@@rayzorium Not a Falcon main but after the empty hop I'm counting 7 frames in AC landing lag, one frame of turnaround, one frame of jump squat, then his grab (frame perfect execution after landing lag.) Could be counting wrong but that frame looks like turnaround to me, not dashback.
It looks insane. My theory is that he intentionally does a dash dance normal running grab (instead of jump grab) to extend the grab box behind his character model
At 15:23 when I was watching this live, I just thought "Oh man... this is over for my boy Wizzy. Hbox has too much momentum with this 3 to 1 stock lead." The fact that Wizzy was able to take that game and then the set and then the TOURNAMENT friggin blew my mind. As a huge Wizzy fan, seeing this made my week!
yeah i was there and people literally got up and started leaving and a dude leaned over and said "watch wizzy bring this back". Sure enough they came walking back over and sat back down lmao
honestly and truthfully one of the best falcon jiggly sets i’ve ever seen. You can literally see fear from both of them in their approaches (and lack thereof) up until wizzy decided he needed to rush him and hbox just couldn’t find a way out. Pivot grab to end the set at the end was insane work though…
wizzy and company have advanced the falcon v puff meta so much not only is the MU winnable but its so interesting. the crouch into punish counterplay, the optimal rest punishes, the stage choice - they're so far beyond what we consider meta for their characters its insane. i hope we see these two meet again soon with more crazy shit
I think Hbox kinda gave up tbh. There are three fast fallers in the game. Fox, Falco, and Captain. Captain is the heaviest of this trio so killing him off the top is extremely hard because he begins to fall down very quickly preventing rest from securing stocks. You CANNOT rest him at low percents and that also extends to fox and falco on large stages. Low percent rest on dream stages (FOD/DL) will always lead to reversals from these characters, who also happen to be very hard hitting. Ggs tho. Great set. I enjoy both these competitors and I look forward to more.
@@marquistf1996 you see what you want tbh i think he just missed a gamble and it didn't turn out. if wizzy hadn't gotten the optimal punish he might have lived and turned it around, and also if he caught bad DI from wizzy (somehow) then wizzy just dies there
@@ChamplooMusashi I don’t think the sets we see support your ideas tbh. Wizzrobe KNEW the rest was coming. A jab reset wasn’t gonna lead into anything else. There is no way Hbox would have gotten good di here. But even if he did it’s still a good chance wizzy lives. Wizzy had been getting the optimal punishes the entire set. It wasn’t reasonable to think he wouldn’t get it here as well. That’s why I say he kinda gave up here because he wasn’t gonna be able to win that way yet he did it anyway at the cost of his last stock and the tournament. Hbox has done this in previous sets before. Last stock his gameplay decisions get significantly worse and you can clearly see he’s been demoralized. Not always. Sometimes he loses and clearly he’s doing his best but many times he’s clearly out of it and just going through the motions.
He was asked on stream and he just said it was completely by accident lol which I guess isn't surprising but he didn't really ellaborate on what he was trying to do when it happened. Given that falcon doesnt really use the b button for much other than recovering or a raptor boost so idk if he meant to use a different b move or hitting the button was an accident twice somehow
We are once again reminded of 3 things: Wizzy is Hungrybox's true nemesis with his patience and punishes, Wizzy is still a legend, and that Falcon up air is BROKEN. I think this matchup would be a complete wash if he didn't have that move.
@@Sti.10 I think they're about even. Both have crazy punishes and are able to space each other really effectively in the complete opposite ways, falcon on the ground and puff in the air. I actually really like playing and watching this matchup.
Shout out to todd from pokemon winning the tournament. Finally put down the camera for the sticks. Lol. For real though, wizrobe, you're a beast and its so good to see one of the Falcon boys back on top.
Wow Wizzy tech rolled in every single time he got knocked onto a side platform, surprised he only got rested a few times for it. also that final rest punish was so clean, incredibly smart to run through and get the turnaround grab for the kill
It seems like Wizzy has the most solid gameplan against Puff out of all of the Falcons. The defense is just insane. He mixes up roll timings and dashes extremely well. Also, the single jab --> grab was netting him a lot throughout the set despite getting rested for it a few times. I struggle with the matchup as Falcon but I think I just play it wrong and don't use Falcon's strengths. Wizzy made it look like Falcon destroys Puff. If you prioritize your defense and go extremely hard when you get an opportunity to punish, Falcon seems unstoppable. I think you just have to accept that you can get rested or easily edgeguarded at any time. It's just a part of the matchup. GGs, can't wait to see these two play again.
I assumed the first was an accident, but then he did it again. It seems so out of character for him to do something like that to showboat, especially when it’s game 5 and he’s facing elimination. I still think they were both tech flubs, but it seems very weird to accidentally press the B button twice in such a short period of time. Fortunately for him, it didn’t cost him the tournament
Glad Wizzy still holding it down for us Captain Falcon mains. showing he's still viable in tourney, even if the bracket lacked Zain, Cody, and Mango. Good shit.
