I bought and read both of Dougs books while on a European vacation back in 2018. Can confirm Doug is a great writer.
I read Doug's articles on TTAC before I ever watched a video of his. Was so psyched to find him on RUclips around 2015 or 2016
I miss these quirky old videos. I know they don't get the views that normal car reviews get, but the Nissan Cube and S-Cargo videos were classics.

Doug’s writing in the Jalopnik days were top tier, no joke.
I’m so glad someone pointed out how great his writing is. Dougs writings were the reason I loved Jalopnik. I remember thinking how the RUclips stuff was funny but awkward which was the charm haha, hopefully we’ll see dougs writing come back in some shape either through cars and bids or a new venture.
I miss those old jalopnik reviews. Nowadays jalopnik is all about politics and hit pieces on Elon musk

The Lexus LC500 review was the first vid I saw of Doug, and it thankfully reignited my love of cars. The fact he was showing these weird little quirks about the interior of the car really got me going.
What a coincidence. Lately youtube has been recommending alot of 7 to 10 year old doug vids😂 particularly the ones from when he owned the ferrari and would do random vids with it.

I enjoyed old Doug videos. I get more people like his current style but i got hooked on the old stuff
I was at NYU at this time (though probably working, as it was the summer). Disappointed I missed Doug's hummer terrorizing campus. Funny that he was actually in front of the athletic facility (RIP Coles) while cheering for the lampshades. Lampshades actually would've made more sense than being the "Violets" with a Bobcat as the mascot.

Funny how you brought up your writings on Jalopnik. You were the only author on Jalopnik that I read in highschool (2014-ish). Then YEARS later I found your RUclips channel and I was like "Doug??? Like, the Jalopnik guy??? Volvo V70R in Brown with a manual???"
I started watching Doug's videos during the Philly era. I had just moved there recently and it was always funny to be driving around and suddenly recognize a site I had seen in one of his videos. I remember once he filmed in a stadium parking lot in Springfield, and another time I recognized the campus of Bryn Athyn. The Wal-Mart where he filmed Filipo's Spectra was where I bought some of the furniture for my student apartment when I first moved there.
I've been following since the KIA video. It's was the first one I saw. Hilarious! Doug is the reason why I got RUclips' premium thing...

14:43 - I once saw a couple get a St Bernard into the back bench of an F430 spyder. Doggo couldn't move around much but he certainly enjoyed the sunshine and attention people were giving him.

I live literally 45 minutes up the road from all of the "New Hampshire Beach Communities" and know of pretty much every single H1 in New England - yet I've NEVER seen Doug's H1.
