Bill Burr playing a former soldier with PTSD gave one of the best performances I've ever seen. He was brilliant.

@@miketrujillo3677 I agree, in the episode where they try to leave Mando in that prison his acting was nothing insane it got the job done but also wasn't like "WTF was that?" But the scene when he's face to face with his old commander (I think it was) was 10/10. He showed that even though he's just a... to put it in his terms "A stupid fking comedian" he sure as hell can act.
The more the scene went on, he looked more and more pale and at the end he looked like he was about to vomit.
Dude made me believe every second.

Bill Burr turned in a stellar performance. When Mando took off his helmet to help Grogu it was epic. Every episode just gets better. They have blown us away every single time.
This was my favorite episode this season, even after watching the phenomenal finale. Bill Burr's acting was pretty much the main reason. Miggs has so much baggage, and is so human, it hits hard.

Bill Bur is a dam good actor. I listen to some of his podcasts and he drops some heavy truth like what he was saying to Mando in the Imperial turbo tank, and he plays Mayfield really dang well to.
Din is probably going to have a hard time putting that helmet back on next season now that his creed is broken

But Migs, he's not getting anybody back. They're _Heroes of the Empire_ for officers like this guy.. Din found a whole new depth of respect for Mayfeld, cause he just witnessed and recieved the biggest disrespect towards himself and all his friends past and fallen and didn't hesitate to find retribution. (aka blasting this fool)
Gideon reffers to Grogu as "it" while Mando reffers to Grogu as "he". Nice subtle touch for a absolute dad moment.

The amount of freaking out there was for Boba repainting his armor, Din removing his helmet, and the seismic charge going off is just a fraction of what the season finale compilation will be

When Mayfeld hands Din the helmet and said "I never saw your face.", that's one of my favorite moment in the whole series. This is a very thoughtful gesture. While he keeps poking fun at Mando wearing the helmet like 40% of his screen time, he came to the rescue when he saw how the man was in quite a great distress, vulnerable even, without his helmet. Din felt he was naked and Mayfeld just saved his dignity. Din is good with fighting with or without his armor but we can see how he was silently freaking out from the fact that this was the first time someone have seen his face in decades.

Oh totally agreed on all points. Despite giving him crap for not removing his helmet, he saw how wrong footed and vulnerable he was without it. I also think he realized how serious and desperate he must have been to take that helmetoff in front of all those people. And they all died so technically no one saw his face. But Mayfeld was an OG for letting him keep his dignity like you said.
That is true but Mayfeld also made that gesture because Din, unlike Mayfeld, had the balls to go to the console to do the facial scan. Din had the courage to take the risk and expose himself, while Mayfeld did not.

He has the necessary key...they just wanted to know who was using it, like an IP address, I guess. It’s going to come back and biting him in the ass later, I’ll bet.
And the known terminal to access it for the entire galaxy, place in a secret base on unknown planet in the officers mess room, yeah definitely anybody can use it. 😁

Given this is the Empire we're talking about, I wouldn't be surprised if it was scanning for a human face specifically. Alien face = access denied.
@@RJALEXANDER777 I think it matches what field was talking about earlier. Anyone who's facial scans would pop up for the new republic registry would be immediately locked out, whereas Dins face isn't in that base. Same as his ship not being in new republic registry or whatever
Really, Pedro Pascal acting in this chapter is real pro. Notice him always move his head whatever he sees someone for example the lunch trooper behind him, he even turn his body sideway. Pedro really make Din like he still in his helmet.
Yep, sticks with you. Carry a weapon or body armor around long enough, becomes second nature, love that he nailed that part.
You could also read how uncomfortable Din was being without his helmet and armour. Pedro is an absolutely incredible actor!
He made this character 10 times more cool and interesting

I'm so glad they recanonized the fact that not everyone in the Empire is a bad guy, some of them are just doing their jobs. There use to be a comic that was once canon where they explained the backstory of the stormtrooper who stunned Leia in A New Hope, and he has an extremely messed up backstory and had a damn good reason to be in the Empire.
We saw a similar thing in hunted (Star Wars Squadron short)
And in rebels with callus, and battlefront ll and other stuff

In the novels they go into that in greater detail. In fact it's a theme in probably half of the canon books.
I love the whole "people really want order" take you see in Hess and in the Client in season 1. That seems to justify a lot for people. Unfortunately they can't humanize them too much or the thousands of troopers we see killed on the regular would hit a lot different. In the end, they are a faction that will glass planets every other Tuesday to maintain power, so their idea of order is pretty twisted. It's basically the core of the SS that's left at this point in the story.

