I DROVE MY BOAT RIGHT UNDER A WATERFALL!! (Episode 269)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 дек 2024
- In this episode we continue cruising around Fiordland in New Zealand, which fast became our favourite place we had ever taken the boat. We literally drive the boat under a waterfall, but eventually have to set sail north towards Nelson, to try complete our circumnavigation of the country!
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. We found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are now sailing across the Pacific Ocean!!

The drone footage was so stellar,, felt like I was watching a National Geographic film,, the memories you all are logging I know will be cherished to your last breath.. it’s easy to feel the joy jumping off the screen.. and I love the decision to head north.. seize the moment is status quo for Parlay and her crew❤
Thanks so much Bill!
Hi. The west coast of New Zealand is not for the faint of heart - or the inexperienced. You showed good seamanship when you took advantage of a weather window. The Tasman Sea is not a place where you want to hang around. I'm sure you've had some negative comments about missing Nelson and stops on the north island but those people have no idea of the responsibility you carry for your boat and crew. Well done. I can't wait to see next week's episode! Towing warps? I think that proves my point!😂😂🌊🌊😱
Thanks for that Howard! Definitely was a tough decision but the right one 🙏🏼
They are dusky dolphins👌 one of the biggest I think👌 keep it up team👌
Thanks Nick!
wicked shower, 👍👍👍
Oh yeah!
What a beautiful country!!
Indeed!
Your channel has enhanced my life more than you will ever know. I am paralysed for almost 9 years now and thought that I would never be able to see the beautiful places that you guys share with us all each episode. I can't even see outside anymore, but with the help of channels like yours I can still explore the world. Thank you Heather x
Hey Parley Fans. Let's send a little love Heathers way. I'm watching for some of the same reasons. Wish you all the best. Hang in there Heather.
Milford Sound is stunning I agree but Doubtful Sound is another level again. Our wee country is a treasure. Thanks for sharing your journey.
It’s absolutely stunning!
As a South African watching you and crew enjoy our food from the other side of the world warms my haert knowing you get a little of us everywhere you go
I’m South African too and also get such pleasure from their interaction with South Africans💯
Such warm and friendly people!
Hey we love biltong and boerewors here in aus!
Hi Colin, from BC Canada. I’m am so happy for you. The boat the crew that is changing all the time. You are such free Spirit! I think I’ve said it before, but way more exciting than being on those yachts with all that drama!! Beautiful drone shooting WOW!!!! ❤❤❤
Thanks Sandra! Appreciate you watching 😊
New Zealand is so beautiful. I hope the Tourism Board is kicking you a little something. Thanks for showing us her beauty.
New Zealand sure is a beauty! We actually did reach out to the tourism board to work with us and they declined :(
They don’t want to commercialize and ruin the beauty and I don’t blame them. There’s primordial things going on in those breathtakingly verdant mountains. Let the mystical remain untouched (untrashed) by humans. What an amazing land you come from Colin. I know this trip will surround your thoughts and dreams forever. Thanks for sharing the majesty. Love from northwest Texas
I feel like your sailing around New Zealand is like me watching a National Geographic program each week. The adventures have been spectacular, and the scenery is sincerely one of a kind.
That’s awesome to hear Phil, thanks for watching mate
This channel gets better and better! NZ and fiordland is jaw-dropping!!
Right!
This whole adventure becomes more and more emotional, such beauty combined with an underlying sense of respect for the power of nature. Epic.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Epic!
🙏🏼
Epic stuff well done 👍 and a good call I think
Thanks mate
The way that waterfall makes the lake below look like cracked glass. All those waterfalls. How epic is that?
So epic!
I saw SailGP practicing in San Francisco late last week, damn those guys were moving. Wished I could've made it for the racing.
Those foiling cats are insane!
Brit, I'm sure leaving Parlay and going home to be with family, as the best woman at your brother's wedding, was bittersweet. The pictures you shared on Instagram conveyed the love and gratitude of your presence. I especially loved you with your Gran. ❤
Thanks for sharing the chillingly breathtaking part of New Zealand 🇳🇿.
