Hi Joe! I’m envious that you already have your pool open, thanks to the “Beast”! We’re getting ready to open ours as well. We have an LP gas pool heater that does an amazing job of heating the pool from it’s winter chill but it take a LOT of gas for the initial run (usually 8 hours) to get the pool heated up. After, that, it doesn’t take much to maintain it with our solar blanket on the pool. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
That is right, taking the temperature back up is where it takes the most energy. Do you have an idea of the temperature of water you begin with when you open the pool? In my case, it was just above freezing point, a few days earlier, it was having an iceberg floating in it... Lol! Best case scenario is that the water was at 46°F, which is the natural temperature deep underground! Thanks!
Today (April 16th) was another nice sunny day, 80°F. We had a few friends to come over and enjoy the pool. The water was at 87°F this afternoon! Thanks!
Hello Joe, Really nice set up. Glad to see you are getting some beautiful weather. Here in Nova Scotia we have been enjoying some unusually warm weather as well. Enjoy your weekend. Ben
Salut Joe!!! Wow!! With the heater set up for your pool, you'll be swimming soon!! Hard to believe eh, swimming in a pool in April and not freezing the family jewels off!! LOL Take care!!
I am surprised to see you without snow Joe. Dave hasn’t been so fortunate. We have been in the upper 70’s, lower 80’s here in Iowa. The weather guessers are calling for a high of 40 on Sunday with a 90% chance of snow.
Yes the weather was pretty exceptional here yesterday and today and will continu this weekend, it’s weird to see a pool already opened this early in April 👍🏻, bon weekend Joe 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂
We were joking all winter that we would start the pool as soon the ice is melted, would that be in April... We will heat the pool for this weekend, but when it gets back to cold weather, we will let it go to its natural temperature. Thanks!
That a nice temp for this time of year. It does take a lot to heat a pool. Water likes to hold temp so when it's cold it's hard to warm up. Have a good week Joe! See ya!
Good Evening Joe, very nice weather that you have and also nice pool in deed 😇👌👍Yes heating water takes a lots of energy for sure 🥴Thank You Very Kindly Joe for your invitation mon ami 😇👌👍 Yes we still have snow for sure 🤣👍 Have a OUTSTANDING week end to both of you Cheers 👍👌😇🍻
Hi Joe, you place looks so neat and tidy as always. I can't believe how quickly the "beast" heated the pool, that's incredible. Looking forward to the next one :)
Summer is here too, but not for long. 30+c here the last few days. Stacking wood when it's hot is not fun! It's pretty neat that you can heat your pool with your boiler. Take care
We had a nice day yesterday, enjoying the pool. The water was 85°F. That is what I thought of this weekend, not the good timing for firewood. Let's enjoy the nice weather in family! Thanks!
Lol.. rubbing it in.. encore 3-4 pieds de neige dans mon coin! Very nice pool! I love the whole heating setup you have and I'm seriously going to look into a similar setup soon. I start swimming at 68F so I'd totally go for a dip at that temperature! My above ground pool getsto 78F in the warmest summer days (I dont heat it). Thanks for sharing!
Lol! We used to live in Shefford mountain a few kilometers from where I live now and we would still have snow. We had an above ground pool and the shade would keep it well below 75°F all summer long... This inground pool was my project last summer. Let's say I spent a LOT of time next to the pool... to work on it! Thanks!
Thanks for the update. That looks like the perfect way to heat the pool. It is great that you are getting some hot weather, I don't think it would be worth us having a pool for the three hot days we get over the summer 🙂
We get really cold winters, then quite hot summers too! That is what I like about our place. If you never really feel like a pool is needed, then you don't need it!!! Thanks!
Nice weather Joe. Here in PEI, Canada it’s been between 6C and 14C the las number of days. Nice. But not pool weather. Hehe Get a few bikini clad beauties at pool side Joe, and Dave RCAF polar express, would come running to visit. Hehe. Have a great day.
No, I am not a fan of covering a pool. Although it can save some time of maintenance, removing it is what deters me from going for a quick swim. So it defeats the whole purpose in my case! I will let the pool will revert back to cold water in the next few weeks, no problem. Because when it's cold outside, I usually don't really wish to jump in the pool either. Within 24 hours, I can crank the temperature up with fair amount of firewood too. Thanks!

@@FromSteelToWood On mine pool I have bubbleplastic that reduced temp lost and use of chemicals. Takes 60 sec to remove. I have read somewhere that 80% of temp lost is to air....but you have a lot of wood, I only have the sun to heat up pool.

Thanks Joe, very nice pool heating setup. Take care.
Thanks! Nothing like using scrap from the wood processing to feed the boiler, to heat the pool!
April 16 here in MN as I write, 32º F and snowing! That pool looks really inviting, Joe! Thanks for showing us! Cheers!

That's right, it would work having Dave here. Only problem, I might have no wife at the end of the process!!! Thanks Noel!

Good to see you back Joe! That pool looks good nice job. Later

' the hell you talking about? It's 32 F here , and I'm a lot further south than you are!
Hehe... that's what they call climate changes! Lol! Thanks Jim!
Nice Joe, howe do you take care of pooltemp during night? Insulatet cover?
