That Royal Guard should have responded, immediately, when the guy began to behave erratically - ordering him to get out of the ‘box’ and alerting the MOD Police to come over, straight away! If the guy was on either drugs or alcohol, he was a potentially serious threat to the horse - and other visitors, nearby! The same trooper did absolutely nothing to challenge other visitors, who, quite blatantly, chose to step into the ‘box’ area to pose for their photos! They were openly contemptuous of the new rules and of the trooper, too! The ‘Royal Guards’ senior Officers should get a grip of this problem fast! All troopers should be instructed to take immediate action re. any such transgression - given that any visitor gaining close proximity to the horses could endanger their welfare - far too quickly for the MOD Police to arrive and intervene ( especially when those officers are, often, engaged in the observation, or arrest, of unruly visitors within ‘Horseguards’, itself)! Anyone entering the ‘Box’ should be treated as ‘suspicious’ ( even when that person appears to be, simply, stupid…)! A ‘routine’ hard-line response from both the troopers and the Police would signal, very fast, to all visitors, that the security of ‘Horseguards’, the troopers and their horses is of paramount importance - and that ‘stupidity’ offers no excuse! Handcuff everyone who steps into the ‘Box’, remove them from the scene and then question them as ‘suspicious’ characters - the message that their behaviour is absolutely intolerable would, very quickly, be communicated, via ‘Social Media’ and, almost certainly, the troopers and their horses would be able to perform their duties, unmolested! The current ‘Softly, softly’ response by both the Army and the Police is interpreted by far too many visitors as ‘weak’ and ‘inconsistent! That must change! The ‘scruffy’:MOD Police Officer made a fundamental error in allowing the drunken/substance abuser to ‘move’ him backwards when ‘face to face’…! The second officer did the correct thing - by standing his ground - and pushing the guy backwards when he attempted 🎉🎉to intimidate them both! No hooligan can be allowed to threaten either the Police or the troopers at ‘Horseguards!’ He should have been handcuffed, immediately and arrested! Our capital city, London, is becoming even more lawless, day by day - with thefts, stabbings and shootings increasing - to the huge alarm and horror of residents and tourists, alike! We need to ‘arm’ all of our Police Officers in London and in other cities - and they have to be ready to use those weapons ( tasers, initially - but able to threaten with their guns, if required…as in the USA)! Why should we residents and innocent visitors, along with those troopers and their horses, have to suffer the appalling behaviour of so many ignorant, deliberately aggressive people whose total selfishness and stupidity threatens the peace and security of us all…?