🙏🏼
Milford sound is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. If you have the chance to go don’t let a rainy forecast stop you- there are waterfalls everywhere when it rains!
We were so excited when it rained on our way to Milford, there really was soooo many waterfalls and they were pumping 🤩
Pleasing to see the captain has confidence that Parlay can navigate such heavy conditions with a light crew.
Indeed 💪🏼
Thank you very much 😊
Thanks for watching 😊
Ah ya, your home movies are pretty good !!!
Thanks man
Makes me miss home, epic scenes and that Music in the Sounds shots was spot on!!!
West is Best 👌 😂
It’s unreal down there 🙌🏼
Well done Britt! Going all the way to the top. Going to the first spreader was enough for me.
Thanks for watching Mark!
It just shows that beauty doesn't only come from white sandy beaches and tropical seas. The static clouds in Milford Sound, pretty much at sea level, have a real sense of mystery. Amazing backdrop.
100%! We were all awed by the beauty in the South Island
@@ParlayRevivalJo
Excellent episode. The waterfall shower was definitely a once in a lifetime event.
Absolutely
Oh my gosh. The music paired with the scenes is amazing.
Thanks Judy!
Amazing footage, and the music made it feel like I was watching a National Geographic film. Wishing you a safe passage on the next leg. Absolutely love watching all your adventures.
Thanks very much Linda!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for sharing your amazing country with us. I would never have know to see this part of New Zealand and I certainly will when we get to New Zealand...
Fiordlands is a must visit!
good on you boys and girls!!!
🙏🏼🙌🏼
That was my favourite episode since I started following. Don't really know why, just is
Great to hear mate
Well done team Parlay.
Those Sounds in the southern parts of NZ, are absolutely breathtaking. I’m so thrilled for you all experiencing this first hand.
Thanks for taking us all along for the journey.
Hope Brits bro had a marvellous wedding. 💗
Thanks so much!
Thank you guys for sharing. We had NO IDEA these Fjords existed in New Zealand. If we didn't know, we thought we were in Scandinavia. Absolutely stunning. It's this (virtual) experience that makes us so proud to support Sailing Parlay. You guys kill it every time! Stay safe, we love you guys!!
Oh man, if you can visit New Zealand and the Fiordlands you absolutely should! Thanks so much for the support and for watching each week 😊
Another Incredible episode Collin ❤
Cheers Rick
Thank you, Colin and crew. Just to know such beautiful locations exist makes my heart soar!
Thanks for watching mate
I am lost for words! all I got is WOW
Love hearing that, thanks for watching 😊
I've been watching your channel from the time you purchased Parlay. The production of your videos was always good, but now they are absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoy watching each episode, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone approached you to do a full-length feature film! Keep up the great work!
Wow, thanks so much for watching all these years. We really appreciate that support 🙏🏼
It's like watching a documentary on National Geographic! Again I really enjoyed this, thank you so much for sharing ❤
Thank you so much for watching ❤
Beautiful, spontaneous, BRAVE, and joyful, with a cliffhanger to boot! Jonesing to see what happens next week!
💨🌊⛵️
Thanks for watching and commenting Marcie ❤️😘
that Charles Sound montage in 4K. wow. just wow
🙏🏼🙌🏼❤
The scenery in this area is remarkable Colin. I love warm weather cruising, but this is epic. Reminds me of my backpacking trips in the national parks.
We were definitely out of our comfort zone and missing the warm weather but it was so worth it!
You captured the Milford Sound so beautifully, having seen it in 2021, I was moved again at its stunning scenery and how it is so breathtaking and overwhelming in the best way possible. We were able to scatter some of our Mum's ashes there, the Mitre Peak cruise captain respectfully stopping the boat for us to have our loving moment in a special spot that will always remain in our hearts. And I can imagine it will remain a memorable moment for you and Parlay crew. Such a great episode, thank you!
Wow, that’s super special and what a stunning place to take your mum’s ashes. Thanks for sharing ❤
Say it every week but here it is again THANK YOU xx
Thanks Tiffany!
