  • www.truthforli... || By: Alistair Begg - (Mark 9:42-48) We live in a culture that has grown indifferent toward sin and the notion that God will execute holy justice upon it. Jesus took sin seriously and provided sobering instruction on how his followers should fight sin in their lives. Alistair Begg teaches us that even though we are secure in Christ, we should not think that we are no longer obligated to battle sin.

I find it amazing and bitter sweet that God loved us so dearly and profoundly that He took His wrath out on His only beloved Son so that we would not have to endure that wrath, because we actually deserve it.

His Son freely gave His life for our sin. He freely took our sin upon Himself. God's wrath wasn't upon Him at all. Jesus willingly and lovingly obeyed the will of God the Father. The will of God is that none should perish. Jesus' death and resurrection make that possible to them who believe and accept God's gift to us.

I am grateful to say that I am a born again Christian and have been since I was 19.......folks if you don’t know Christ as your savior then it burdens my soul to think that just like this sermon topic is about you are headed for a terrible place called Hell where the Bible says the fire is never quenched and the worm dies not! Folks you are not promised tomorrow! If you want to know how to be saved from this horrible reality then please by all means don’t hesitate to comment right back so I can lead you to the savior! 2 Corinthians 6:2 clearly states “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation!” And Hebrews 3:15 clearly states, “Today if you hear his voice don’t harden your hearts! it is not me but the Holy Spirit that I pray reveals to you the truth of his precious gospel......John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes on him will not perish but have everlasting life! V 17 says then V 18 says whoever believes on the son is not condemned but whoever does not believe on the son is condemned already because he has not believed on the son whom God has sent! Also Acts 16:30-31 what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house I am not threatening anyone but just warning them what will happen if they reject this precious gift of eternal life! Christ died a horrible criminals death! He was beaten brutally mocked spit upon and endured countless hours of torture pain for all of our sins! Ppl go to hell because they reject that pardon for their sins! And Jesus is saying to them in Matthew 25:41 depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! Hell was only prepared for Satan and his angels! It is not God who threatens anyone it is the craziness of rejecting the free pardon of salvation! It’s like if you’re in court you’ve committed a crime say you murdered someone! Now if you say to that Judge hey I know I’ve done a terrible thing of murdering that person but I hear you’re a good judge and so I know you’ll be fair to me...... the judge is going to reply well yes you’re right about one thing I am a good judge and because I’m a good judge I’m going to see to it that you’re punished and that justice is served! Well then all of a sudden someone you don’t even know comes forward and says you know what I know he’s committed the crime he’s committed and he deserves to go to jail but I really don’t want to see him go to prison so I’ll just go to prison for him so he can go free! So if you accepted that offer you’d be free to leave the courtroom but if you didn’t well you’d be crazy and go to prison yourself! Well that’s exactly how it was 2,000 years ago! He is God in human flesh and he came to this earth lived a perfect sinless life and even though he knew that we had sinned and because of our sins deserved to die miserably but he said no I don’t want to see them suffer so I will go and take their punishment for them! Even though he did absolutely nothing wrong still he chose to take the punishment for our sins so we can be set free from the power bondages and consequences of our disobedience to God! Romans 5:8 says For God commends his love toward us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! 1 John 2:2 says he was made to be the propitiation for our sins! And not just for our sins but the sins of the whole world! 2 Corinthians 5:21 He who knew no sin became Sin for us that we would be made his righteousness! The truth is if you had to get to Heaven by your own effort then you cannot do it! Because Romans 3:10 says there is not one that does good! No Not One! Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death! But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord! But the good news is Romans 10:9 If we confess with our mouth and believes in our hearts that Christ died for our sins then was raised from the dead we will be saved! V 10 For it’s with the heart we believe and it’s with the mouth confession is made unto salvation! God gave us 10 commandments to follow and we’ve broken every one of them! And because God is a good God he cannot allow our disobedience to him to go unpunished! Well then like I just mentioned above his son Jesus stepped forward and said no I don’t want to see them punished so I will take their punishment for them! And also like I said he died a terrible substitute criminal’s death for us on a cross so now all we have to do is accept that payment for our sins and we can escape the terrible wrath of God that is to fall on them who do not accept this atonement that was sacrificed for our sins! Praise the lord Romans 10:13 says Whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved! And 1 Peter 1:4 you’re an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you! Christ clearly said in John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through me! Acts 4:12 clearly states that there is no other name given unto Heaven or earth by which we must be saved as there is salvation in no other! Jesus clearly states that there is clearly only one way to Salvation and it’s him that’s it! There is no other way! God Bless everyone who reads!

