Raw footage: Fire rages in San Francisco apartment building

- A fire broke out at a 4-story San Francisco apartment building on Leavenworth in the Russian Hill area on Wednesday. San Francisco Fire Department says the fire is under investigation. One person is in critical condition and as many as 20 people are displaced.

@@joannsmith3589 they have insurance. Chances are it’s not the only property they own and their personal residence won’t be affected. So they’ll be fine.
I lived on Pine Street between bush and Leavenworth in Nob Hill about 20 years ago. Had few buildings go up in flames about a within a few blocks.

That's what I was wondering about.
Because they’re not spraying from outside, it’s a room and contest fire in a corner apt, get a hose line up the stairs, into that apt and hit the fire that way, spraying from outside only causes more problems if there are people inside

That's a two alarm!? Fire fighters have more respect from me.
Here's how they do business . On dispatch of the first alarm assignment , 4 engine companies , 2 truck companies , a rescue squad , a paramedic ambulance , and a battalion cheif is sent . On the 2nd alarm , an additional 4 engines and a truck company is sent along with a battalion cheif , division cheif , mobile air bottle unit , and paramedic rescue captain . On the third alarm assignment , 3 additional engine companies and 2 truck companies are sent with another rescue squad , paramedic ambulance , and battalion cheif . The Cheif and Deputy Cheif of the department is notified and may also respond to the scene as needed . A mobile command unit is sent along with a fire investigator and the fire reserve unit is alerted . For a four alarm assignment , the response protocol is the same as a second alarm assignment . A fifth alarm assignment is designated as a general alarm assignment. meaning all available personnel and apparatus citywide will respond until resources are sufficient to control the fire . On a first alarm assignment if there are multiple people injured , additional paramedic ambulances are dispatched including the fire department's 2 bus ambulances that are capable of transporting 6 to 8 patients at a time .

I worked at an apartment building where a guy really did set the fire alarm off throughout the building. When asked what he was doing, he said he was making french fries. 😁 - True story!

There is urgency on every fire that needs to be fought . SFFD fights fires old school . They go in to make an interior attack initially rather than an exterior .
I dont think he was questioning their tactics but instead what appeared to be a genuine lack of hustle.

They are, they’re stretching hose lines on the interior, you don’t spray from the outside unless it’s a “surround and drown” fire where you’re writing off the whole building
