I have a 2015 Bullet and 2021 Intercptr650 which i tour with every year. So last month i came home with the limegreen Scrambler400x. The dealership is 300km away but over good highway mostly. Ive just done 1200km incl 02 oil changes and 4200 rpm gets you to 85kmph which has been pretty much my limit for the running in period. A definite seal of approval from Mrs. All Year Round and I thought that she would hold out for the Rocket👍👍. The Scrambler 400X is a very good choice I would think, especially for wet back roads in Pomgolia. I constantly worry whether my wife is still on the back as she is a bit of a waif😂😂 .
"How does it compare to the Rocket?" 😂🤣. Those insidiously, creeping 20/30/40 mph limits though 😔 At first I thought these might be temporary with all the flooding your way, but then I spotted the painted markers so I guess they're here to stay. With the way this country is going, 40bhp is indeed plenty. Lovely to see Mrs TAYM of course. Might get Mrs PGB out soon I hope. Like Mrs TAYM I can barely tell she's on the back. We do like those little cuddles and it makes giving up our solitary pleasures for a time well worth it in my opinion.
An excellent addition to your marvelous series on the 400x. To get the Mrs TAYM ultimate accolade - nothing wrong with it and the rocket only different not better - surely makes it her top choice. And here’s the thing - out on my 1000sx yesterday I didn’t want to go down the messy wet narrow roads of north Essex and south Suffolk, but I would have done on the 400x. Perfect for our roads at the moment and great all year round.
Both the Scrambler SX and Speed Triumph 400's are nice bikes and I have had a look at both to downsize from my T100 but I have plumbed for a new Honda CB500x. Mrs Taym seemed to like the Scrambler though, so after a little buttering up, you might have paved the way to getting for your winter bike. Although winter is all but over. 😄👍

Mrs. Taym. definitely prefers Triumph then Taym. and it looks like your next winter bike needs ordering soon. Mrs Taym seemed more impressed with this than with Paddington. Good review from you both Triumph will be pleased. On a different note, the local council spend a fortune in speed signage don`t they. Five in the first minute driving through Elmswell, 30-20-20-20-20, all in an obviously built up area - overkill or what, then another 13 speed change signs in the next 3 minutes before you got to the national speed sign, marvellous.... What I found strange though was the 30mph limits if you turned off the 20mph main road onto the more built up housing estate streets - like where the kids play? unbelieve-able! Do some more 2 up video`s Taym we value Mrs Taym`s opinion, she knows a thing or two about bikes especially Triumphs.
So far this one seems to be the most comfortable, smaller (here in the States) 2-up motorcycle. The only thing I would like for it to be a little bit lower and with a seat a bit more like the Honda SCL500, but then again it would not have the 195 mm ground clearance (about 7.7 inches) for the ocassional light-off road/gravel road.

I'm betting Mrs taym knew perfectly well this was a thinly veiled ruse to seek approval for your next purchase, when she said it looked to be £8500 you could hear victory in your voice lol
I.d be happy to take her on the monkey. No pillion pegs is a minor problem but she could hold on extra tight.😂 Actually saw a couple on a vespa gts and the lady couldn't reach the pegs and was just dangling her legs. I thought they were mad.
Always amazes my when I'm riding my Classic 350 2 up how little I noticed the gf was on the bike, it's still as flickable and doesn't lose any of its 20.2hp as when I'm riding it solo... Then she gets on the back of my V-Strom which has 5 times more power and every little movement she makes unsettles it! 😂😂😂
How does it compare to The Rocket? 🤣🤣🤣 Well it looks like Mrs TAYM gives it the nod so TAYM's new garage has to be a Rocket for the summer and a 400x for the winter.
I think 🤔 Mrs TAYM 🦒 should get HER CBT & get that 125 scooter 🛵 or a 125 Monkey 🐒 or GSX125 or that British built 125 Scrambler then progress Licensing System & get 400x.Pity your system isn't like ours & do a Basic Handling Skills Test & then get a bike upto 660cc she'd be able to get 400x straight away unless she wanted 125 first.I did my Basic Handling Skills test on a 225cc bike.
