I think you are the one I've been trying to find. I have an Acer Aspire 5349-2635 Laptop/Notebook. This is literally the closest to my model that I've been able to find a tutorial on. So thank you.

For those of you who are unable to see through his hands, you want to remove the screws marked "DOOR - M2x8"

I'm very tired of using computer "experts" to do simple jobs, only to find out after that they have done damage and left screws out or lost rubber feet. I used this video to upgrade. PERFECT. Thank you.

Bought my D255 N450 new a couple of years ago. It came with Windows Starter and Android. Very ordinary performance so loaded Lint Mint and performance improved out of sight. Recently upgraded to Linux Mint 17 Xfce which is designed for lower powered computers and it howls and does everything ... Who needs Windows :)

Who needs Windows? The gaming community, and just about everyone else! I wouldn't touch Linux with a 100 ft. dick.

Shoulda been more specific ... linux does everything I need. If I wanted to play childish games I'd buy a playstation or Xbox. Amazing how the people who have alternate opinions love playing with their dicks :) Probably get another smutty reply now. This was a good video it helped a lot.

thanks for your help - finally got the courage to do this.
almost gave up when I had a hard time getting the keyboard out but it all worked out fine.
I was quoted 80 dollars to do this by a pc shop - it finally cost me about 20 -with zero for labour - thanks again. the notebook is old but now has windows 10 and is a useful little device to have around

I found this video very useful in updating my wife's Acer Aspire One D255-2934, Atom N450 - thank you sseiyah!
    - Used Crucial 2GB Single DDR2 800MHz (PC2-6400) CL6 SODIMM 200-Pin Notebook Memory Module CT25664AC800
    - The keys associated with the keyboard tabs are slightly different than for D255E
    - The 4 screws holding the bottom cover on are labeled "(0) DOOR"
    - To see the Setup Utility, tap on the F2 key immediately after powering up. Use right cursor to switch to "Main" tab to see the 2 GB (2048 MB) of new RAM, then switch to Exit tab to boot up
    - Erik

This is far the best instruction video I have seen on Acer Aspire one Netbook. One note only: mine is D257-13404 and it has 5 screws and they all are marked "Door". The bottom plate came out only when I try from the side of the panel, as mine has no round hole. Thank you very much.

There are many videos here on this subject and it's well worth looking at a few of them, before trying this at home. This is the video that I bookmarked and used, because of the plain English and easy instruction.
I'm no stranger to working on desktops, but I'm always nervous about Laptops because they tend to be so delicate to work within.
This video inspires confidence in the task and I completed it, in around 15 minutes.
My Acer One is from the year 2009 and was bought in the UK from PC World. It's the dual Boot Windows XP Home edition and Android, model D255 - 2BQkk This is probably a model/version unique to PC World, because they have a habit of trimming off any extras possible, in order to maximize their profit, or sell something at low budget price.
With the paltry 1 gb of RAM, it has always been extremely slow from day one. I've hardly ever used it, mainly because I purchased a Samsung Tab 2 soon after acquiring the Acer and it suited my needs far more in the area of day to day web browsing.
After the upgrade, the improvement in performance is immediately noticeable, with a faster boot up time and web page loading.
Just worth mentioning that my new RAM didn't cost $20. It only cost £4.56p from Hong Kong on eBay. A genuine "Crucial" unit and a real bargain.
Again, big thanks for this very helpful video, I look forward to seeing the one about the Hard Drive upgrade.

    3. Test the memory first before putting everything back together! Just put the battery in and see if it boots to BIOS. I was *too* gentle with the memory and hadn't seated it properly!

Ignore the guy who suggests using the hole in the back to push out the keyboard. It is directly under the F4 key which is now ruined. The trick seems to be to use good light to find the clips behind F4 and F8. I used tweezers to push the clips back. There is a fourth clip on mine. Apart from damaged key, 2G upgrade works great!

I have the latest version (the D270 26Dkk) and there's a few differences:
    1. on the keyboard there are two more clips on the sides (tab and enter keys). Use the card to force them up. need a bit of force.
    2. There is a FIFTH screw, right next to where he has a round hole (on the dkk it is a square plastic tag with door release on it). Unscrew that first, then simply push down on the door release. It is NOT a latch.

I saw this and was trying to repeat it with what I assume is a much earlier model.. the NAV50 of Acer Aspire One. The memory is under the smaller removable panel on the underside. It was one screw and then you pry the panel out. The panel pop-out seemed difficult.. so I thought it might be held from the other side.. that's why I found this video. Easy-peasy.. as it was, I suspected something was wrong when he talked about the 4 screws under the keyboard and mine had many more than that. Totally my error.. this was a good tutorial.. if I had had the correct model. Lubuntu does seem to be a bit snappier with 2GB. I used a $25 GSkill SODIMM from newegg. F2-5300CL5S-2GBSK

Great job. V cool & reassuring technique. V important to display the fingers maintaining pressure at certain points of the plastic housing while pushing in tabs; then using plastic card to release the right side of the keyboard. My board got slightly twisted (I didn't check out your video tutorial before); also, the tabs remained stuck. I had to cut out minute rectangles from a plastic card to sub as tabs after slotting back in the board. Not pretty, but the pc is runnning.

I think those who tried to do the same and said it didn't work (Track 5:20) is because they inserted a memory card (RAM) that has a different "Frequency" with their netbook's memory, which I think you have missed to mention buddy. Most netbooks especially those that comes with a 1 Gig of Ram normally has a 533Mhz or 800 Mhz Frequency. So if you purchase a RAM chip for them, make sure that they are DDR2 (PC2 on the RAM chip sticker) and has the 533 or 800 numbers on them, which cab be seen on the RAM's chip sticker.

the issue with 1gb of ram on this, is exactly as you said, for starters windows 7 min requirement for ram is 1gb, so that being said anything extra along with the OS would cause some bog down, and lets not forget the Video ram is shared at 250MB from your system ram