I absolutely loved the early morning shots. It was glorious. What a wonderful life you live, you will have so many memories of this piece of heaven on earth.
Indeed! Feeling very grateful :)
The choice of music to go along with the dramatic footage at the beginning of the fiord cruising was spot on.
Thanks a lot Richard! 🙏🏼
I was recommend one of your videos over the previous week, episode 244. Well now I am all caught up to the present, I HAVE TO GO WATCH FROM THE BEGINNING! The adventure of the Parlay is truly inspiring.
That’s awesome man, thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Most Beautiful places in the world ! glad you was the skipper to show it to us .
Thanks Randy! So glad I got to sail Parlay down there 🙏🏼
One of your best vids yet Colin, great music matched to the scenery, great commentary, great filming and droning. You've done great justice to our special place, Fiordland.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks very much for watching!
Thank you!!!!!
Thank you for watching 😊
Once again, ⛵Onward through the fog!
🙌🏼
Thank you for the beautiful scenery. I can tell in Colin's eyes when the beauty of what he's seeing gets him a little emotional. Be proud, you all are living the life we would all love to be living. Meanwhile, in Florida, back in the office tomorrow.....
We’re so grateful to be living this life 😊 Thanks for watching Tammy!
Colin you are a fine ambassador...for Sailing, for New Zealand, and for Life itself....thank you all for sharing....you are living my dreams 🎉
Cannot wait to view next weeks episode!❣️ Safe sailing Parlay Crew ⛵️🙏🏿🫶🏾☮️🌅

Definitely the most beautiful part of NZ! Love your work Colin and crew!
Always awesome to watch a new vid from the Parlay crew!
Appreciate that Ben!
Good morning Parley, I have to thank you for the great cinematography. Those shots were beautiful.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching :)
The amazing footage of the spectacular Fiordland wanted to make me cry until the memory of the sand flies did make me cry.
😂 the sand flies are truly ruthless down there
NZ is beautiful country when we were there 14yr ago week after earthquake people were beautiful loved their accent ,missed Milford sound due to landslide so glad to see it from your boat and crew.always look forward to your videos you and Jamie such good mates great to see, happy sails Rick SA Aust😎
Keep up the great work. Great to see parlay in new Zealand. Hope to see you in Australia soon.
Unfortunately we had to skip Australia as it’s also difficult to get dogs in so we’re off to Tonga next to pick them up 😊
@19:51 Jamie's enthusiasm reminds me of Bill Murray in Ghostbuster's when they make the decision to 'cross the streams' lol
The scenery is unbelievable. Gorgeous photography! See ya next week!!
See ya next week Nina 😊
Amaze-balls episode!
Thank you, thank you!
More amazing scenery. Top stuff folks.
Thank you!
Outstanding videography in this one ! 16+ knots boat speed ??? along with the teaser at the end i am sure glad you guys really re enforced those bulkheads.
We sure are too!
Such amazing footage. Yeah , you've got some gnarly seas coming up!
Thats for sure! Stay tuned 😮
I love New Zealand. Absolutely stunning. I think it's the adventuresome culture that draws me in.
It really has it all
This is my favorite channel ever. Makes me so inspired to get to work on saving money to buy a boat & do something similar. Would love to start a following & sail around the world like yall. This is just absolutely incredible to see.
Those waterfalls the dolphins the scenery wow such beauty. What is a shame is this beautiful untouched land is only seen by a few in New Zealand due to its remoteness. You have actually lucked out big time with the weather window on your sailing around New Zealand. Great video again thanks for sharing. looking forward to next video
We absolutely lucked out with the weather. It was meant to be 😊
What an EPIC episode! The filming and editing are excellent! I am never ready for a Parlay episode to end, but this time I felt like someone hit stop mid feature film!! You definitely could put episodes together to create a documentary.👏🏽👏🏽 💖 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it TimTam! We miss ya ❤️
Such a beautiful area and just stunning footage. Thank you for giving us a peek at this beautiful landscape and part of the world.
Thanks for watching!
