Nick does such a drastically better job at explaining this stuff than the other youtubers. I've watched like 5+ videos from other major youtubers and some don't even bother reading the announcements before doing their "explanation" videos and no one does it as well as Trainer Tips

Every time he starts the video, I wish he would at least make himself some bullet points before he begins, because he constantly strays off topic, repeats things over and over etc. it's not a major critique, just something I noticed
Where I live the power spots were points of interest from Pikmin Bloom. Which kinda sucks for me - I live in a rural place, so probably no chance of power spots appearing.
I have had 2 Pokestops accepted in the past, but since they were too close to an existing Pokestop the game did not include it. Both of them are temporary spots for Max Particles now. So previously approved requests but not included in the game are being used instead of just a business. I see those too, so it is a combination.
It has nothing to do with wayspots at all, just a coincidence.

@@vcvrvwjv they are also putting them in someplaces that poke’ stops have been removed because of a request. I church I have as by going to work has one. It has not had a stop in over 3 years.
@@lemonz1769No. It's a combination of waypoints that haven't fit with Pokemon Go's previous S2 cell criteria and businesses. You can see some of those POIs in Ingress.
It’s amazing to me that Dynamax as a concept was inspired by Pokémon Go raid battles and is now in Pokémon Go. We have come full circle.

@@dayshonsmith1485 The Gyms in Sword and Shield are strongly inspired by the Gyms that have been in Pokemon GO since the beginning: you face the Gym leaders in an open playing field surrounded by a stadium. They just didn't make it clear those are supposed to be people in the background until they created the Rocket Gym Raids with Shadow Pokemon.
was pleasently suprized when my parents busness was showing on the map (they work form home) so now i just have a powerspot right on my house

they rotate, so it won't be there forever, but it will sort of come and go.
Great until you find out after the dynamax despawns, the power spot disappears entirely and they don't stick around for that long either

I find monetizing the max battle reward "bonus" as some major enshittification, I'm afraid of what setting this precedent could mean for the future.

the game has gone from fun and kinda magical to a pay to win money grab it's so ridiculous
At the end of the day, the more they squeeze out of serious players, the more free it is for casual players.

Agreed! This is literally the THIRD video I've watched on this new update, now (only the third cause I've been trying to figure most of it all out, on my own), but this actually clears up pretty much ALL other questions I had about the update! I think I FINALLY have an actually decent understanding of what to expect, moving forward, now.
Not just businesses, my park had one. It was on a location that is a portal in ingress, but not a stop/gym in Pokemon.

Yeah, i have noticed a bunch waystops that arent in Pokémon GO now being power spots. Maybe its worth submitting a swingset that really close to my house that i know is just way to close to another gym to show up.
Two of the nearby spots for me are skateparks/basketball hoops, and another is a church iirc

Same, a POI I submitted and waa accepted, but wasn't in POGO, but was in ingress, now it'a a Max Spot
You actually get 100 MP from each Power Spot, but there is a 20 MP bonus if you've never claimed MP from that Power Spot before.
Most of them are businesses, but some are obviously proposed Pokéstops that failed. There is a particular mushroom-shaped slide in my local park that is a Power Spot.

You don’t need to spin these stops, you can just enter and leave and it auto collect. As long as you’re near them of course.
This annoyed me when I was just trying to grab 20 and push three research.
My favorite part about this is when the Special Research bugged and reset; essentially barring me from completing this Research…☠️☠️☠️

I saw a power spot at a park by my house and it was noted as a picnic table. There was definitely no business in the park…unless it was illegal
It seems they are using some rejected pokestop submissions as power spots which is pretty neat

Getting XL candy is the tough part. You have to catch a lot of the same Pokemon.

2 of my previously rejected pokestops submissions have been power points.
You should use the particles to unlock the heal and guard at least, becuase it you dont and wait, youll be missing out on thousands of particles until the battles start on the 10th

The max particles are easy enough to come by but to train a dynamax Pokemon costs A LOT of candies and XLcandies.
I don't know about you all but I don't have a ton of Wooloo candy let alone XL candy.

