Horsepower and gear ratio will do the job. If you look at trucks, the horsepower rating of their big engines aren't that high but they are able to output it at very low rpm because of their huge torque. Cars like this subaru have relatively high horsepower for their engine size compared to trucks, but only produce it at high rpm because of their low torque. Gear ratio acts as torque multipliers that helped this subaru do what it did. Power is work over time or rate of doing work. Work is force multiplied by distance. Torque is rotational force. RPM is rotation over time or rate of rotation. And thus, power can be calculated using RPM and Torque. And of course, traction is needed and that subaru had AWD. And the slippery road might have helped spare the car's transmission from too much stress.
I don't think it's just sitting there randomly. The other video shows it tearing it up. It probably could've gone very bad for them at any moment given the car that it is. Honestly though, can you see a Mk IV SUPRA towing a semi truck at all? Yeah neither can I. That would be a recipe for disaster.

He did drive up the entire hill 40m while snow was piling up onto the hood of the car...
