Anyone watching this, beware. You should NEVER set the date first on any mechanical watch. If the time is between the hours of about 9pm and 2am and you set the date, you can damage the movement. This is basic mechanical watch knowledge. First set the time and make sure you're not in the 'danger zone' before setting the date!
if it's 1 day behind, is it ok to change the date by letting the movement set it by itself by manually making the hour-hand turn clockwise that complete day? the watch was at 10am of the 23rd and I just did a full 24 cycle until 7:45 pm of the 24th without ever moving the date myself.
How did you possibly know that the time you were setting is AM or PM? It has to be correct or the watch will not accurately adjust the date at midnight.
Hi, I Bought one Last month from a Pawn Shop Jewellers & Could You Please Let me Know if the date does Not Change is Because I Don’t wear it Everyday? Thanks
I don't own a Date Just, but I do own a Deep Sea-Sea Dweller. My question is, are the links on the Date Just hollow bc they sure sound like it or is it just me? I would hate to know that they're hollow on such an expensive timepiece. I have solid links on my Deep Sea-Sea Dweller. Can someone help me out with this?
If it's an automatic watch then just wearing it should be sufficient to get the rotor moving enough to start it back up. Or like my dad taught me, just give it a few shakes ;)
Wrong way to do it !! You need to set up the time first !! 🤦🏻♂️ because you have to know if the time is am or pm...if you change the date to 15 and the time to 8:45am but it’s 8:45pm, then the watch won’t change the date at 12
You have to pull the crown to the further position and make sure that you are not in the "danger" zone before changing date..... You will damage the date wheel!
I am a proud owner of the same watch but I have a question. The watch has not been worn in years, I have wound the watch about 50 turns and it still doesn't not tick. Any thoughts?
You are completely wrong. Never set the date first. Wind watch. Set date to yesterday. Then turn the hours till the date gets to correct todays date. Then set the time to am or pm ensuring you have gone past midday 12 noon if current time is pm.
What if the watch is showing 9pm, how do you set to yesterday’s date without messing it up since the hour hand will be at 9pm. Do you move your hand past 3am... then set date again to yesterday date before adjusting final correct hour?
And won't just wearing an automatic watch usually be enough to get the movement running again? Does it potentially cause damage to just allow the rotor to slowly wind the watch if it has completely stopped? If I haven't worn an automatic in a few days I usually just give the watch a few 'shakes' to get things moving, and then simply wearing it for the day is usually enough to completely 'recharge' the spring. Do some stopped watches not start back up if they aren't wound manually?
Excellent guide! I recently got a high quality replica and this was exactly what i needed to do to set it for both the date and time. Thank you very much! :)
Bowen You so i can buy a cheap watch that is complete turd for £20 or i can get a decent looking watch that has more features and its a novelty item for the same price? ill go with this one and save the other £5000 for better investments thanks guys
Whoa!! This is not correct. Do not do this! Old school rule set time to 5 am as habit then quick set the date to yesterday! Then advance to current time and date manually.
It’s fake btw guys, it’s supposed to say oyster perpetual date if it has the date which it does. If it doesn’t have the date it should just say oyster perpetual. His has the date so it should say oyster perpetual date instead of oyster perpetual. That is just an easy tell on any Rolex.
your watch needs cleaning, very helpful I was just saying I need to check the battery looking on youtube for changing battery in Rolex 16013 didn't know to wind it, lol Thanks
I heard this as well Collin from a diff video.. and noticed my datejust is counter clockwise to go clockwise.. I began sweating and getting extremely worried - went to Rolex and they verified its real. Mine going counterclockwise and makes the hands turn clockwise. It is a ss and 18k gold datejust. I watched a vid of youtube of fake and real datejust and they said the real should be the opposite, I know have learned this is only some models. So monoi is right its only certain models and not an indication of fake.
People look for a the watches they have on RUclips to learn mor about their watch.....which unless fake, is pretty spendy. If you don't see that then you probably could not afford anyway! Just saying!
Thanks. Got the same watch from my father before he died but he never told me how it works. Now I know and can wear it thinking of him.
I have a pre-owned oyster perpetual two-tone 16233. It looks just like this model, one of the nicest watches ever made.
Agree... I have one that I purchased in 2012 and it keeps on ticking.
I dislike the 2 tone look. Gold or steel