I have a very simple question for Mr. Begg : If this eternal torture is true, why did God not tell the very first man, Adam, about it ? Why didn't God tell him that he would not only die, but that there was some shadowy part of him that would survive and be tortured for all eternity? Not only did God not warn him about it when he gave the command concerning the tree, he also did not mention it when he passed judgement on the man. No man that has ever lived had more of a right to know EXACTLY what his punishment would be. He was perfect and sinless, a true son of God. Not only that, but no man that has ever lived sinned greater than he did. His sin plunged the world into sin and death, condemning all his offspring. All of the suffering throughout the ages is a direct result of his sin. And yet, God purposed this horrific, eternal torture for his sinful children, but not the one who caused it? Is Mr. Begg implying, like Satan did to the woman, that God was hiding something from them?
The hellfire doctrine is a blasphemy, a lie against God. It is taken, not from scripture, but from pagan ideology fused with the teachings of Plato. There is no immortal soul. Man IS a soul, he does not have one. Nothing survives death. The hope for the dead is the resurrection.

    • @jayimartavinson32

Jesus Christ himself, repeatedly confirmed the truth of Hell. His death and resurrection prove the truth of all he said and did. Asking why God did not do.... (Whatever the objection is), He should have done... (Whatever the person thinks he would do if the person was God), says more about the one objecting than the validity of the argument. God rules over all and our screaming He is not fair only displays my rebellion. Jesus died to rescue you, but you are rejecting what He has offered and declaring your own wisdom is greater than the God of creation and the author of Scripture.

What has this to do with my simple questions about a horrible teaching that is contrary to the Bible, contrary to ALL concepts of justice and contrary to Jesus' own words ( despite your claims otherwise)? I couldn't help but notice you didn't answer the question, but jumped to accusations instead.
People make wild accusations like this because they cannot answer the question. They jump to something else or try to change the subject. The question still stands: Why didn't God tell Adam about burning in hell? For that matter, why didn't he tell his covenant people when he thundered at Mount Sinai and gave them the law? He gave them over 400 laws and yet not one word about burning anywhere. He did tell that them "this day I do call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death ". Deuteronomy 30:19, also vs.15 (death and destruction) No burning there. And speaking of what Jesus said: " For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that all those believing in him might not PERISH but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Keep up putting out the truth. Mr. Begg is an excellent teacher with good delivery skills and very popular. However, personality, charisma, and personal attachment to a preacher can make a false doctrine seem absolutely true. You have to detach and do your own homework if you want to find the truth. No one is born immortal, Immortality is a gift and that is eternal life in Christ Jesus. All outside of Christ die and are mortal. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    • @margaretchapman9328

I really respect Pastor Begg, he is not afraid to warn us of the consequences of sin. Jesus and his disciples clearly teach that there is salvation in no one else but himself, Gods only begotten son, only Jesus (God come in the flesh), is able to forgive sin, and grant us eternal life. At the judgement only those who are trusting in Jesus will gain immortality to be with God eternally. For the unrepentent sinner, there is no eternal life, no immortality granted, only the dreadful punishing in the lake of fire and eventual death, meaning life totally extinquished. I was disappointed that Pastor Begg did not read the verse of scripture John 3:16 correctly, by saying "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, so that whosoever believeth on him shall have eternal life, and shall not go to hell". Of course that is not what the scripture says, he should have said, "and shall not perish". Why would he not just say what the scripture says.