What a beautiful place. It has the same raw beauty as Canada. Along with both being commonwealth countries, this is part of what makes our countries so similar. With Fiordland though, you very well may have us beaten.
It sure is a special place 😊
Beautiful video
Thank you! Cheers!
Came across you by complete accident snooping in on below deck cause the missus was watching it, but instantly think your a fucking hero bro. Much love from Ireland 🇮🇪 dream would be to at the same craic that you guys are doing. Winging and loving life x
Thanks a lot bro!
New Zealand is absolutely incredible. I have always wished to visit. And as the Parley crew always does; they have motivated me even more to get there one day. But in the meantime thanks for bringing such incredible views for us to enjoy. Just amazing! Cheers!
Our pleasure! Definitely recommend trying to get over there, it’ll be worth it 🙌🏼 Thanks for following along.
Congratulations! We’ll done ! Thanks for brining us with you!
Thanks for following along mate!
Another gorgeous ep full of smiles.. Aotearoa is glorious in her beauty. Thank you again Parlay ♥
She absolutely is a beautiful country aye! Miss ya Anne ❤
Wow just wow
🙏🏼
Epic
Thanks mate
Just awesome, once in a lifetime cruising. (and friends all around)❤
Absolutely 🙌🏼
Epic, the weather, scenery, once in a lifetime opportunities, the timing, those waterfalls, fog/mist, snow capped mountains, west NZ, cold.
The beauty down there is next level
It truly is. You have captured a series of videos to encourage fellow boaters it can be done at the right time and circumstances.
Great adventure. I have to say the music, the footage made this an exceptional video. I felt like I was watching "Game of Thrones" with this excellent production. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
i have my views on great sailing destinations.... but this is great and has really changed the paradigm.
This is one to add to the list for sure!
I love the beautiful scenery! I want to go there.
You should!
wow that is crazy put it is very beautiful there great videos and look like alot of fun
Thanks!
The sounds were insane. Photography can obviously not really do it justice, but looked great all the same.
Absolutely worth the trip there if you can
Beautiful - and a soundtrack that would honour a Bond movie.
FAB
That was breath taking scenery all right! Love that you guys are so courageous, yet safe in everything you do. It all looks glamorous, but I'm sure it's pretty hard yakka out there at times!! You're a true leader Colin...respect!
Thanks a lot mate!
NZ has to be the most stunning place in the world. It takes Beauty and majesty beyond absurd and in to expanse beyond adjectives. I am in your debt for sharing this…
That was awesome! Can’t wait for next weekend!
Us too!
Absolutely beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Thanks for watching!
I learned something this morning while watching this with my older cousin. The Polonisian in him says it is Aotearoa, not New Zealand. Learned alot about the Indian Fijian side of the fam and their migration to Cananda and the US. Thank for being the catalyst for that conversation.
From one Canadian to another who is petrified of heights.
Woooo! Brit on going up the mast. What a cool spot to do it in. Happy sailing till next week.
Indeed! Māori are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand and call it Aotearoa 😊
@ParlayRevival Got a good history lesson on Fiji and how everyone is connected. I can't imagine traveling those distances in the boats they used.
Only thing I can say is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
Thanks Danny!
What a beautiful place New Zealand is… who knew! Thanks for sharing these unbelievable experiences.
Collin; you need to keep using that line, "WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT!!!" Make it a collection of all the times you find to say, ...WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT...
Haha sounds good mate
Thank you Colin, et al. The scenery you shared is absolutely breathtaking! And now, with a joyful heart from living vicariously through you all, it's off to the land of sugar plums. Thank you!! ❤
Thanks, love your gratitude in all things. Appreciate seeing your adventures!
James Bond soundtrack….. nice
🙏🏼
Wonderful storytelling and superb editing. Quite a satisfying watch.
That’s great to hear, thank you!
Wonderful video Colin !!! Brought back memories , I was on the ship Wanderer for few days in Milford Sound (1992 ?) Under the waterfall , just magical , Thank You for your videos !!!
Thanks for watching Dave! It really is something special to experience that in real life
Impressive filmage and editing! Beauty country!
