So...Im about to plant mine but now I'm worried. If I plant in a cool window do I really need to put the garlic in cool temps for 4 to 6 weeks? Or is it ok if I'm planting in a cool area (between 40-60 F)
I've grown several different varieties of both hard & soft neck garlic for many years & have a huge crop growing there at the moment but late September this year I wondered if it would grow happily in pots at home. Wow! It was planted in individual transparent pots, it's in a sheltered spot but does get rain. The stem growth is longer & thicker than the outdoor crop, so I will always be growing some at home now. My postman said 'Is that Garlic! How silly, I've never thought of doing that!' Thanks for the video.
So awesome Sara! I'm seriously debating not planting it in outside beds next year. I just want to use my 4-foot herb planters, vertical style in the greenhouse, than haul them out in the spring. No longer have dedicated bed space to Garlic...we'll see. I'll likely trial it for 2 more winters to get a real sense of what's possible. All the best!
I planted clove for the first time outdoors but the shoot hasn't grown any after about 2 inches height, its been like that for like a month. The tip Is yellow and the shoot seems like dull dark green. Is the soil bad?

Excited to see how all these variations in planting perform, and will pick the best performing experiment to repeat next year!

Since the garlic will be hanging around with me 😂 do I ever make it sit near a window for light before moving it outside in the Spring?
Love how you teach. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Aren't you going to try to grow it to completion inside ??
Love how your videos are short and to the point. Great editing!
THIS VIDEO CHANGED MY LIFE.
I love it!!! Just another awesome thing to do indoors...I really dig the moisture meter....I must have one! thanks for the info best indoor garlic video I have seen! All the best from freezing NY!
I think I will do both! We love garlic & grew enough to sell this year.

Wow two years ago I hope you are still active I have some huge garlic bulbs I didn't think I had time to grow outside but it's the end of June I'm going to try it both ways Both will be in containers I have no idea what is in the soil here and I think this is the way for me not to get chemicals in my food supply I will hope a big harvest Can you tell me the best way to keep it fresh I know how to do for the freezer but I love fresh I like to put little olive oil and roast in my oven mix with homemade butter ohh my it's so good mouth watering at just the thought 😋✅
looks like a lot of patience for sprouts to appear , still worth it . i planted a clove last week and just keep the soil moist. no change
Your manner of teaching and explaining is superb. Thank you 💚
Thanks so much! :-)
Thanks for making these videos, I am a total beginner at gardening and I use a lot of garlic in my cooking, this is excellent stuff for me!
This was very helpful. Here in the philippines garlic can cost you $0.31 PER PIECE which is very costly and a bit expensive for us. Ill share this to my friend
Oh man Bryan, gotta grow your own for sure! I have a video coming out this week for tips on growing Garlic in a tropical area! Could be useful. Thanks for the support man, cheers!

If garlic can be grown indoors, the screened in back porch will be great, too. Thanks.😊
I work at a grocery store and they throw out sprouted garlic usually so I took some home and planted it in a recycled corn crate with a garbage bag as a liner indoors a few weeks ago and getting tall after a week or two with me I was so surprised by its fast growth
It really does grow amazingly fast eh? Love it!
Funny. Thanks for the info and laughs. I was expecting to see you and the garlic shoots watching a hockey game. I'm very interested in growing garlic indoors.
Only planted outside so far and doing well at moment. May try indoors👍👍
Awesome Mark! Best of luck!
Hahahaha!! I love the shots of you hanging out with your garlic😂
I'm going to do this now! I've got a bulb in the fridge 😀