"For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe" (1 Timothy 4;10).

A lot is riding on this: In the dozen or so verses where hell, the lake of fire or destruction is said to be "eternal," "everlasting" or "forever," it's based on the Greek word _aionios._ If you google _aionios,_ you'll find many opinions about its meaning. There are excellent reasons to believe it should be translated "of an age." The adjective _aionios_ is derived from the noun _aion,_ which means "eon" or "age." Eons and ages are long but *finite* periods of time. The very literal Rotherham's Emphasized Bible version translates _aionios_ as "age-abiding." Young's Literal Translation says "age-during," which means during an age. Blessings!

Therefore, since bringing children into the world would be taking an eternal risk with someone else’s life, do you not think having children would be the most selfish and irresponsible thing you could do?

1 Timothy 4:1, “ Now the spirit is saying explicitly, that in subsequent eras some will be withdrawing from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and the teachings of demons,
2 in the hypocrisy of false expressions, their own conscience having been cauterized;”
If you want to earmark a teaching of demons there is one way to do it - look for false expressions that demonstrates hypocrisy.
And here are some big ones:
Jesus died to remove all sin, BUT, the sin of unbelief will send a human to hell.
Christ’s sacrifice for all accomplishes 100% of salvation, BUT, a person can’t be saved UNLESS they choose faith in Christ.
God is sovereign and controls all things BUT by their choices every person is able to thwart God’s plan.
Salvation and heaven are graciously given, no one can boast, BUT, death and hell are the result of poor choices and unbelief.
Love NEVER fails, BUT, the love of God cannot overcome human stubbornness.
Humanity is in bondage to sin, good is not in them, BUT, by one’s free choices one must extricate oneself from sin.
God is the Saviour of all mankind, BUT, most of humanity will forever be removed from God.
God’s will is unstoppable, He will have all He desires, BUT, human will does not allow God to have all He desires.
God has good news for you, come to us and hear the evangel of God’s love and grace, BUT, your dead, unbelieving loved ones are in hell suffering unimaginably forever for their sin.
God loves you, as long as you love God with all your heart, soul and strength.
Christ died for all sin, BUT, the sin of unbelief is unforgiven.
The Good Shepherd will seek and seek until the last lost sheep is found, BUT, the Good Shepherd gives up on most of the sheep as He seeks until it is too late.
God’s justice was satisfied in the cross of Jesus Christ, BUT, God’s justice demands eternal separation from Him.
Jesus Christ is greater than Adam but Jesus Christ will not save most of those condemned in Adam.
The following scriptures, among many others, prove the false expressions of orthodox Christian teaching:
Romans 5:18-19, “ Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for ALL people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for ALL people. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many(ALL) were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many(the same ALL who were made sinners) will be made righteous.”
1 Timothy 4:10, “ That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.”
Romans 11:32, “ For God has bound EVERYONE over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them ALL”.
Romans 11:36, “For FROM him and THROUGH him and FOR him are ALL things. To him be the glory forever!”
Colossians 1:20, “and through him to reconcile to himself ALL things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”
Didn’t something happen at the cross of Christ? Didn’t Christ’s actions there UNDO what Adam did?
1 Timothy 2:5-6, “ For there is one God, and one Mediator of God and mankind, a Man, Christ Jesus,
6 Who is giving Himself a correspondent Ransom for ALL (the testimony in its own eras),”
This is a work of God that we do not see at one time as He will be manifesting this work over time in different eras and eons.
1 Corinthians 15:22-24, “ 22 For even as, in Adam, ALL are dying, thus also, in Christ, shall ALL be vivified.
    23 Yet each in his own class: the Firstfruit, Christ; thereupon those who are Christ's in His presence;
24 thereafter the consummation, whenever He may be giving up the kingdom to His God and Father, whenever He should be nullifying all sovereignty and all authority and power.”
It is God’s purpose to bring all of His creation back to Himself through the blood of Jesus’ sacrifice.
There is judgement but God’s judgements are intentional, purposeful and remedial. His judgements ALWAYS result in God’s desired outcomes. His judgements occur in order to PRODUCE something, not just to exact vengeance. WHAT DOES HELL PRODUCE?