The wise words of Mrs TAYM, I think you've got the green light to buy that winter bike TAYM, but hurry up ,winter's nearly over, and you won't have that excuse! 😉 😅 Enjoy your weekend both of you 👍 Cheers Mel 🍻
I was gutted I missed out by one day seeing one in Triumph Dealership yesterday. They said they're popular & sold 4 in 10 days to Learners older riders down sizing from heavy lump to 400x & those who just want a lightweight Scrambler that can do it all.HE said that interest is huge & getting a bunch in at end of month. Also said alot of older riders who want a light bike that's capable of cruising at higher speed & can still hit the gravel are interested & it's a Triumph of course.NZ🇳🇿 has a aging bike population over 45 that make up most riders especially the over 55-75 group.

Any time a woman likes something and it's about half the price they expected to pay, it's never about money spent and always about how much was saved 😉😆 Speaking of cost, Triumph should give you one free, Mrs TAYM'S approval is priceless as far as free advertising 👍😊😂
😂😂😂😂 I totally agree, I think they should 😂😂😂 thanks GW 😁
Good morning ! You certainly need those wide bars with all those 20mph zones 🤬
😂😂😂 I know, incredible isn’t it😁 but there is a reason 😁thanks Rob 😁
Was just curious TAYM how well dya reckon it'd perform 2up on motorway
I reckon it would be ok in the right conditions but I personally wouldn’t want to go too far on a wet and or windy day. The 400x was fine with Mrs TAYM on the back though 🤔 thanks GD 😁
@@TAYM I'm tryna find my first a2 compliant bike and I'll definitely be doing a few 3 hour rides within the months got any recommendations Mr TAYM (I'm also a taller rider)
@@PhlegmedUp I absolutely loved the Kawasaki 500 range and for me, the Eliminator was great😁 it looks small but is so comfy and just feels an allround well balanced bike that I didn’t feel too big on😁
lovely bike... we also do a lot of 2 up riding... i love the royal enfield classics .. but too gutless... im now divided between the triumph 400 speed or the cb300r ... 30bhp of the honda would be enough i rarely go over 70mph and love backlane riding... the 40 bhp triumph has great seat for two... but the fly by wire throttle body really putting me off i dunno why i dont trust it even tho its made by bosch... decisions
Thanks P 😁 it seems more and more are using it 😁 still it’s good to have such a good range to choose from 😁
Just wondering how tall you are im 6.4 would I swamp this model triumph cheers.
I am 6 2 and feel fine on it 😁 it is tall but relatively narrow 🤔 it is taller than the 900 Scrambler but I think you will have to test ride it to know 😁 thanks S 😁
I had Ducati scrambler , this one looks good. Seat height bit high for me tho - shame .
Thanks N 😁 I must try a Ducati 😁
Had the 400s been available 18 months ago I may have not have bought my wonderful Bonneville. Is that sacrilege?
Yes 😁😂😂😂😂
Overall, all things considered, which one would u prefer? Scrambler 400 or classic 350?
Thanks M 😁 now that question needs another ride on the 350 😁
Great review as always glad Mrs Taym enjoyed it shows that small capacity bikes still can be great fun to ride.
Would suit her down to the ground even with platforms on 😅 ride safe and keep the videos coming 😊
😂😂😂😂 thanks Steve 😁
Considering swapping the old gs for one of these
Now that’s an interesting swap 🤔 thanks Tim 😁
@@TAYM yes a bit lighter and cheaper running costs
@@timothybrockbank7474 very true, but still 🤔
what is the total weight of you and your boss! our total weight combined is about 28 st. would the 400 be capable of pulling us etc.
Together we are 25st 😁 I reckon you will be fine so long as you don’t plan on going scratching round the back roads 😁 go and test one two up 😁 I think you will be surprised 😁
thanks@@TAYM
I'm betting Mrs taym knew perfectly well this was a thinly veiled ruse to seek approval for your next purchase, when she said it looked to be £8500 you could hear victory in your voice lol
😂😂😂😁😂 you are far too sharp 😂😂😂 that obvious was it 😂😂 thanks Stephen 😁
How was it compared to bsa for pillion.?
