schoolbook _depository isn’t the fact that it’s actually called a haxdash and therefore forever associated with Hax’s falcon more relevant in this particular instance than however he actually was the first player to ever perform it? The OP comment wouldn’t have been as concise if it read “I wonder how a now 35 years old, wildly obscure Japanese ex-dr Mario player feels when a Falcon does perfect haxdashes vs Hax in tournament”, imo.

Much longer startup than up air, if the opponent can jump out and make you whiff the knee it reverses the advantage

ChamplooMusashi sure but common. In alot of those situations it would of finished off the stock rather than another up air and then they di and just come back. Its annoying.

I'd say DI mixups to build percent. N0ne does it a lot of with reverse soft hit bairs to extend into either nair or knee. If the opponent is anticipating knee, they may DI properly and live at higher percents. I imagine it's similar to dealing with any character. Against IC's, you avoid grabs. Against Marth, Fsmash. Against Fox, shine/usmash, etc. Everyone knows they'll likely lose a stock to a knee at mid/high percents, so they do what they can to avoid it. As the Falcon, you should be aware of this, and create other openings for yourself. "Optimal" choices aren't always optimal.
Plus it looks cooler and I appreciate it as a spectator.