There are two things to take away from this episode: Mando breaking his own rules and Boba Fett being like his father.

especially because he said "he", not "it" like Gideon did. to Din he's not an asset or a tool to a greater goal; he's an individual, a child that deserves protection, not exploitation. (and Din just loves his kid)
Mando loved his kid so much that he took it off for Grogu. Wonderful.
No one going to mention that Pascal without his helmet, never moved his head like he wasnt wearing his helmet......he didnt use any peripheral vision and every movement was someone who'd worn a helmet all their life and had to keep anyonme right infront of their eyes

11:14 Actually, when he takes off his helmet, he won't be sweaty, etc. because he's used to it all his life. His physiological processes have adjusted to it. Trust me, I've worked in a fab for years under a bunny suit. At first you're dying, then when u adjust, no big deal.

Lol that one girl who said he’s so beautiful when Din took his helmet off was literally me. If you thought that was touching just wait until the finale. It only reaffirms the belief that Din would do anything for Grogu and loves him more than anything. And that message at the end of this episode was so badass! Though it could’ve backfired. Bill Bur was so freaking good in this episode.
Interesting thing: Mayfield kinda reminds me of a soldier who would've served in the Vietnam War. I mean, just like how the empire killed many of their own during Operation Cinder, the US bombed/gassed a lot of their own troops in Vietnam. I'm sure that there are plenty of Vietnam Vets who want to to the same thing Mayfield did (killing his superior) to people lile McNamara.
That’s true. This whole episode gave off strong Vietnam war vibes. Mayfeld was lucky in that he was able to kill his superior with no lasting consequences.

Well we get a better look at him this time. The first time was just to get us to shut up about it and save his life. This time was to further his character development. It had more gravitas this time.

Mayfeld was the friend Mando desperately needed. Even though they never saw eye to eye, Mayfeld understood the pain Mando was going through and did everything to help; even protecting his identity when all along he'd wanted to see his face. Glad they let him go free. Hopefully we'll see them together again, because man, Bill Burr can act!
I want him somewhere in season 4, please! (but only if he stays alive!)
Din’s character development is so good in this episode, the fact that he completely willingly takes the helmet off without hesitation shows both his dedication to Grogu as a father but also how the fact that the creed he swore his dedication to fundamentally lied to him and he realised his connection to the child means more to him than even he realised, THAT is a character with dimension and it further proves how talented Jon, Dave and Pedro are at furthering the character
Cool thing is, I started crushing on the Mandalorian before seeing his face. Sometimes, there are times when I like the face first, but the Mandalorian's personality and good heart is what makes him attractive. But it just so happens that he's attractive as well.
Totally, that voice got me right away and then the face, wow! He really looks like the kid playing him as a child. Very unique face, gorgeous

Mando throwing his blaster at the pirate after it stopped working reminded me of Han Solo doing the same thing in the original trilogy.
I love his voice in the message to Moff Gideon at the end. You can hear his emotions and vulnerability and “I’m coming to get you” badass’!!
Interesting contrast here: in The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker the moviemakers took professional actors and had them perform pratfalls and quips and one-liners. While the people behind the Mandalorian had a comedian perform a really quite touching character arc. Shows what you can do with the proper writing and the proper direction.
There's no excuse to put out another bad cinematic release, now that we know how it should be done.

Rick Fumiyawa knows how to build up hype for a finale. Solid pen-ultimate episode that allowed Bill Burr AND Pedro Pascal to display their acting chops and develop their characters while still giving fan service to the other characters like ISB officer, Cara, Fennec and of course Boba and by proxy; the Slave I.

One thing I really liked about this fight on the transport was how the pirates/resistance actually worked together. When one almost fell off another one helped him up and how they just dog piled mando when they realized he knows what he is doing.

Bill Burr, a man who made mocking this series and fanbase a staple of his comic career, somehow came in, and with only 2 episodes, gave such a brilliant and nuanced performance, that people were actively upset to see him go again.
This was my favorite episode in the season! The amount of tension all throughout, and that fuckin brilliant acting from Bill Burr! CRISP
