    If I understand correctly, I can have a “wired” router connected to my modem, and then hard wire one or more WAP’s throughout my house and basement and garage for “wireless” connectivity. If that is correct then I will need to run Cat6 cable to each WAP location. How are ceiling WAP’s powered? 110v or via the Cat6 cable? And if via the Cat6 cable does the router need to be the POE type?
    Thanks! Very helpful network information.

    When we have multiple WAP devices does your mobile phone automatically switches seamlessly between the WAP’s when you are moving across the house to the nearest WAP as seamlessly as in mesh network?

    • @UltimateTechHub
      @UltimateTechHub  4 месяца назад

      If your APs are set in Mesh mode then yes that will happen. If it's not set to mesh mode then it won't connect like that.

    Great video that helps a lot! A couple questions; I have a building (workshop) aprox 300 feet (a lot of oak trees but I could achieve line of sight if required) from my house that I want to get our wifi access from the house to. 1. Can I get just about any type WAP (probably Netgear like the router), set it up at the house with my laptop, then install it anywhere inside the workshop?

    • @UltimateTechHub
      @UltimateTechHub  Год назад

      The WAP needs to be connected VIA an Ethernet cable ( Cat5e or Cat6 ) to your router or PoE switch. I recommend using PoE to power your WAP because its more efficient and no power adapter is needed. So you will need a PoE managed switch like an 8-port TP-Link or 8-Port Netgear. I always get 8-Ports for future-proofing. To get a WAP installed wirelessly in your workshop you will need 2 WAPs. 1 WAP in your house as close to the line of sight to the shop. 2nd WAP in the workshop as close to the line of sight to the first WAP. This is called a MESH Network. It's recommended to use the exact same WAP brand and type for both WAPs because they will work perfectly together. Second option: is you could run Cat5e in weather-proof conduit from the house to the work shop and connect the WAP that way. Hope this helps and keep me posted. 😀

    Hey Guys, great 101 video. So Question... My WAP setup through netgear recommended I change the SSID to prevent "interference" from router settings... But I want a professional style network that allows for seamless transitions from Router, to WAP1, to WAP2(outside) and back again. Thoughts?

    • @UltimateTechHub
      @UltimateTechHub  2 года назад +1

      You could name all the routers SSIDs the same name. Use the same password and security settings for that seamless transition between routers. However if one router gets hacked they all get hacked. That is the downside. Also this works best if all the routers are the same brand and or model. Keep me posted and thanks for watching.

    I am getting ready to setup my daughters network in her new two story house. so She has a main route that will receive the coaxl signal for the outside world. Then I was planning on running a cable off that to a control panel (homerun box) to a switch and then to a patch panel. So I wanted to add two WAPs off the swithc (poe switch). Question is do I give them all the same SSID on the waps and the router that has wifi built in? Hope this is clear...thank You .

    • @UltimateTechHub
      @UltimateTechHub  2 года назад

      From the control panel the coax has to connect to a modem then router then switch. You can add as many WAPs as you want and you can name them the same SSID with the same password so it's a seamless transition between WAPs. Hope this helps.