@@joebolling So then what is the nature of God? Does He bring billions of people into existence knowing beforehand that they would be rebellious and end up suffering forever? What possible purpose would He have for doing that?
You may also not be aware of Romans 11:32, "For God has bound EVERYONE over to disobedience so that he may have MERCY on them ALL." Did God not have mercy on you and bring you to faith in Christ? Why would He do this for you but not for billions of other people? You think that those brought to faith in Christ in this life are the only people who are going to make it to heaven. Everyone else is destined for the trash heap of history where they will suffer forever. Can you not see that this concept is THE MOST horrific and vicious idea imaginable? And yet our great God and Saviour can not manage to do better in His plan for HIS creatures?
What about 1 Corinthians 13:8 that savs love NEVER fails?
1 John 4:8, "Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God IS love."
1 John 4:16, "So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God IS love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."
What is the goal of love? Is it not the highest good for that which is loved? And is the highest good not to be reconciled to the source of this love, our Creator? So if God is love and love NEVER fails, what does God never fail in doing? He never fails in His highest goal of reconciling His rebellious creatures to Himself. He will eventually accomplish this as many scriptures indicate(for example, Colossians 1:20, 1 Corinthians 15:28).
But those saved in this life are saved to become co-labourers with Christ to bring into reconciliation and subjection to Christ the rest of humanity and the celestial realm in future eons.
We currently live in "this wicked eon" as Paul states. And this wicked eon will end with the return of Christ. But there will still be much work and activity after this.
With the eventual result that all are brought into subiection to Christ and then Christ gives all to His Father and subjects Himself to His Father. (1 Corinthians 15:28). The subjection is not a forced submission of rebels, because when Christ subjects Himself to His Father, this is a loving, joyous and worshipful subjection, the same kind that ALL will experience. God becoming "All in all" is His final plan for all of God's creatures. Meaning God fills all of His creation with Himself and becomes everything to every creature. THAT is who the God of accurately translated scripture really is.
Revelation does not complete the portrayal of God's ultimate purpose for His creation. It is actually Paul who completes the word of God to us, in 1 Corinthians 15:28. Paul stated that he completed God's revelation to us in Colossians 1:24-29, "I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for you, and am filling up in my flesh, in His stead, the deficiencies of the afflictions of Christ, for His body, which is the ecclesia 25 of which I became a dispenser, in accord with the administration of God, which is granted to me for you, TO COMPLETE THE WORD OF GOD - -
26 the secret which has been concealed from the eons and from the generations, yet now was made manifest to His saints,
27 to whom God wills to make known what are the glorious riches of this secret among the nations, which is: Christ among you, the expectation of glory - -
      28 Whom we are announcing, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we should be presenting every man mature in Christ Jesus;
29 for which I am toiling also, struggling in accord with His operation, which is operating in me with power."
God is a whole lot bigger and better than the caricature Christianity has presented to the world, with it's monstrous god that says love me or l will make you suffer forever, the lovely “turn or burn” gospel, with it’s pathetic and impotent saviour who can only stand by helplessly as a huge part of humanity that he supposedly came to save overrules this god’s will with it’s own vastly more powerful “free will”and damns itself to an eternity of unimaginable suffering.
Is that the god you think you love and worship?

Proverbs 18:17. In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross-examines.
That is also why many videos from people claiming Jesus and giving sermons. Have their comments turned off, and their groups are spiritually attacking children on American soil.
The devil calls that grace, but it is only a human grace from another group letting go of your throat, only long enough to gasp for a breath of oxygen, and then squeeze tighter and hear them boast of what grace you received. While you're passing out and dying, but not a death that brings seperation from your flesh.