Obviously the bsa is more powerful but from a pure two up comfort and handling, I would have to say the triump has more room 😁 thanks Charlie 😁
Mrs is the expert. 👍
I.d be happy to take her on the monkey. No pillion pegs is a minor problem but she could hold on extra tight.😂 Actually saw a couple on a vespa gts and the lady couldn't reach the pegs and was just dangling her legs. I thought they were mad.
Thanks but how tall are you 2?
I am 6 ft 2in and Mrs TAYM is about 5ft 8in i think 🤔 thanks G 😁
Cakes ARE luggage 😉
😂😂😂😂 thanks Lily 😁
Lots of 20mph zones down your way. We have them all over. Guess where.
😂😂😂 yes, thinking of changing the name Suffolk for Wales 😁😂😂😂 thanks T 😁
Always amazes my when I'm riding my Classic 350 2 up how little I noticed the gf was on the bike, it's still as flickable and doesn't lose any of its 20.2hp as when I'm riding it solo...
Then she gets on the back of my V-Strom which has 5 times more power and every little movement she makes unsettles it! 😂😂😂
Yes weird isn’t it 🤔 thanks Richie 😁
Cakes are good 🍰🧁🎂
Exactly 😁 thanks Tim 😁
Marvellous.....
😂😂😂 thanks 1GP😁
How does it compare to The Rocket? 🤣🤣🤣 Well it looks like Mrs TAYM gives it the nod so TAYM's new garage has to be a Rocket for the summer and a 400x for the winter.
Wouldn’t that be nice 😁 thanks Mike 😁
Bring back BHP! - and lose the Newton ****ing metres.
I did mention the BHP 😁 thanks P 😁
Nice one
Thanks Peter 😁
If you dont Mrs TAYM is there, what would happen if she fell off.
I would realise when my dinner wasn’t ready 😂😂😂 thanks C 😁
Enjoy your weekend both of you 👍
Cheers Mel 🍻
Yes, I think it’s the number of hoops that stops her starting 😁
@@TAYM Yeah you have atleast a extra hoop to jump through than us 125cc class.
You are punching mate !
😂😂😂😂 thanks Peter 😁 I know 😂😂😂
your granddaughter was impressed with that bike == what about mrs taym ??
😂😂😂😂 thanks SG 😁 you are far smoother than me 😂😂😂
Never had a girlfriend or wife that would pillion. Lucky man. Much rather this bike than an Enfield. However would choose cb500 over this
Thanks Volt 😁
Missed by this much....again
😂😂😁
How can you abuse a young lady like that with your stable🤔
😂😂😂😂 thanks Paul 😁
1😂
I was gutted I missed out by one day seeing one in Triumph Dealership yesterday. They said they're popular & sold 4 in 10 days to Learners older riders down sizing from heavy lump to 400x & those who just want a lightweight Scrambler that can do it all.HE said that interest is huge & getting a bunch in at end of month. Also said alot of older riders who want a light bike that's capable
of cruising at higher speed & can still hit the gravel are interested & it's a Triumph of course.NZ🇳🇿 has a aging bike population over 45 that make up most riders especially the over 55-75 group.
RR I thought you'd be looking for a mobility scooter next you're getting on a bit.😊😊
@@daintree2455 Yeah my body is atleast 10yrs older than my age after that accident & arthritic back.
Perhaps a trike in a few years.
2 stroke mobility scooter you reckon😂🤣.
@@ruahinesrider what a great idea 2 stroke mobility scooter smoke keep the mozzies away as i go down the pub. If we had 2 stroke mobility scooters it would be just a blue haze in some coastal retirement towns Australia and Orewa NZ.
@@daintree2455 Ahhh the smell of 2 stroke.Would'nt want to drive into the supermarket hahaha😁😆😂🤣.
