    Ed Lover is right Ra set the tone for modern Day lyricism. Age isn't a barrier to learning. I've given game to people far older than me on many occasions. There are others who may have been talented as well. But no one was TECHNICALLY CREATIVELY CONSISTENTLY INNOVATIVE as Ra covering a rainbow of topics, styles, patterns,and phraseologies that fathered generations. FACTS...even if disagreed still resonates as solid💯✊🏾💯 3:31

      Nope he was anointed the next Rakim, not the next G Rap, he got his career off being the next Rakim, he started G Rap and Slick Rick later cause it was to hard and complex to be Rakim, Rakim imprint all over Illmatic.

      He(Nas) was in ERic B and Rakim studio session before he met G Rap. He used Eric B and Rakim studio time. Dead Pres. was a Rakim phrase that Nas took.

    Rap was totally different before the paid in full album. The game changed after that album. Rapper were sounding like RunDmc, yelling their lyrics. Or like how LL sounded on rock the bells. Rakim rapped with a normal laid back voice

    The irony here to me is that Jay-Z is only a year younger than Rakim and BDK. Now Nas and Biggie are four to five years younger respectively so, that's understandable influence. But, NAS, specifically, was 14-15 when Rakim was really lit and he definitely came up under that school of Mc. JAY-Z would be more BDK influenced even though he still only a year younger than Kane too. I'm not saying they he's wrong its just, that goes to everyone before them regardless. But, equally so, those greats efforts would be for naught if the next Generation didn't carry the mantle to even higher heights. So, it works both ways.

    • @bravedave90
      @bravedave90 6 месяцев назад +1

      Another observation could be made if we're being honest is that Jay-Z was more influenced by NAS than BDK or Rakim on his debut Album 🤔 The flickty fast style that was arguably influenced by Kane or Jaz-O was played out by the time Resonable Doubt was released. In fact, Jay-Z is somewhat ashamed of his more humble lyrical beginnings. I get that from listening to Memphis Bleek interviews and my own observation of Jay-Z talking about his past musically.

      @@bravedave90Jay was not influeced by no damn Nas. Rakim did influence Jay Z and Nas. Nas got his style from Rakim and Kool G Rap. Jay got his style from Rakim and Big Daddy Kane. Rakim inspired Nas and Jay to do the introspective style. Nas didn’t create that type of style in order to influence Jay Z. That style of rap was before Nas.

    Is not being calm as a rapper rakim master the ryme scheme no one dosen't better than rakim he formulated his lyricism in a art forum were you after listen to his songs twice to understand his lyrics for example like the 18th letter or holy are you" those are deep songs . I put up 18th letter song to any legendary rapper against thier best songs . Rakim is another level i think rakim has not reach his full potential despite not having a new album in a long time . This why i said rakim has to prove him self that he still got it . If makes new album just good as paid full or better at the age he's its remarkable .

    Let's say this that Rakim was the first MC to make an impact in the commercial impact with his smooth style of raps. Then others followed . Remember everyone back then and now when asked who's their favorite rapper they always said Rakim. Listen to those old interviews of rappers of the 90's. Even EPMD was told they sound like Rakim, but your assessment is also right. Biggie said once he got his vision style of rap from Kool G Rap. Method said he started rapping because of Kool G Rap. BIG PUN was rumored to bow down to Kool G rap and kissed his feet. He definitely got his style from Kool G. I heard of Russell saying that about Nas. Don't know why because Nas raps smoothly like rakim. Unless when Russell met him he probably was rapping g with a lisp like G rap. I will say Nas took rakim style to the next level to street knowledge but jay z definitely was influenced by Big daddy kane.

    • @CarlosHernandez-rl2wg
      @CarlosHernandez-rl2wg 6 месяцев назад +1

      Correction: Pun is said to have kissed G Rap's ring. To me, Rakim, Kane, G Rap, and KRS established the templates for rappers we still see today. Jay would be more of a Kane and later a Nas / Rakim. Nas is a mix of G Rap and Rakim. Biggie is more G Rap.

    Doggie I am surprised at you my dude, If you listen to illmatic that is definitely Rakim, those ideas are Rakim the first albums of Eric B and Rakim, Eric B for Pres. and My Melody slow flow that's Ra, Jay came out with Kane flow, did not work, then change flow like Rakim and won, you need to look at like a patent, Kodak patent is in everybody's phone in the camera, the platform is Rakim, then layered, it is same with Rakim, example everyone connects those words together or stretch the word to get to next one, which the youngins use to this day, its the technique, you could not rhyme like what came before him, you had to go back to the lab, you heard what DMC said, Doggie you are smarter than that, you understand what ED is talking about. I have more examples.
