they survive eh? 🌸😊🌸

Smaller frozen food packets as most people only had a freezer compartment the size of a few shoe boxes in their fridge , we didn't even have a fridge until 1971 , I guess packets would have been larger in the States with freezers being more common place in most households .

My Sammie kitty is watching your video with me :-). She's cuddling this morning :-). I especially love the small glass bottles and jars you find. I think if they were textured glass jars with large necks a bit larger than a tea light I would love using them for candle holders! I collect metal, glass and cardboard containers. Amazing how many candy boxes and cake boxes from around the 1920's survive. People would store things in them, and they often have flowers or pretty lady pictures on the lid. Also I find cosmetic containers, talc tins and boxes. All pretty small, sometimes filled with treasures - buttons, jewelry, hair pins, stamps, etc. The unusual pottery shards and the glass pieces you find are fantastic! Thanks for sharing your treasures :-), always look forward to your next video!