I’m gonna try to develop my wooloo as much as I can. it seems like a lot of people are not going to and they are gonna suck at the dynamax battles so those of us who take the few days before the battles start are gonna be carrying you fools

Pokemons Max Strike type is based on fast attack type, Dubwool with double kick gets max knuckle
Greedent gets access to mudshot and bulletseed so it can do super effective damage against both squirtle and charmander when they arrive on tier 1 max raids/battles

It sucks that it seems like our already existing, dynamax eligible pokemon we have in our storage cannot be dynamaxed and the ones from max battles are the only ones that can

There should be asomething in the item bag, possibly in the Key Items section, showing our total amount of MP, like the zygarde cube
Just look at the power spot tab on your nearby window, it's shown on the top left. Two taps to view, no scrolling required.

A lucky does not help with dynamax. No reduced cost for max particles or candy for upgrading moves.
Just basic reduced cost to level.

2:30 - indeed, correct. I have a neighbor in the cul-de-sac next to me that has a home garage door install-based business and there's been a max power spawn since it went live. Hasn't left yet which is interesting.
I've seen Power Spots spawn at local business in my neighborhood like you were talking about, but I've also seen them spawn at Niantic Waypoints that didn't become pokestops.
7:50 now I want dynamax Mons to be max when buddied. I know it makes no sense but being followed by a kaiju everywhere would be hilarious

One thing to note is that the Max move doesn't match the pokemon's type. It matches the type of the pokemon's fast move. TMing also doesn't reset the level if you've upgraded
after playing Monster Hunter Now(also made by Niantic), I'm surprised there's still only the remote raid pass in terms of global matchmaking in Pokemon Go.
I have nobody to play Pokemon Go(or MHN) where I live, so I'm really glad MHN has random field monsters and raids(free every 3h) with global matchmaking(with random players).
I kinda want to play a bit of Pokemon Go to try out these dynamax raids, so I hope they're solo-able.

"not based on POI that have been submitted" This is incorrect. I submitted a POI years ago but it was too close to another POI to spawn a stop in PoGo, but it did spawn a portal in ingress. That POI is now a power spot. The majority of power spots I've observed are submitted POIs that have always shown up as portals in ingress. I do agree some appear to be local businesses that are not submitted POIs
Niantic seriously need to just make things easier and simpler, i even had to 2x this video just because of the sheer amount of info needed to be said
The game reset my research for this. I collected from 3 PS I collected over 800 MP. I couldn’t collect my walking PS. This morning it was reset to nothing achieved.
Same with me, I’ve collected the max amount I can hold per account and now it reset and I can’t complete it

Thanks for the tips - other videos I saw weren't explaining this much detail. And can confirm we're seeing power spots at some home businesses in my neighborhood.
I don't think it's just businesses. I have one near me that is a Pokestop submission I made that didn't make it in the game because of cell placement.
Yeah, and I think submissions that almost passed can also be power spots as well. A local restaurant near me is a power spot, but it got denied about 5 times before I gave up.

yeah, a lot of the ones in my area are portals in Ingress that can't be in PoGO because of cells.

i got a power spot from my home aswell due to my mom owning a business registered at home. all the others are on other businesses, except one at a bus stop
Bus stop is probably included as a business location for the city or private company.

Businesses and POIs in Niantic's database which are no PokéStops or gyms (due to their S2 cell logic). Quite nice to see them have a purpose now in PoGo, too.

