- This is actually a reverse teardown. I put this bluetooth speaker back together. That's more important than to see how it is taken apart.
This is taking almost 50 minutes, because if you want to change the battery, you have to take it all the way.
Overall this is a well built speaker.
The battery label spells the following:
Great Power Energy&Technology Co.,LTD
Model No. GSP0931134 01
Rating: 7.4V 10000mAh
74.0 Wh Lithium Polymer
Made in China
I did measure the dimensions of the battery with
150 length x 70 width x 23 mm thickness
Not sure if it is possible to squeeze in a bunch of Li-Ion batteries.
That would be a more difficult modification.
I couldn't find many teardown videos for this on RUclips. Make sure you watch this video before you attempt to open your own Boombox.

I replaced the battery and then pulled mine apart and put back together twice before finding your video.
I had a couple of ribbons around the wrong way. I thought i would need to buy a new speaker. Your video saved me hundreds of dollars. Thank you again sir.

My boombox is almost 1.5 years old. The battery is so damm bad. This helped so much! Thanks! You don't need to buy a new boombox when you just can replace the battery with a new one.

For everyone information
You can use 2 jbl extreme battery’s that you can buy on eBay or amazon and cut the connector off of the old battery and splice it in with the 2 extreme battery’s
On the connector that goes to the motherboard it has a white and green wire they go to the white wires on each of the battery packs

Hi, my charger indicator is stuck on the middle. I plug it in and shows a blue light but does. Or blink. The speaker works fine but its just stuck and i dont know if it will die on me one of these days. Has this happen to you or anyone here?
Do you know if 2018 JACK PCB and 2019 JACK PCB are the same for this speaker? I can’t find any information nor schematics for that PCB. OLDER PCBs were green. Since 2019 they started making it blue but I’m not sure if they’re backwards compatible. Thanks!

Hello,im about to change the battery and this is a very helpful video but i was thinking of getting a higher capacity battery,is that alright or i should stick to the manufacturer's specs?!
The charge time will be longer, but other than that it should be ok.

No, i think 18650 are too big for that!
Yes you can. JBL Boombox PL has 20.000 mAh battery, but JBL Boombox ND has 10.000 mAh, because ND is less power hungry.
You can use that battery.

I asked JBL support what’s up with the battery being 50% smaller than advertised and this is the answer that I got. ”The physical battery in Boombox has a capacity of 10.000mAh @7.4V. This is the charged battery storage. When outputting ( so power from the battery is drawn ), it's using 3.7V, half the storage voltage, which will give you 74Wh - equivalent to a 20.000mAh battery with power stored at 3.7V. Therefore, you need a 10.000mah battery, rather than a 20.000mah.”

@@mygiguser Pretty good video it does make sense! Do you think it would be possible to buy 10 000mah boombox battery and add it to the existing one? Would it charge normally and would the charge indicator still work? I think it should work in theory but it would suck to break an expensive speaker :D

JOACHIM boombox for sure has more power, more bass, is just twice the size of the xtreme.

why is that a 10,000 mh battery? is it possible to find the oem 20,000 mh battery?
there is no OEM 20,000mAh battery, it always was only 10,000mAh. In the commercials is says equivalent to 20,000mAh, that doesn't mean it is 20,000mAh. In reality it is only 10,000mAh
@@mygiguser specs everywhere say its 20k, there really is only a 10k battery in a new boombox? always wondered why I couldnt find 1 for sale. do other models do that too? the jbl extreme spec says it shipped with a 10k batt but it has way less playtime then boombox at high volume, thx for the reply
According to the JBL website specs on this that battery should be 20,000mah. Especially if you bought this from JBL directly.

Working on a friends Boombox. I got it apart just like the video and removed the battery. I want to prove that the battery is really bad before ordering a new one. Does anyone know what the voltages should be out of the 8 pin connector that goes to the battery? I get 0v from the red to the black wires.

Just search on Amazon for "Battery GSP0931134 01", and you'll find several options. I am not affiliated with any battery seller, usually i get them from Cameron Sino, i have good experiences with them. Also on Ebay you get oftentimes a better price.

because if you buy a 10000 mah battery it is not original and if you go to the store and buy a jbl boombox and it has 20000mah, it's original
