Those kitties are the cutest. I have three and adore them. Gentle, never anything but pleasant. You have an amazing tank and it's super cool how much you appreciate them, too. When you called them stunningly beautiful or whatever... I knew I had to write. You're not kidding. They are so cute... and such a nice animal. Wishing you the very best with them. Mine had ich after I got them, and I was able to save all three with Kordon Rid-Ich. Thank God, too. Take care. Dave
Hi Dan, I live in Alberta Canada, so I have very hard water they love it. Oh and $ 30 is Canadian. Very hard to find here. I had to drive 2 hours to find mine. I was not even sure if I had a male and female, just one night I was doing my water change and Bam there they were.
Petricola Catfish look like little sharks. I like to get 6 of them. 3 males and 3 females. I'm not sure if that is the right thing to do. Please let me know.
Wonderful footage. I know this was a few years ago but did you find the synodontis catfish ever bothered the Rams? I'm looking at the compatibility for a 45 g. Did you keep them all in soft water?
Have a question 🙋♂️ I have a 20 long with 2 Bolivian rams one blue ram and 6 headlight tetras and one zebra loach can the dwarf catfish live in this tank heavily planted with caves and driftwood and sponge filters. Also I keep my water at 80 since blue rams need warmer water. Forgot to include 3 black tetras too.
That might be a bit crowded and the tank is a little small. The loach may not get along with the catfish either. I'd say proceed with caution, and a back-up plan if it doesn't work.
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly what about a 20 high gallon I have 4 female guppies and 2 males and two crown take females and one panda garra and two small angelfish that I will move eventually to my 75 gallon.
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly ok thanks man reason why I ask is because my bristlesnose are kinda aggressive when it comes to feeding. In my 75 I have 4 angelfish and 5 rainbow fish and 1 paradise gourami my angelfish are pretty friendly but the plecos can be mean .
Don't ask. Lol. If you look at my Not Necessarily a "How To" playlist, you'll see why I say that. I've done crazy stuff with my well water. 7.3pH - GH 0 - KH 3 TDS about 400ppm Temp at 75F (water is too soft though) Seriously, if you find water chemistry interesting, check out my water system videos.
Did you see how many they had already? The African side (8.2pH) had at least 30 or 40, and the tank I got mine from had 50 or more last week. But is down to a dozen or so. They must be popular. No wonder.
they are a cuckoo breeding type fish....you have to read u p more on it but basically they lay their eggs so other mouthbrooders pick it up and raise them

Love the Petricola.
Thanks. I can't stop looking at them!
Great aquarium have one also 6 inch in 90 gal with tiger barbs school all good stays inside drift wood...
Nice. mine just had a bunch of fry. I love these guys.
I do too. I got up to 8, but I lost7 in a mistake with RO water. I still have one though.

I am still learning on how to breed them, so if you have any ideas please pass them on. The fry hide and are hard to pick out of my tank.
Bosco Hemi I wish I could help.
DW_Aquatics any experience breeding Syno. Petricola?
setting up the marbles and stuff just seems like a pain in the azz. Just my opinion

The petricola (lucipinis) can tolerate softer water, and I never noticed any aggression from them.
Hi, what was the red finned black fish that was in there please? And also the angel with the pink tips on its fins?
Rainbow shark and I had a Turquoise Angelfish and a mixed veil.
Hi how much for one? They look so cool 😎

Can the catfish live with cherry or amano shrimp? Will they eat them?
I'm going to say better safe than sorry. I don't know for sure, but most catfish will eat anything they can.
The price of these now at my local fish store is $ 44.00 very small fry.
I paid $30 each, but I bought 8 originally (bulk Dicount)
(I lost 7 in a disasterous mistake)
yes, my point is the price in one year has gone crazy. Curious what was your mistake Dan.

@@anthonym6202 I'd go with the 75. There's lots of room in there.

What kind of rocks are those? I would like to add something similar to my tank.
Just rocks I found. I'm not onto rocks enough to know what kind they are. They are non-reactive with vinegar though, so my pH isn't affected.
Thoose would be quartz

Ok sry I'll look at those
FortWayne FishTanks Watch the "While I Talk Chem... video first. And Nitrates in my well water 2nd. It'll make more sense that way.
Hi Dan , Do they it plants ?
Maybe a little, but I've never really noticed.
Gotta setup a breeding tank for them
Don't encourage me to set up any more tanks! 14 is enough.
lolll take down 5 of them and setup 2 breeding tansk with 3 growouts and flood the are with perticolas

Yeah, I saw that. Pretty neat. More complicated than I'm interested in right now.
I know a guy who breeds Chocolate Zebra Plecos.
They are hard to find where I live. When you do find them the cost is $30
I paid $30 a piece.
