I dont like the comments here... are you telling me a kid that saw his little sister beeing eaten right in front of him and burned down his village and killed his family and friend to not feel some kind of grudge against those who did it... like damn man
I agree, like what would have happened if Ilya had actually been there for Sett’s coup? (I know he showed up to save Maalo then again to help the civilians escape to the human territory, but it was all so fleeting) Plus, unless we see their corpses his sister’s killers are still out there, I wish he had gotten his revenge before the whole “not all Beastkind are monsters” thing, because sure that’s true but not all of them are worthy of kindness, not all of them are like sweet little Maalo 😒😒😒
The look of horrific realization Ilya had on his face when he saw Sariphi crying over Leon getting stabbed is the part that makes me break down in tears. The wake-cup call Ilya thought he was going to give Sariphi ended up being a wake-up call on himself instead.
Sariphi's one of the very few who truly loves the king. As in, she has no ulterior motives against him like so many others. It seems she stands with him while everyone else conspires against him in some way, shape, or form.
Its easy to say quote like this until your whole family and friends gets eaten alive and your sister is eaten right before your eyes but you cant move due to fear and horror. Then the worse is the beast let him live, after the fear has settled the helplessness will hit him hard and his heart will go cold. Its easy to keep on preaching about compassion and understanding without feeling what he went through.
@@WiSe0014you just reminded me of a scene from X-Men: First Class, the military is about to fire on the mutants, Erik (Magneto) stops the missiles and asks Charles (Xavier) what they are thinking. Hard to take revenge on someone that hadn’t wronged you in any way. I don’t think the beast king here was even in power at that time, not that it probably matters anyway as it was an isolated matter.
It’s not that simple “love is blind” would fit this situation they become so blinded by there love of someone close that they would do anything to keep them safe. Plus with the discrimination of monsters would make that complex much worse making him assume the worse case scenario that he would do anything to kill the monsters that took her. Making him think he would be the hero in her eyes.
Dear Ilyan , your love was true, and you were willing to die to save her, but your hatred for monsters blinded you. You could not see the humaness of the Beast, but it wasn't your fault. There really is no bad guy here in this situation, just a couple guys both in love with the same girl.
My God. Ilya should have realized what he has done all this time. He made turned himself into a monster whose blood was spilled by his own hands while killing poor innocent beasts with a sword. He has been blinded by his pride and hatred for them and their king. The boy thought he was able to avenge the deaths of his beloved mother and little sister, but he was wrong, and he made Sariphi cry for hurting the Leo and her. This has gone too far, way too far. I feel bad for Ilya, but I cannot forgive him for what he has done. He did terrible sins to the beasts. So, Ilya finally sees that Sariphi loves the beast with all her heart. It is time he would understand.
Toooooo be fair, the whole point of the sacrificial princess bit was because the beasts wished to ensure that humans knew they stood over them and would gladly wipe humanity out without atonement. Ilya’s whole life no doubt was fraught with his betters telling him the evils of the beasts and breeding a hatred within him that would help him more easily fight against the beasts as humans tried to break the system. The problem is, but the time Saraphi came around, nobody in control actually cared about tributes and what not beyond tradition. Heck, Leo looked upon the whole ceremony with boredom until he got to know Seraphi. In truth, Ilya is a victim of his environment: nurture vs nature.
Bro, if I was in his place and had seen my mother and little sister getting killed and eaten by beast. Then I wouldn’t care whether i killed innocent beast or bad one. All i would want, would be the complete destruction of their kind.

He never kill any of the sacrificies, he let them go throught a secret passage and cut himself blood to fool his servants.