I don't like that they are around for like 2 days, then a dynamax Pokémon spawns for a few hours then disappears, my schedule is pretty busy in the day so I'm not able to do these, its pretty frustrating to see a feature released and made only for the people who have all the free time to do these things
They rotate and will be here forever. You dont need to play all day. You can do a bit each day.
There will be others around. You don't need to get them all
8:25 You can't transfer it. Game will always make you keep one Dynamax Pokémon, because it's a closed loop and you always need to have one in your bag.

the funniest two power spots i have seen to date, middle of an old persons home, middle of a high security prison. cannot wait to get one in the middle of a military base. "Please sir, I just want to drive on to the runway to catch a flying pokemon".
I've followed all the news about all this and was still confused by everything. This video certainly helped to just put everything clearly.
This bit of the game just sounds so dang convoluted and complicated for no real reason other than hoping people spend money on stuff.
Was quite lucky with my first Max Wooloo - got the Hundo 302 CP!! Have already evolved and leveled to 40, and now trying to earn enough candy XL to get him to 50. Appreciate the video and glad to see your content coming back.

TL;DR:
-Get 300 MP reward from walking 2km at any time
-Collect ONLY 480 MP from 4 DynaMax stops
-Get 300MP reward from walking 2km AFTER previous steps
...
-Spend MP (and lots of candies) on DynaMax skills daily
-OR- hodl MP until Sep 10 and see how all this actually works(when Nick explains it in his next video)

I always keep the ball on the farthest side. left or right. Spin it up and toss it straight. Works every time.

I like the mp instead of raid passes because you will be able to do low cost dynamad raids and not be penalized for doing one star raids

The Max Strike is actually based on the Pokemon's fast attack's type. Also each Power Spot would usually gives 100 MP. The 20 is a bonus for your first visit, similar to the bonus exp from spinning a new pokestop.
Dynamax AR absolutely needs to be implemented. Lemme see wooloo rolling across a highway 🤣

FYI some places where the power spots are spawning are POI where a wayfarer has nominated 2 POIs in the same s2 cell. Some of my personal wayfarer noms are now powerspots.
Also, for the special research mission where you have to upgrade a Max move, it HAS to be the max strike move. The max guard or healing move won’t work for the mission.
There's a small mistake, the power spots don't always give 120 particles, if you have already collected particles at that spot it's only 100. I don't know if it resets when it changes and comes back another time though.

1:55 Some of them definitely are POI locations. We had one locally at a statue in a park (park is tiny with 3 pokestops and a gym already). So they are likely POIs they were accepted but not put into the game previously.
But most are businesses, even businesses that are belly up.

Needing to construct it from the get go is less than stellar, though at least you can make it into whatever you want from the studs up/forwards (hopefully without having to worry about an inspector telling you to do over the same thing for an -enth time).

my dynamax wooloo catch froze after wooloo landed... not the entire game, just the screen was just wooloo standing there and nothing was happening, luckily it gave it to me after i restarted like i caught it :D

There’s a small community park behind my house and one spawned there, no businesses around. They named it after the volley ball net.

they appear not only at businesses; there's an old cemetery park in my area that has 3 power spots :) one died off in the morning and another appeared it keeps staying at 3 there; the spots are named after monuments just as the stops ad gyms there

Power spots are located at points of interest that were accepted but weren't turned into Pokestops. I've got one near me that I personally submitted and was approved, but it never showed up as a Pokestop.
I got a hundo dynamax wooloo off the special research. Pretty pumped after I had gotten a 2* dynamax wooloo.

By me one is a park, a food pantry at a church and memorial rock at fire station.
However, a lot are businesses for sure.
I see them all over my neighbourhood at residential address as you said probably home businesses. However I saw one at a park down the street, so I think it's not just businesses.

Plus to walk and get particles I'm pretty sure because the storage has a limit of a 1000 you can't claim it until you waste more particles... That's the negative feedback of this new feature is people hate the storage limit they think it's stupid and then on top of that there's a certain limit of how many power stations you can go to per day which is 6 per day or 8 per day....

Here in Europe power spots are in places from other Niantic games. I submitted few Pokestops and they were accepted but they wrote that "we have more games and it doesn't mean that this will appear as Pokestop, it might be used in other games". So power spots around my house are those old Pokestops that i submitted but weren't used in PoGo.
I've had a couple wayspots approved in the past that ended up not used as pokéstops or gyms in Pokémon GO.
But now I have seen them used as powerspots, so not just businesses. At least in my area.