+andresruval Yes it's ok to set the date that way. I just wanted to make people aware not to use the quickset date function between about 9pm-2am
I think I just damaged my Datejust this way. Now the date automatically changes at 9:00, not 12:00.
Should you set the time, then wind, then set the date?
YOU ARE SOOO R!GHT 1OOOlighryrs (( ;
I would NEVER TRUST these "beckerEXperts" for
NOT KNOWING something so OBV!OU$.
How did you possibly know that the time you were setting is AM or PM? It has to be correct or the watch will not accurately adjust the date at midnight.
I love my datejust
this man just saved me. I was going to a party and my watch was totally messed up and I couldn't understand it. thxxxx ❤️❤️
Thanks big time, didn’t know about winding my MILGAUSS. Works & runs great.👍👍👍👍👍
Hi, I Bought one Last month from a Pawn Shop Jewellers & Could You Please Let me Know if the date does Not Change is Because I Don’t wear it Everyday? Thanks
i followed the video and the date didn't change the following day. pls enlighten me on this. thank you very much. i'd appreciate a response.
how do you know when it's wound enough? Will it stop winding? I just don't want to wind it too much and break the spring.
So do you wind it roughly 30-40 spins or how many cause I seen on google some go up to 260 spins
I don't own a Date Just, but I do own a Deep Sea-Sea Dweller. My question is, are the links on the Date Just hollow bc they sure sound like it or is it just me? Thanx man, mine was stopped and I didn’t know that I can do it at home by myself 👍🏻
If it's an automatic watch then just wearing it should be sufficient to get the rotor moving enough to start it back up. Or like my dad taught me, just give it a few shakes ;)
Thanks for the video!!
What's the model of your Rolex?
I have one of this model but I don't know the model ?
My English is bad sorry !!
Its a oyster perpetual date just 😉
Is owning a rolex obnoxious? I would hate to wind this thing every day. Am I overthinking this?
Thank you very informative and helpful🦖

Junito Punto Comm
Help, mine is changing to another date at 4am
Really Informative
How much this watch prices
Think you should have adjusted time before date to make sure the time was not between 9pm-3am , which might cause problems to the mechanism .
What if u need to set time between 9pm and 3am? You have to wait until past 3am to use the watch?
I own the exact same watch! I love it!
thanks dude
Wrong!!! You have to set the date one day before the correct date in order to set the am or pm correct.
Is this watch automatic plus winding or only winding
Can you elaborate?
@@drwdzz I mean does it have both features. Or just winding
You're wrong
You have to pull the crown to the further position and make sure that you are not in the "danger" zone before changing date..... You will damage the date wheel!
I am a proud owner of the same watch but I have a question. The watch has not been worn in years, I have wound the watch about 50 turns and it still doesn't not tick. Any thoughts?
+Andrew Britt It will need servicing.
or Just shake the watch like a mad cow for about 2 minutes.. then see if it starts working.. pull the crown out and put it back on few times as well.
@@frankblack831 thank you shaking worked lol
@@SpecialKofficial that’s how mine is lol
Thanks
Thanks a lot

Never knew that now I know
Doing this on the 15th of March. Got goosebumps 😅
Thank you that was helpful
Thanks for the tip 👌
Thanks for the video. I didn't even know you can manually wind it lol
And won't just wearing an automatic watch usually be enough to get the movement running again? swag grahn
people still commenting on this??, go get a life
lol
Thank you!
Thank you very much :)
I think you're supposed to wind the watch after you've set the time not before.
thanks so much!
Perfect instructions. Thanks
It seems I have to keep setting the time, it stops over night.
My other watches don't do that
It's because a rolex is a mechanical watch.
Whoa!! This is not correct. Do not do this! Old school rule set time to 5 am as habit then quick set the date to yesterday! Then advance to current time and date manually.
Don't authentic Rolex watches move the hands clockwise by turning the crown clockwise? It's a common thing fakes get wrong.
It’s fake btw guys, it’s supposed to say oyster perpetual date if it has the date which it does. If it doesn’t have the date it should just say oyster perpetual. His has the date so it should say oyster perpetual date instead of oyster perpetual. That is just an easy tell on any Rolex.
Thanks yo this helped me I thought I got screwed over tkz
your watch needs cleaning, very helpful I was just saying I need to check the battery looking on youtube for changing battery in Rolex 16013 didn't know to wind it, lol Thanks
16013 has a 3035 movement, no battery needed
I think that's a fake...the 9 should be closed not open.
it depend of the model
more importantly the crown should move clockwise to move forward in timesetting..unlike this movement here
thanks buddy
The watch in the video is real right? I heard that if turning the crown counter clockwise made the hands turn clockwise, its a sign of a fake.
it depend of the model, i have 2 and they doesn't turn in the same direction.
I heard this as well Collin from a diff video.. and noticed my datejust is counter clockwise to go clockwise..

Don't misinform people. Take some lessons first😉
not correct, easiest way to bugger your watch up,,,clearly not able to tell if its am or pm.follow these instrucions at your peril.
People look for a the watches they have on RUclips to learn mor about their watch.....which unless fake, is pretty spendy. If you don't see that then you probably could not afford anyway! Just saying!
